### "Good version control solution for organizations with multiple projects"

May 10, 2022

4.0

Bitbucket is good at organisation level deployments, where multiple teams can use it for numerous projects. The access control features are excellent and do not require any other learning than that of GitHub.

Pros

Bitbucket provides domains for organisations as a whole. In that aspect, it is better than GitHub at organisation level access control. It is also simpler to manage. A crucial feature is that Bitbucket works seamlessly with Git bash and continuous deployment tools like Jenkins.

Cons

Bitbucket, like GitHub, lacks proper reporting tools. The version control graphs are helpful but require a learning curve. Additionally, Bitbucket lacks its CD tools.

### "An easy and fast way to keep track of your elements and their modifications. "

February 13, 2021

4.0

Bitbucket is a very useful version control tool, easy to master and with many useful tools that will help you speed up your work, of course it has certain shortcomings that could be improved over time, but at the end of the day it is a tool very useful. From the most basic to the most complex options, you will find them extremely useful in your day to day work to get ahead.

Pros

Bitbucket has a very friendly interface that is easy to understand and understand, it allows you to maintain control and order of all your elements and keep track of each modification that was made and by whom said modification was made. It allows you to establish different types of permissions as necessary to have a better control of who can perform what actions within the repositories that are created in bitbucket. Once you get familiar with the tool, everything is easy to do and locate any option you are looking for to carry out your tasks.

Cons

Sometimes the way it provides you to search within each repository can be somewhat cumbersome, requiring you to write the exact name of the component you may be looking for in order to show you a result, making the searches more strenuous since you must know the exact name of the component or it will be very difficult to find it. In some cases, when versioning certain changes, Bitbucket interprets them as a total change within the component and shows as if the file was being completely modified even if you are only modifying some lines of code.

### "One of the best Source Control Solutions"

May 1, 2023

5.0

It's been an amazing experience since we started using bitbucket. We have switched to other Atlassian tools to enable better integration. This has really helped improved our software engineering process.

Pros

The features we love most about Bitbucket is it's intgeration with other tools especially Atlassian tools. We use other Atlassian tools and the tight integration just makes it easy for us track projects. Another feature we like is the CI/CD feature. It eliminated the need for use to deploy a seperate system for our CI/CD needs. This has reduced the amount of work need to setup and maintain a seperate tool.

Cons

Bitbucket has very great features that makes our job easy. However, the user interface for pull requests can be greatly improved upon. We also have issues when editing a YAML file for CI/CD using the online editor.

### "Easily manage multiple private projects within a team"

June 4, 2022

5.0

Overall I'm pretty satisfied with Bitbucket. Once again I'd like to highlight the fact that giving private repositories was a blessing for early-stage startups who keeps an eye on every $$ spent. The integrations with products like JIRA just make it an excellent choice over any other competitor products.

Pros

I liked the option of creating private repositories for free in Bitbucket. Github has also started giving this now but Bitbucket is a pioneer in this. The team collaboration is excellent having complete visibility of individuals. JIRA integration is also very powerful. Developers can easily mark the task completed from one place itself.

Cons

Small things like solving merge conflicts from the UI would help senior engineers not to go through the IDE. It also gets slow at a certain point. It takes a lot of time in merging the conflicts.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Bitbucket

### "BitBucket: A version control with easiest interface and functionalities "

February 14, 2023

5.0

I love bitbucket, I use it daily to push my code, review code and search any former piece of snippets and it's so easier to do with bitbucket, it really made my life easier. One of the thing about bitbucket that I really like is that it's very easy to learn, many juniour developers in my organization got familier with it really fast and that's really helpful

Pros

I love how easy it is to use bitbucket, JIRA is known for it's simplicity and bitbucket is quite an reflection of that also, it's really easier to find anything in bit bucket you just have to type text you remeber in the search box and you will the result and I really love this feature. Also you can simply link you bitcucket with platform like databricks so transport your code.

Cons

Well as great and easy to use bitbucket is it's not as powerful as github, and it's CLI support is not as good as github too. Though it suits my usecase perfectly and I don't have any personal complaint, other users with incredible continous integration requests might face some problems

### "Another excellent product from Atlassian"

March 24, 2024

5.0

Pros

Bitbucket is awesome for developers and teams alike! One big plus is its support for Git repositories, making it super easy to manage code changes and collaborate effectively. With Bitbucket, you can branch out and experiment without worrying about messing up the main code, thanks to its nifty branching and merging features. Plus, it plays well with other tools like Jira and Trello, making project management a breeze. And hey, security is important too, and Bitbucket's got you covered with customizable access controls. It's basically a go-to platform for keeping your code organized, your team on track, and your projects running smoothly.

