Not the greatest. The host was the main problem. The host of Property \[sensitive content hidden\] was ridiculous about not even letting us use the property after she has the money.

Pros

I like booking the room was easy enough, and I’ve used before. I would’ve used them again, but after this experience no I will not. There’s other platforms for air bnb rentals

Cons

I booked a room were expecting nasty rain and was seeing if I could cancel for a partial refund. I canceled to determine that and was told policy of no refund. Fine with that and I would just take the room. The host refused refund and will not let me use the room either.

I would definitely look on here first. I love all the choices and can find something anywhere I plan on going.

Pros

It’s easy to shop for a house to rent in any location. You can go big or small. We have used it 5 times and have always been pleased.

Cons

Only one comes to mind, one rental was advertised as having air conditioning and didn’t but in Portland OR area most homes do not have it.

Regarding my reservation at Property 3702532 (Unit ID 4276677), booked Jan 7–Mar 4, 2026 for 2 adults: Upon arrival, the unit did not match the Vrbo listing and was not in acceptable condition. There was an odor of mold/grease, the floor was slippery, furniture was stained and ripped, kitchen cabinets had grease/lint buildup, and the A/C unit was unsecured with exposed wiring. A TV was mounted over the window in an improvised way. Photos are attached showing the condition and misrepresentation. Additionally, we did not receive the address or access code until 4:15 PM, after check-in time, and only after contacting the host. Due to these issues, I am requesting a resolution/refund. Please confirm receipt and advise on next steps. Photos attached.

Pros

They first took our call but as yet there has been no response since our last conversation with them.

Cons

No follow up from host or VRBO. We have reached out to both parties on numerous occasions but neither taking responsibility.

With Vrbo, I was able to get reservations confirmed within 24 hours and got almost instant customer support for post reservation request.

Pros

with Vrbo travel hotel reservations gets easier with great customer support and flexible policies and payments processes.

Cons

Sometimes looks like a clone of other expedia related products. And lacks some forms of originality aside from its unique colour themes

Rented a lovely flat in Paris for 2 nights. On our first night, contaminated, foul smelling water came up from shower drain flooding the bathroom, toilet area and spilled into the kitchen. Naturally, We laid towels down to soak up the water. We ended up on the phone / email for ~ 3 hours off and on (til 2 am) with VRBO. VRBO said we need to contact home owner / property manager with no response - property was managed by a 3rd party. We sent pictures to VRBO. Property was unsafe and uninhabitable due to contaminated standing water. We had to move out and find other accommodations for our second night. Our incident was escalated internally to VRBO. I asked for reimbursement for second night because we had to leave the property. Not only did VRBO say no, but basically told me that they did not have sufficient proof of the incident - basically they accused me of lying about what happened. They implied that I could have soaked towels and threw them on the floor. This property also listed an air conditioner and washer - neither were present. I recommended to VRBO that they pull the listing until the issue is mitigated. I also purchased insurance through the VRBO app - useless! It does not cover the erroneous listing or the lack of maintenance of the listing. Bottom line - renters beware. VRBO is not there to support or help the renter - they don't care. I was told they could not provide a refund because of lack of proof and that they could be sued by the owner of the property.

Pros

There was a wide variety of properties that were easily identified by location. Filters made it easy to target applicable properties

Cons

VRBO and property management Customer Support was lacking after booking and during our stay. After booking - I received no communication from property management despite multiple inquiries using the VRBO app

When I saw pricing labeled “Total, all fees included,” I reasonably assumed the amount shown was final. Instead, my $1,322 rental ballooned to $1,926.60—a 40% increase—after hidden charges like a cleaning fee, damage waiver, service fee, and taxes were added. The claim of “all fees included” was directly contradicted by these add-ons. Taxes were especially misleading. VRBO claimed they couldn’t calculate them until checkout, which is simply false. My Marriott Bonvoy app has consistently included accurate tax estimates for over 300 bookings. These properties don’t move, and taxes are a predictable percentage. I was deeply put off by the experience and have committed never to use VRBO again. I now consider it a personal mission to warn others and advocate for transparent pricing. There was also an offer of a $200 discount if I opened a charge card account, this disappered in the billing statement, but a very similar amount was charged as a service fee. What service? It was an electronic transaction, and I did the entry. Service fee is BS, it is just a fee added on to a price that supposedly was all fees included.

Pros

Wide Selection of propereties and since I had used VRBO successfully and repeatedly in the past I did not shop and compare.

Cons

Misleading pricing, the ad stated clearly two specific statements that would lead me to believe the cost was much lower. These are Total Price (indicating total), all fees added (yet I had $368.00 in charges labeled as fees). There were popup banners boasting total all fee included pricing.

So I booked a home for our extended family of 8 for a wedding. My sister-in-law from out of state came with her family for this joyous occasion. A week before our rental I continued to receive emails about my rental, including the door code and instructions. Yet when we arrived, the door code was not working. We texted the host via the app but no response. I finally called and someone answered. I explained that the door code was not working. After a pause, he stated that he sold that property 6 MONTHS ago. I then was left to contact Vrbo support. After a half hour support via chat stated that the home was not available for rental since the owner sold the property. Mind you, I booked this property 2 months prior. I was then told by Vrbo that I would receive a refund and that I would be called to help make alternative arrangements. I never received a call, even after the whole weekend trip was finished I never received a call to help with accommodations. I ended up finding 2 rooms last minute for 5 of our party while my wife and daughter stayed at a friends home. The additional cost of the hotel rooms ended up being over $1100. Long story short, after contacting Vrbo support and literally going back and forth for a few weeks, they offered to reimburse me $500 and $250 in One Key cash. I asked for $500 in One Key Cash but they refused. What good is Vrbo if you can't trust the process. Our wedding family gathering turned into us being separated and put a damper on our weekend. We will never again being booking on Vrbo and I suggest everyone the same or you may experience what we did. Thank God we were not out of the country or that would have been a total nightmare.

Pros

Easy to use via the App. I was able to communicate with customer service via the app. You can also communicate to the host via the app

Cons

Horrible Customer Service. I was promised a call to help me make alternative arrangments after the Vrbo we reserved was 'not available' because the home was sold. We were told via the app from customer service that someone would call us to help make alternative arrangements but it never happened.

Pros

This is a service to contact hosts who vary in quality- it does not provide support. It could be useful if you find a good host.

Cons

Please avoid hosts \[sensitive content hidden\]. They promise they will get back to you and do not respond. They told me to cancel after I asked them why they had not responded knowing that I would not get a refund. Then they stopped answering again.

Pros

Vrbo makes it quick and easy to book a rental. They let you narrow down search parameters to find the perfect rental!

Cons

The process for paying for your rental could use some work The last two properties I have rented will not let me pay the full balance at one time, or early.

Our experience with Vrbo has been fantastic. It is so much better than staying in a hotel. We save lots of money by having a full kitchen and preparing some of our own meals. We've never had any problem with access or cleanliness. The owners have always been very responsive if we have any questions.

Pros

We use Vrbo for our vacations all the time. I most like being able to see multiple units on one page, including their distance from key landmarks, like restaurants and shopping. The photos of the interiors of each unit, as well as views from the balcony make it easy to select from among offerings.

Cons

Some information about a unit is often missing in the owner's description, so you have to read all the reviews to find out something very important, such as there's a strange smell, or the elevator doesn't work, or there's noisy construction going on next door, etc... So, I read all reviews.
