March 13, 2026 1.0 So I have used the Coinbase wallet for years with no complaints and downloaded the new Base wallet/app a few days ago. I then sent some crypto assets to my new Base wallet. It received the assets no problem. I even sent some more just so that I had enough Ethereum for "gas fees" and so on. All the assets arrived without issue. So then I tried to send the assets (USDT) from the new Base wallet to my Coinbase exchange wallet/address, but it failed. It says that I need to upgrade to the Ethereum network (check screenshots below). When I select upgrade, it states "Upgrade failed. Please try again". I have re-tried this whole process multiple times on multiple devices. I have even tried sending it to another wallet on a different platform/provider, but still no luck. When I try to log in to this same Base wallet using the PC/Browser option, it states that "This Wallet is no longer supported." it was a "Developer preview"!? (screenshot below) I have spent hours working with Coinbase support to try and figure it out. In all fairness, the on-the-phone support team has been excellent and really supportive. However, the 7-day period during which the engineering team was supposed to have solved this has now expired, and I get the impression that this might not get solved for weeks, if not months. I understand that crypto is volatile and all of that, but what we are talking about here is basic app functionality. I didn't lose my logins, I didnt make a bad choice in which crypto to trade in, I chose a stable coin, and I chose one of the biggest and oldest crypto wallets/companies on the market. How are we supposed to hold any faith for this system as a whole if, after years of ordinary operation, one update brings the whole thing crashing down? I hope that Base/Coinbase can resolve this. But I think people need to know that they run the risk of having their assets stuck within a buggy app. Pros \- Old Coinbase wallet was reliable, fast, and simple. - Coinbase exchange is easy to use, fast and good. - Customer phone support is instant and the staff on the phone are amazing. I do like the amount of coins to choose from. Its easy to transfer money to. Just a terrible site experience since the new update Pros I did like the easiness of saling and buying. I thought this site would be good for day trading. It is not. Cons Since the new update, I have experienced sale orders being deleted, buy orders not there when pacific orders was set, really good orders where I would had made good money. Stop loss orders not feeling, screen jumping around on my portfolio page on labtop, or computer. I even woke up one morning with $$$ missing from my account. I would not recommend the site until the new update clitches are out. Also, you should take daily photos of your money. From what they say, you have to have photos showing you had the money. Freedly app and easy to access but I had a very disappointing experience with Coinbase when it came to withdrawing money. As a Canadian, I rely on Interac, which is typically free here. However, Coinbase charged me a 1% fee for transferring funds to my bank. I checked for withdrawal fees before signing up and didn’t find any information about this. Additionally, I found Coinbase's customer support to be unhelpful. The representatives seemed poorly trained and were not able to assist me effectively. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Coinbase. I advise you to think carefully before signing up. Cons Had a technical issue with a sell order that was left open. Tech support said there was a bug going around and to wait, messaged later and they said it did have a bug and it would be escalated and to wait 7 days. I messaged back 6 times over the course of 14 days and every time I messaged they said to leave the open order as it was and wait for the team to respond. During this time I lost a lot of money. When I finally called in and the case was reviewed they said they couldn't do anything about the money and I couldn't speak to a manager. There was nothing to be done. Horrible customer service! I am also grateful for the educational materials Coinbase makes available for users. Pros My favorite thing about Coinbase is the Learn and Earn feature where users have the opportunity to learn about a new cryptocurrency and then are given a a few dollars worth for doing so. It’s a great way to motivate people to educate themselves about new cryptocurrencies. Cons I found it was sometimes difficult to make purchases. There were times when my debit card would work one day but not the next for no apparent reason.