Cons

The Atlassian suite can be expensive if you aren't using the free versions.

### "Streamlined Collaboration and Effortless Version Control"

December 10, 2023

Because of how integrated BitBucket is, it's not a great standalone solution. So if you're not in the market for a complete suite of project management tools, you might want to use something else.

Pros

Cons

Vendor lock-in, occasional complexity in setting up advanced workflows and a steep learning curve for beginners.

### "Bitbucket - A code collaboration solution for IT professionals."

March 24, 2019

5.0

We are using the BitBucket from past many years, we have selected it over the robust integration with third part software like JIRA. Smart mirroring and IP white-listing are the most used features in case of cloud to improve the security. Bitbucket integration with build tool like Bamboo help us to achieve the continuous delivery of the project.

Pros

Bitbucket is a code collaboration solution for all IT professionals. The web based interface beautifully manage the GIT version control repository. The pull request & code review helps in review the code and providing the instant feedback. Code search feature is one of the best feature of Bitbucket, It helps in searching and jumping to the relevant code in it. Branch permissions help in managing the release. Diff view is the feature where a user can view the code side-by-side and view the difference with the latest or with the specific version. Merge check feature save our time as at the time of release we don't have to manually do the merges.

Cons

We are unable to add nest permission in repositories. Bitbucket is not just the version controller it is a code collaboration so it also needs some more improvement on management and tracking. Clustering the data center is really a complex part to be implemented if you want to host it on-premises.

### "Easy Git Integration for Jira!"

August 15, 2023

4.0

It's been very easy going. I have more experience with GitHub, GitLab etc and BitBucket has been great.

Pros

It's in the Atlassian family, and as a Product Development leader already deeply immersed in mostly Atlassian products this has been a game changer. It's very user friendly, and not overwhelming to get new folks onboarded. It's clean and easy.

Cons

I wish we could have more permissions for structure with our developers. We do have the premium version which is absolutely fairly priced, I just wish it had a bit more control. Haha, but this could just be my opinion.

### "Bitbucket - A web-based version control repository. "

February 4, 2019

5.0

Bitbucket is a smarter way to write and deliver the code. Build Integration icon also shows the result for your complied code. Two step-verification is lengthy but surely make you safe from non authentic people for digging into your code. Merge check is a premium feature in cloud version but is really one of my favorite feature as it save my lot of time.

Pros

Atlassian Bitbucket is one of the most popular web based version control repository. Managing code and project are simple with the help of it. We also use Git repository for some projects. Pull requests for facilitate code review also help in improving the coding and help in knowledge sharing with in the team. Code search is also an excellent feature which save time and help us to reach the right code in short time. The Bitbucket pipelines cares for your code from coding to till release. Storing the large media file is also easy with help of Git LFS. Diff views improved in the latest version and we don't need any third party tools for review the side-by-side code changes. Third party tool integrations is also improving day by day.

Cons

Bitbucket self hosted is complex to deploy and need assistant from experts as bad practices in branching can end up with the a lot of troubles. Managing different collaboration is complex so I prefer working on same branch. The free version is good to practice the things but they should also remove some limitation from it.

### "Web data repository that allows optimal management, planning and code collaboration."

June 26, 2018

5.0

Pros

1- Bitbucket is a web repository that provides optimal management and planning of the code of a project, while integrating versioning tools (Git), which provides greater integrity of the project information. Including Git in the web repository, it is possible for the developer to be more easily aware of the changes used in the different modules of the project, as well as to make better use of the time spent on the work performed. 2- In addition, Bitbucket offers the alternative of including collaborators in the code that is being worked on, giving the possibility of establishing permission on the same collaborators and on the different branches of the versioned project. 3- This tool also allows creating unlimited private repositories for free and it is also possible to create different development groups on these repositories depending on the characteristics of the project. 4-In addition, Bitbucket allows the development of code both from the web and from the IDE of the developer's preference. It is possible to import the project initially from the IDE and perform code updates from the web, all thanks to the inclusion of Git in the repository. In this sense Bitbucket grants great freedom of management of code development and remote collaboration of other developers.

Cons

1- Bitbucket is not intuitive, which can hinder the use of this tool when interacting with it at the beginning. 2- It does not have an official client for Linux, leaving it out of the support of the tool.

