### "A Reliable Tool for Collaboration and Project Tracking"

September 20, 2025

5.0

Although Bitbucket's performance is sometimes slow, its integrations and collaboration features still make it valuable for my team.

Pros

Bitbucket is easy to use with its clean, user-friendly interface, and it makes project tracking and team code collaboration much simpler.

Cons

At times, Bitbucket’s performance felt slower compared to other platforms, especially while working with larger repositories.

While GitHub is great for community projects, Bitbucket offered stronger integrations with Jira and more control over private repositories, which better fit my team’s workflow.

### "Bitbucket is very easy to use and allows great collaboration"

May 5, 2025

5.0

Bitbucket is very easy to use and allows great collaboration between team members. Simple in integrations with Jira and Jenkins, etc.

Cons

As I know, I don't see any cons in using Bitbucket. I used quite a features, all are reasonable in using them.

### "Its okay. Slow on the features. Integration/"pipes" are good."

March 13, 2025

3.0

It's not my first choice, but with some elbow grease it gets the job done. I like the integration with Jira. I would probably pick GitHub Actions or Circle CI if I could.

Pros

It works as a code repository. I am using it because it was grandfathered in. I do like the integration with Jira. I do like the integrations that are called "pipes".

Cons

Bitbucket is too slow on the feature requests. I have been waiting for ARM support for years. I wish I could add an approval step to the pipeline. There seems to be an outage every month.

### "Sound Git repo system"

March 16, 2025

5.0

Positive experience. Reliable, good code review system, plenty of role-access control features.

Pros

User friendly Git system. Integrates well with Jira and Confluence for issue tracking/knowledge sharing.

Cons

Stopped licensing the self-hosted server version and forced everyone only cloud or Data Centre. Also while still good, Github is starting to edge BitBucket in features.

### "Solid Option for Private Repositories"

April 18, 2025

4.0

It has been a reliable platform for managing private Git repositories, especially when working within teams using the Atlassian ecosystem.

Pros

The ability to have a free private repo for small teams, and its simplicity with a clean user interface

Cons

Bitbucket isn’t widely used for open-source projects or tutorials. It’s a bit more “closed off” than GitHub, where most devs hang out.

### "One of the simplest git hosts"

December 27, 2024

5.0

Pros

It is very simple to use, you simply create your repositories and then can push your code to them. It has great security features such as 2 factor authentication. I think you can create unlimited repositories

Cons

The process for reviewing merge requests was more complex than on GitHub.

### "Solid Git Hosting for Atlassian Teams with Easy Pipelines"

September 2, 2025

4.0

Straightforward Git hosting and reviews, best if you’re in the Atlassian stack Pipelines cover most needs; for heavy/complex builds we used self‑hosted runners

Pros

Tight Jira/Confluence integration; solid PR workflows and branch permissions - Pipelines are easy to set up (YAML, caches, env vars) and good for common CI/CD - Good value for small/medium teams (free private repos, sensible tiers)

Cons

\- Pipelines minutes/concurrency can get pricey; hosted macOS/Windows runners are limited - UI performance and code search/browsing/editor feel behind GitHub/GitLab

### "Reliable Repository"

October 16, 2025

5.0

Pros

The ease of use and the CI/CD pipelines integration is great. Also the option to visualize the pipeline and how many branches are from main is great. Keep our repos safely and ready to use. Integration with Jira and Confluence is a nice feature.

Cons

Maybe develop a bit more in Rovo ChatBot, also understandable as it is anew feature and it is still in Beta version, Looking forward to see the full power.

### "Excellent for Jira Teams, Average for Standalone Use"

December 17, 2025

4.0

Bitbucket has been solid, especially when working within an Atlassian‑based workflow. The integration with Jira is the standout feature—it keeps code, issues, and documentation tightly connected, which helps maintain clarity across development teams. Bitbucket Pipelines also makes it easy to automate builds and deployments without relying on external CI tools. However, the platform isn’t without drawbacks. The UI can feel clunky at times, and performance slows down with larger repos or heavier activity. It’s a great fit for teams already invested in Atlassian products, but it may feel less polished or flexible for those coming from more modern or streamlined platforms.

Pros

Bitbucket’s strongest advantage is its seamless integration with Jira and the rest of the Atlassian ecosystem.

Cons

The interface can feel slower and less intuitive compared to competitors like GitHub. For teams not using Jira, Bitbucket often feels less compelling.

### "The agile way to go with git"

October 18, 2024

5.0

It’s nice, I think it is more organized and it works better in an organizational environment, but maybe for personal projects it’s not the best option

Pros

I think it’s great for the integration with Jira, so it’s really useful to integrate in an agile team

Cons

I think the only con that I can see is that there is not so many community out there as in other platforms as github and that they don’t have the dark mode

### "Bitbucket works"

July 31, 2023

4.0

It is a great versioning tool, it comes with a UI for users who are not so good with Git. It's a nice feature but I don't think it's necessary. Access control is a great feature too, it helps in boosting the security of the source code.

