Using this software helped our team a lot in creating promotional video content. I will be very glad to recommend this product to those who need video processing and editing software. I believe this software is suitable for many companies in different industries. Pros I had the opportunity to work with this program when I was employed by HostHelp as a Digital Marketing Assistant. In this position, I had to create promotional materials, in particular, promotional videos for the company. I can say with great confidence that this software has a lot of great qualities. For example, it has high performance, fast rendering, preview of high-resolution video, and background processing of video files. Moreover, I had the opportunity to work with this software, and I really liked it for several reasons. Firstly, this program has a large number of impressive features like multi-track editing, precision trimming, multi-cam editing, timeline management, and other advanced features. Secondly, it has a magnetic timeline that connects clips. Cons On the other hand, I must note that this program has some significant disadvantages and shortcomings. Firstly, it requires high-performance hardware, especially when working with 4K and 8K resolutions. Therefore, working with it may be very demanding on computer hardware. Secondly, it has a large learning curve since there are a lot of complex features like multicam, colour grading, compound clips, and many others. In addition, there are not enough third-party plugins in the software ecosystem, which is a big minus compared to similar programs. Ots always updating to stay ahead never updating to catch up. I've been able to use it more with the ever day features that i feel like I can do with other editong systems. I dont feel like i have to use it with only additional purchased add-ons to get what I need. Cons My least favorite thing about this program is that it is only offered for Apple computers. I do sometimes wish i could take it on the go with me on my ipad, but then again i can do basic clips and layouts through imovie and have it seemless transfer into FCPx and not miss a beat. Recently switched to Mac so I cannot recommend any other software tan Final Cut for simple yet effective video editing. Pros It is very easy to use. It runs very smoothly on a mac For someone new, it doesn't take much time to learn to use it. Creating motion related graphics is also effective and simple to use. August 4, 2026 5.0 It does exactly what we need for our in-house video work so we aren't outsourcing every tiny edit. The export speeds are a big help when we’re in the middle of a peak season and pushing out new offers every week. It definitely wasn't cheap to get started, but honestly, it’s paid for itself by letting us keep everything internal instead of hiring agencies. Pros We make short promo clips for our water park attractions and seasonal packages. Final Cut handles 4K footage from our action cams without any lag, and the rendering is way faster than our old setup. The magnetic timeline is a big help too, it makes moving clips around simple whenever marketing asks for changes. Plus, I can export straight to the formats our social media team needs without having to mess with extra conversion steps. Cons The one-time cost really took a chunk out of our software budget, which is tough for a mid-sized operation like ours. I would’ve much preferred a monthly option that we could expense differently. Plus, it’s Mac-only, so we had to go out and buy new hardware since our department mostly runs Windows machines for ERP work. That pretty much doubled our actual investment. For example, the timeline is not static. You basically have to work in chronological order. You can't work on the middle or end of the project without the clips and timelines shifting around. Pros I make a living producing videos. I edit videos every single day. I learned on Final Cut Pro 7, and used it for more than a decade. The Final Cut Pro software is incredibly powerful, and if you get into the workflow, it can give you a skillset that you can use to create and make a living as a video editor. Cons I am not a fan of the non-traditional "trackless" timeline. My workflow is all based on the previous versions of Final Cut that had a more traditional timeline. I no longer use Final Cut Pro on a daily basis because of this. Although our editing needs have changed over the years and other software are also being used, we still regularly use final cut for our editing needs. It has worked out very well for us with auto save and features that are simple and advanced to use. Pros Final Cut allows for more advanced editing and video making. The tools and features are not too complex to learn and implement for making videos. Cons When final cut moved from 7 to X, the interface took a major overhaul change. This made some of our users want to stay on the 7 for a while, and a few even ventured into premiere. Pros I have been using Final Cut for a long time. When I was a student in highschool this was a really hard tool to use. We used it because it was a great product but it was very difficult. I remember seeing a library of manuals for it in our lab. However, years ago they came out with FCPX and it is very user friendly now for the basics, yet still has the depth to do anything. Cons Wish their was more transitions, effects, etc. You can find tons of this online for a cost or even free sometimes but I wish the program itself had more to start with. Dragging and dropping the video on the timeline directly saves a lot of time. They stores all the media files within the project file while importing. So that it looks faster. But, this thing requires more storage space. So that, now I switched to another video editing software. Pros It looks so simple for me to edit, colour corrections, adding sound effects and music. And its export functionality is much faster than other video editing softwares. Cons The only thing I did not like much in Final Cut Pro is, its project file occupies more space in your storage. It's intuitive and does things in a way that makes sense. Clips automatically move when you place a clip between them instead of overwriting the other clip. Secondary features (like text or elements) are smaller than your main content. These are the little things that matter! I also think the shortcuts in FCP are super helpful and easy to access. Cons I am a user of both FCP and Premiere. I personally like Premiere better because it feels more robust and has a better suite of corresponding products like After Effects, Photoshop, etc. I like to integrate projects from other programs into my video projects and that integration is seamless when you're using the same product line. I like using FCP for simpler projects where I just need to pop a few things in a timeline, add a pan/zoom, and call it a day. But that's not always the right fit in video editing. October 27, 2021 5.0 My first experience with Final Cut was on the FCP7, while collaborating with a marketing agency handling promotional content for a side hustle I was launching. Seeing how seamless the guy was breezing through the creation process pushed me to give it a try myself for a subsequent project. The price was higher than I thought, but was absolutely worth it. Pros It handles a wide variety of input formats, and has never struggled with any of them. I also find the output file preconfigured options quite useful, meaning I don't have to manually tinker with the output settings to tailor my videos for whatever particular purpose it is intended. I only get to point and pick. Another great thing about Final Cut is the user interface, just as most other apple products, absolutely beautiful and functional.
