Senior Social Media Specialist, Senior Graphic Designer Broadcast Media Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Good value for the money, at the very top" January 7, 2024 5.0 A very good value for the money if you're planning on investing in it for the long run, my company bought it for seniors to start using it, as they mentioned it to be more advanced, the ability to edit your shots in high res, adding that cinematic mode on it and tracking the focus with object tracking sold me, the color grading is on par with high end film software and the rendering speeds on our iMacs are solid, i do recommend it if you're planning on using it on the long run. Pros It's one of the best video editing tools in the market for Mac users, it has unique features that a lot of other editors don't have, the object tracking feature literally is out of this world, and the cinematic mode makes you feel like as if your video was shot straight from a cinema camera, the fast rendering, the auto HDR capabilities are top notch, ability to edit the prores from iphone is perfect, and you can use it to edit 360 videos for virtual tours. all in all #1. Ots always updating to stay ahead never updating to catch up. I've been able to use it more with the ever day features that i feel like I can do with other editong systems. I dont feel like i have to use it with only additional purchased add-ons to get what I need. Cons My least favorite thing about this program is that it is only offered for Apple computers. I do sometimes wish i could take it on the go with me on my ipad, but then again i can do basic clips and layouts through imovie and have it seemless transfer into FCPx and not miss a beat. It's very powerful, seamlessly integrated into Mac OS, and simple to use at the same time. Pros Like most other Apple software, the fact that it's exclusively designed and optimised to integrate with their hardware and broader ecosystem, you don't ever have to think about the technicalities of it; it "just works". Once I dedicated the time to learning how to use it, most things became easy. Even still, there's always more to learn, and more features to explore. Pros I love integration with third-party to provide video effects, luts, and more. I love the customizability of the command sets, and I appreciate that it can be used without experience, and with experience you can take much more advantage of it. Cons There definitely can be a sharp learning curve if you want to do advanced stuff with Final Cut Pro. However, if you put the time and effort into learning, it becomes a powerful tool. Pros It's an okay program for beginners. Offers fundamental and rudimentary applications if you aren't ready for an extensive software. Good transition packs. Cons The software has some weird quirks. For example, the timeline is not static. You basically have to work in chronological order. You can't work on the middle or end of the project without the clips and timelines shifting around. The ease of access never measured up to that of Final Cut Pro so I ended up switching over back to Final Cut Pro. A great thing about it is that it doesn't utilize a lot of my battery percentage so I can get longevity on my battery life when using the software. I would recommend this software to a beginner in the world of video editing. Cons Ater fully editing my project I was ready and eager to export for use. The rendering process took almost forever to complete but I understood based on the nature of the task. After it completed rendering I left it overnight to export. When I got up to check the project it was at 27 PERCENT!!! I cancelled it and retried and it sat there for hours before it could be exported. I had to put off my presentation. I wished there was a prompt that indicated the issue that hindered exporting. Pros It's a clever new way of working with clips in a timeline and clips in general that is entirely keyword/metadata-based. Young people new to editing feel immediately at home. Cons Their fluent timeline and keyword-based approach to handling and organizing clips can be frustrating when all you want to do is create folders and subfolders to organize your footage. I enjoy getting an idea and figuring it out on final cut pro. If you think it, you can do it. Most likely with some help from those on youtube that are better at it. Pros I have been using Final Cut for a long time. When I was a student in highschool this was a really hard tool to use. We used it because it was a great product but it was very difficult. I remember seeing a library of manuals for it in our lab. However, years ago they came out with FCPX and it is very user friendly now for the basics, yet still has the depth to do anything. Cons Wish their was more transitions, effects, etc. You can find tons of this online for a cost or even free sometimes but I wish the program itself had more to start with. The duration of the video is never a problem now. Just drag and drop, add and cut, use effects and transitions. Done! The video is ready for uploading . This is far the best option for editing videos. 2 words to describe it: Fast and Easy! Pros This software interface is very user friendly. Dragging and dropping the video on the timeline directly saves a lot of time. The effects and transitions can easily be applied to one part or the full project which makes the process very fast and smooth. The exporting options like directly uploading videos to a youtube channel directly is very helpful. Cons As this software is premium the best tools and plugins costs a lot of money. So the only downside is the pricing. Because of the price range a lot of my team members can not afford it. Its functionalities are so simple and easy to use for video editors. And it is so faster while using and on exporting when compared with other video editing softwares in the market. They stores all the media files within the project file while importing. So that it looks faster. But, this thing requires more storage space. So that, now I switched to another video editing software. Pros It looks so simple for me to edit, colour corrections, adding sound effects and music. And its export functionality is much faster than other video editing softwares. Cons The only thing I did not like much in Final Cut Pro is, its project file occupies more space in your storage. Oh my Gosh!! Am thinking of switching back to using it than using Priemere pro cause that has the error bug messages. Pros This software is very easy to use, once it's opened on your system everything is just there, very easy to cut, add transitions and colour grade, My best feature was using the chroma key or ultra key cause I really love filming using ta green screen and all I had to do is search "Chroma key" and drag n' drop. Cons this is where I've got mixed feels cause at the time of using the software back in 2015 - 2017, don't get me wrong it was a really nice software at the time but I wanted to do so much more like some really nice transitions and motion graphics or graphics, however, I felt so limited so because of that I made the switch to Adobe Premiere Pro cause it offered so much more plus that's what the pros were using, so that caused me to jump ship Review Source DR David R. Overly simple and overly complicated. Final Cut sits bang in the middle. Fairly easy to use but with a lot of power under the hood. It allows me to quickly turn around a lot of work. Pros I use the caption feature extensively so that our teaching videos comply with accessibility regulations. The auto-generated captions that Google, Stream etc. produce are often wildly inaccurate, and Final Cut Pro allows me to tweak the till my heart's content. Audio editing is very good allowing me to easily take out pops and gaps. My favourite feature I the 'flow' transition which works like some kind of magic is happening. Cons You are rather limited in output formats and you sometimes have to jump through a few hoops to get something done, but compared to Premiere it's pretty easy to get to grips with. Pros For me the most used options are the effects and video filters. Also the extra option of having color grading is really important, which is something that I was missing in Imovie. Cons It's more difficult to use when you are used to something more basic such as Imovie. But... I will say that if you are more serious about your video editing, Final Cut has way more options.