### "Bitbucket Latest Review 2021"

March 4, 2021

5.0

My overall experience is great, Bitbucket has done a lot of work towards integration with other software and it has really made my code deployment works easier and faster.

Pros

Bitbucket is a great git code management software. I use Bitbucket to store my code, collaborate with my team who are working on the same project as me, test my code either in developer mode or production mode, test and deploy my code in a different format or by importing using git batch. Bitbucket has great extensive features that enable me to own a private code repository free of charge if my team is less than five and upgraded version for team greater than five between a price range of 3 -6 dollars per month which is cheaper compared to what you can achieve with Bitbucket. Its ability to accommodate different programming languages is superb. It also has a great feature for a quality purpose known as version control and continuous integration which helps me to update my code at my convenience without loss or issues arising from my computer clash, thereby making it the best cloud solution. It is easy to use though requires a lot of expertise in the field of software development. I also use Bitbucket to host my project after pushing to my repository. It is very faster and updated regularly by their developers.

Cons

From what I can observe while using this Bitbucket software as compared with other code repository software, is that sometimes I find it difficult to use as regards its user interface and the way it is structured though every company has its unique selling point. I said this because if am using software of the same type before and then decide to migrate to bitbucket, I might find the user interface interaction difficult unless I started with bitbucket first.

### "BitBucket, a great VCS for your Software Projects"

February 20, 2021

5.0

With Bitbucket you will have your SQ repositories managed in a great cloud service which offers you the chance to easily track everything that you and your team are working on. Integration with JIRA is key feature and a decision making factor.

Pros

Bitbucket is a an easy git remote repository. The best part I would say is its integration with JIRA cloud. When you use Bitbucket as your remote repo, you can simply put the JIRA issue (e.g. \[SWL-746\]) in your commit comments and then , when you push your code you will automatically see that the commit has been associated with the JIRA ticket and within JIRA you will be able to see that your ticket is automatically linked yo a Bitbucket branch. This way you can easily keep track of the new features that you are developing.

Cons

I would say that with almost all Atlassian products, the main issue is that their products can be very costly. Specially if your team has more than 10 members.

Alternatives considered

### "Easy version control with BitBucket if you use Jira"

February 24, 2021

4.0

Overall, BitBucket has served us really well as we use it daily for Git version control, Pull Requests and Code Review. It's integration with Jira makes our workflow very easy and transparent, which reduces expenses in doing discoveries.

Pros

BitBucket's integration with Jira is spectacular. I can go to BitBucket commit and see what problem it was solving since it has a Jira link. BitBucket branches can be created right from Jira as well. Jira also shows all commits. This makes information gathering easy and code review pleasant.

Cons

BitBucket has more downtimes that I like. In 2020, there were 2 downtimes within a gap of a month. This is the only thing that bothered us about BitBucket.

I had a great time using BitBucket. It was the first hosting service I used with branching, which force me to learn a lot. I would have liked it a lot if there were a proper tutorial was created for Git, specially for Bitbucket.

Pros

It it probably the best implementation with a suite (Atlassian) for a company and offers a seemless experience all around the board. With SourceTree, colleges should not experience major issues.

Cons

I did have a lot of trouble setting up environments for my build server and even gave up on it once, although it was worth it when I actually achieved it. There are quite a few report options which I would like added in Confluence which relate to Bitbucket's code versioning, but these were not game breakers.

### "Great Platform for Managing Your Git Repositories "

December 13, 2019

5.0

Bitbucket has alway been our only solution for hosting our Git repositories, and we've never thought about switching. Bitbucket seems to care about making a great product.

Pros

We chose Bitbucket over Github, because, unlike Github at the time, it allowed for unlimited private Git repos, free for small teams. Since we chose Bitbucket, we haven't looked back. It's a very reliable tool for us to store our dozens of repositories and set up deployments for our websites. Using Pipelines, included with Bitbucket, we set it up so that all of our deployments to our servers are automatic. All we have to do is push the development branch from our local machines, and Bitbucket will deploy the changes to our development server. If we push those changes from Master, Bitbucket will deploy to Production.

Cons

There is a learning curve in using Bitbucket. For one, it won't make sense at all unless you have a fundamental understanding of Git. Also, it can be challenging to learn how to use a lot of its features. I remember struggling to understanding how permissions work and limiting access to repositories and branches for certain users. It was also a challenge to set up Pipelines for deployment. With all of these challenges, though, once you get over the learning curve, it all makes a lot of sense and works flawlessly.
