Senior Social Media Specialist, Senior Graphic Designer Broadcast Media Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Good value for the money, at the very top" January 7, 2024 5.0 A very good value for the money if you're planning on investing in it for the long run, my company bought it for seniors to start using it, as they mentioned it to be more advanced, the ability to edit your shots in high res, adding that cinematic mode on it and tracking the focus with object tracking sold me, the color grading is on par with high end film software and the rendering speeds on our iMacs are solid, i do recommend it if you're planning on using it on the long run. Pros It's one of the best video editing tools in the market for Mac users, it has unique features that a lot of other editors don't have, the object tracking feature literally is out of this world, and the cinematic mode makes you feel like as if your video was shot straight from a cinema camera, the fast rendering, the auto HDR capabilities are top notch, ability to edit the prores from iphone is perfect, and you can use it to edit 360 videos for virtual tours. all in all #1. Ots always updating to stay ahead never updating to catch up. I've been able to use it more with the ever day features that i feel like I can do with other editong systems. I dont feel like i have to use it with only additional purchased add-ons to get what I need. Cons My least favorite thing about this program is that it is only offered for Apple computers. I do sometimes wish i could take it on the go with me on my ipad, but then again i can do basic clips and layouts through imovie and have it seemless transfer into FCPx and not miss a beat. It has easier access to tools and other important sliders that can be used for a simpler and easier workflow. Pros It's an okay program for beginners. Offers fundamental and rudimentary applications if you aren't ready for an extensive software. Good transition packs. Cons The software has some weird quirks. For example, the timeline is not static. You basically have to work in chronological order. You can't work on the middle or end of the project without the clips and timelines shifting around. It is easy to get started with FCP, and It is a great option for editing short and full length videos and has basic and some advanced effects features and can be enhanced with add-ons. Although our editing needs have changed over the years and other software are also being used, we still regularly use final cut for our editing needs. It has worked out very well for us with auto save and features that are simple and advanced to use. Pros Final Cut allows for more advanced editing and video making. The tools and features are not too complex to learn and implement for making videos. Cons When final cut moved from 7 to X, the interface took a major overhaul change. This made some of our users want to stay on the 7 for a while, and a few even ventured into premiere. The ease of access never measured up to that of Final Cut Pro so I ended up switching over back to Final Cut Pro. A great thing about it is that it doesn't utilize a lot of my battery percentage so I can get longevity on my battery life when using the software. I would recommend this software to a beginner in the world of video editing. Cons Ater fully editing my project I was ready and eager to export for use. The rendering process took almost forever to complete but I understood based on the nature of the task. After it completed rendering I left it overnight to export. When I got up to check the project it was at 27 PERCENT!!! I cancelled it and retried and it sat there for hours before it could be exported. I had to put off my presentation. I wished there was a prompt that indicated the issue that hindered exporting. Editors in a collaborative high-pressure environment are better off with more traditional editing solutions. Pros It's a clever new way of working with clips in a timeline and clips in general that is entirely keyword/metadata-based. Young people new to editing feel immediately at home. Cons Their fluent timeline and keyword-based approach to handling and organizing clips can be frustrating when all you want to do is create folders and subfolders to organize your footage. Also, their fluent timeline can be counter-productive when you're building a sequence like a big mosaic and need to rely on everything staying in place all the time. Pros I have been using Final Cut Pro for sometime mainly to create numerous instructional videos. I have always relied on its great features and abilities to produce short and concise instructional videos. With the use of the powerful trimming and cutting tools, I am able to edit and rearrange footage with ease to create a seamless, cohesive videos. Additionally, the audio editing process is simplified and with abilities to adjust volume levels, remove background noise and add audio effects. The result has been very clear and easy-to-follow instructional videos. The Title and graphics include many title and graphic templates. Occasionally I would import custom graphics for enhanced visual aids and explanations for the videos. With FCPX video effects, I am able to include some transitions and filters just to add in visual interest and emphasis. Cons While FCPX has a great community and accessible online tutorials, I have found that the third party Video Effects/motion graphics and templates are quite expensive in comparison to Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. Overall, It comes out as an expensive editing tool and can be complex with limited support for certain video and audio formats. Oh my Gosh!! Am thinking of switching back to using it than using Priemere pro cause that has the error bug messages. Pros This software is very easy to use, once it's opened on your system everything is just there, very easy to cut, add transitions and colour grade, My best feature was using the chroma key or ultra key cause I really love filming using ta green screen and all I had to do is search "Chroma key" and drag n' drop. Cons this is where I've got mixed feels cause at the time of using the software back in 2015 - 2017, don't get me wrong it was a really nice software at the time but I wanted to do so much more like some really nice transitions and motion graphics or graphics, however, I felt so limited so because of that I made the switch to Adobe Premiere Pro cause it offered so much more plus that's what the pros were using, so that caused me to jump ship Review Source DR David R. Overly simple and overly complicated. Final Cut sits bang in the middle. Fairly easy to use but with a lot of power under the hood. It allows me to quickly turn around a lot of work. Pros I use the caption feature extensively so that our teaching videos comply with accessibility regulations. The auto-generated captions that Google, Stream etc. produce are often wildly inaccurate, and Final Cut Pro allows me to tweak the till my heart's content. Audio editing is very good allowing me to easily take out pops and gaps. My favourite feature I the 'flow' transition which works like some kind of magic is happening. Cons You are rather limited in output formats and you sometimes have to jump through a few hoops to get something done, but compared to Premiere it's pretty easy to get to grips with.