Pros

The most liked feature of Bitbucket is its integration with JIRA projects. It's easy for project managers to track the process of deployment, and for change management to check in with security on Pull requests.

Cons

The pipeline aspect of Bibtbucket is the least of my team's favorites. We believe that CurcleCI does a better job. It would be preferred if it's free like its counterpart, GitHub.

### "Simple SCM Tool"

November 9, 2022

4.0

Overall Bitbucket is good, earlier I used to perform all my changes in code using Bitbucket only. The best part is Bitbucket allows to integrate with JIRA and confluence so that we can easily track the progress of work.if you are a beginner I would really suggest you to go through with Bitbucket without a single thought. Bitbucket is only a source code management tool but GitHub performs as source code management as well as CI tool so for experienced person/user, Bitbucket will not do everything. I used Bitbucket more than 2 years and I can say my overall experience is good with Bitbucket, its up to users what features they want accordingly they can choose.

Pros

Bitbucket is a good version control system, one can easily create branches, delete branches, commit code, merge code and many more. For a beginner it's a good tool to learn about git and to do practice. The advantage of Bitbucket is you can integrate it with project management tools such as JIRA, also you integrate Bitbucket with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins that is the most likeable feature of Bitbucket. Bitbucket is free for single user, so one can do practice easily during learning phase.

Cons

Prices are bit high for paid version, Bitbucket provide free version to only <=5 employees, for companies with more than five employees Bitbucket does not provide free service. Also Bitbucket features are outdated as compare to GitHub, GitHub provides lot of extra features as compare to Bitbucket. Sometimes while switching from one section to other Bitbucket was slow.

Switched from

[GitHub](https://www.capterra.com/p/129067/GitHub/)

Because GitHub performs as source code management tool as well as CI that's why I switched to GitHub. Also GitHub provides lot of additional feature and it's cheaper than Bitbucket.

### "A sturdy and reliable option for managing a GIT repo"

November 22, 2022

4.0

My main piece of software used when managing repos and source control. As I only use the free tier, I cant really argue with the features or the software itself and it keeps my cowboy code as neat as it can! Ha!

Pros

The GUI is pretty easy to use and most features are easy to find through the multiple menubars and dashboards.

Cons

There are janky moments were the GUI has issues or just dies completely. This happens much less regularly recently. But it is worth noting. I also am not a fan of the pipelines, as compared to the other features its a bit behind other companies

### "Top of the tops choice for version control"

November 20, 2023

5.0

Positive experience, with BitBucket the development processes are more standardized and easy to implement and follow.

Pros

The integration with Jira is one of our favourite BitBucket features. The UI is always clear and allows for full configuration of rules in order to approve the PR. The branching model configuration is also easy and very user friendly.

Cons

When managing more workspaces the UI gives by default the latest viewed workspace, except for the personal workspaces. This could be confusing at first but it's a minor issue an user can get used to.

### "Very easy to use, but lacking some needs for enterprise (non-crucial though)"

April 27, 2020

4.0

We never had any showstopper issues with it, everything simply seems to be working on it's own. It provides enough integration points for CI/CD pipelines and maintenance has never been an issue. We've been using it for years on a mid-big project without issues (~2M lines of code, 4 years worth of active development, now with around ~50 people), and also on some other with client having huge project (~20M lines, ~7 years, ~150 people at the moment).

Pros

First thing to note is there's two versions of the software - self hosted and cloud hosted on bitbucket.com. Make sure you know what you're buying as those two vary sometimes significantly in features (e.g. lack of automerge branches in cloud hosted version, which might be a showstopper for you). However, they're constantly putting out updates, so make sure to check the latest version comparisons. In general, the cloud version is the 'skinny one'. Reviewing changes has always been a breeze and the major strong point of bitbucket - it's very easy to start comments, reply, assign tasks, require min number of approvals before merging, etc. The support for git-flow is seamless - the versioning is working always as expected, with auto-merge down to the correct branch detected correctly. We have setup a build engine to it so you can't merge a branch that's failing builds, which works great. The overview of code, branches, PRs is working great, the full-text search throughout entire codebase is amazingly fast (although, it's lacking some basic filters).

Cons

Some pull requests are limited to review only the 1000 files - this is unfortunate, because if you have very large projects and with some refactoring you're easily over that number, this doesn't give you ability to see that-very-specific project files you want to check upon. It's annoying as there doesn't seem to be any good reason for the limit. If you have large teams (e.g. imagine 160 people, split into 15 teams), you can't group people which would be useful to see ("PR's of my team" for example would be a nice feature to have). Also missing is what's seen nowadays in github - a recognition for the language that's shown.

### "A Brilliant Code Management Tool"

August 13, 2022

4.0

I have used a variety of repository management platforms over my career, and Bitbucket offers one of the simplest and cleanest options. The ecosystem they provide and the integration with their other goods are incredible. It makes managing repositories, tasks, and monitoring simple, keeping everyone in the company informed about the progress of their product development.

Pros

Simple to utilize when integrating CI/CD with automation pipeline technologies like Jenkins. The issue tracker and branch comparison views are both great. Project labels and milestones may also be created. Jira integration allows you to monitor the pull request from that platform. It also offers some nice third-party software integrations. You may import from SourceForge, SVN, Git, and more. Additionally, if you need to search for a certain item in the repository, I enjoy the search possibilities. Additionally, you may build your own wiki. To commit my code, I use this together with SourceTree (another Atlassian product). Excellent compatibility with other Atlassian applications. One of Bitbucket's biggest advantages is how well it integrates with all of Atlassian's other products, including Jira and Confluence.

Cons

The hook system needs an extra plugin to be controllable and easy. Additionally, I had hoped to find methods to quickly download diff patches and a simple method for obtaining LOC information from pull requests, both of which are currently lacking. In addition to this, a few other reporting tools for executives may be used to assess the productivity of developers, etc.

### "Dev perspective: plain vanilla. Exactly what you want in this case"

January 13, 2023

5.0

I haven't encountered any issues, it really has been a boring experience/review. But for a product like this - do you want it to be exciting and bloated with features?

Pros

Honestly, there isn't too much setting bitbucket apart from other products on the market. In this case, I'd say that's perfect - it's intuitive and easy to use and offers all the features you would expect/need: basic git features, access controls, CI/CD, environment setups. As far as day to day usage goes, I wouldn't have any issues using BitBucket for dev work.

Cons

Nothing, it really just delivers a plain vanilla offering as everything else you would find for writing and bringing services to market. I would suggest, the differentiators probably come in from devops more than the dev perspective - and of course cost from business decisions. But from a developer's interactions with bitbucket - there really shouldn't be too many strong arguments for or against a specific tool here.

### "web-based version control repository hosting service"

February 23, 2023

5.0

Pros

Bitbucket provides Git repository hosting, allowing teams to store and manage their codebase in a centralized location. This feature allows teams to easily collaborate on code changes and track version history.-> Bitbucket's code insights feature provides teams with real-time feedback on code quality, code coverage, and other metrics. This feature helps teams identify and fix issues early in the development process.-> Bitbucket allows developers to create branches for their code changes and merge them into the main branch when they are ready. This feature allows developers to work on separate code changes independently and reduces the risk of conflicts and errors.

Cons

While Bitbucket's user interface is functional, it could be more user-friendly and intuitive. -> Bitbucket's documentation could be more comprehensive and easier to navigate, especially for new users.-> While Bitbucket provides pull requests and code review features, there is room for improvement in collaboration tools such as real-time collaboration, chat functionality, and project management tools.

### "Great tool, automation docs could be better"

January 14, 2020

4.0

Once you get the hang of Bitbucket, it is easy to use and a very good visualizing tool for what you are doing with your repositories.

Pros

Bitbucket has a good UI and is very good for most of the repository related tasks. It has JIRA integration, so if you put your JIRA ticket numbers in the commit message, Bitbucket will link the pull requests into JIRA. This makes it very easy to access commits and the associated JIRA tickets from bitbucket itself, and vice versa. It has good branch visualization tools. It lets you select branches from a drop down and compare them with other source barnches. The diff visualizer is pretty good too. It even has good graphical icons to show which branches have been merged/rebased where. You can use command line git to manage repos as well. With their REST APIs it is possible to create repositories from the command line, which is very useful in cases where you have to do the tedious task of creating hundreds of repositories very similar to one another.

Cons

I was unable to find documentation on their APIs to set group and permissions access restrictions from the command line. This was required because we needed to create 100s of repos and allow our users to access them. Because we could not find API documentation easily and were in a time crunch, we had to have developers spend several days manually granting permissions using the web-console. Bitbucket should have these APIs clearly visible and documented.

### "Ideal Platform For Maintaining Distinct Repositories For Different Microcontroller Platforms"

April 17, 2023

4.0

The finest thing that ever occurred to our team was its integration with JIRA, which made our work much faster and more effective. It is the greatest tool for CI/CD pipeline and version control. It will be regarded as the greatest tool for maintaining separate repositories for various microcontroller platforms.

Pros

Whenever a colleague creates a PR, we can manage and debate it among ourselves. The team can design the policies depending on their developer workflow with the assistance of options like branching models and constraints. Its remarkable features and version control capabilities make it the most useful. Users may monitor and handle bugs, feature requests, and other activities directly from the code repository thanks to its integrated issue-tracking system.

Cons

Because the search possibilities are limited and you must separately search for repos and code in repos, finding items can be time-consuming. We haven't noticed the Codeowners file feature on the roadmap, which is still under development.
