Professor Education Management Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Easy Contact with Students" February 4, 2022 5.0 I do like that I can use the app or pull it up on the computer for whichever is easier for me. I use it both personally and with my students. Always easy to add or delete people from a chat I start. Pros This software allows me to get my students' phone numbers and communicate with all of them without them having my personal phone number. I can keep in touch with all of them without the hassles of differences in phone manufacturers. It also stores photos, so I can go back and get them later. Cons Sometimes the notifications turn off without me knowing it and I've missed a few messages that way. Doesn't allow for video chats, so I have to use another app for that. Review Source KZ Kari Z. The team members can also respond and communicate in replying to the group chat. Pros Instant chat to the group of people and friends for collaboration are easy to use and can send pictures or videos to the group chat. Cons notification that the message/chat is delivered or has been read by the group members can be improved so that we know if one of the member in the group did not read the chat message . Chats work well. Adding people or making new groups is a seamless process whether on wifi or data. Can handle photos and links well enough. Cons I wish notifications would clear across all devices associated with an account. Pros I like to be able to communicate with large amounts of people without email. GroupMe allows me to do that easily. This has happened to many of us. Having to reinstall an app to be able tp connect with someone is not a good experience. Pros That you are allowed to communicate fast with a group. Cons That it is not user friendly very difficult to set up and create or edit groups. It is a real pain. Reason for choosing GroupMe Because everyone uses it and we needed something other than email. I like that others can chime in and communicate. I overall love the fact that people can "like" a comment in order to show they have read a comment - keeps things accountable. Pros I love that I can set up many chats amongst different departments at my workplace. I like that I can identify when someone has read my comment, as they "heart" or "like" my comment. I appreciate the ability to silence the app so that I am not disturbed by chatter in the chats if I do not want to be. Cons I do not like how challenging it can be to get people added to chats. In some cases if a phone number was used for a previous chat group the system seems to have issues with allowing them to be re-added to the group. I found the "on boarding" process to be laborious. Pros I use GroupMe mostly for school group communication. I like that mobile phone is not displayed on the information tab. Also, very nice thing is the ability to "like" the messages, saves space and no need to type a lot. Cons I cannot see other people's phone number, because sometimes I need to call. " January 23, 2022 3.0 GroupMe is great for easy to communicate across different platforms. Pros This is a good way to keep up with groups of people who want to keep it simple and streamlined. Since we all have different ways of communicating based on the type of cellular and laptop devices are being used, there needs to be a way to do this. GroupMe is a good product to have that is friendly across the board. Cons The only thing that I do not like about this is that is is not familiar and people are sometimes leery of using it. Cons It's slightly difficult to remove yourself as an admin or moderator within the app. I've struggled and have had to had others remove me from it since it wouldn't let me. Members can quickly communicate back and forth as needed. It gets the job done, but I’m not sure how it differentiates itself from standard texting on a smartphone. Pros I like being able to talk to a group of people in real-time. It’s similar to basic text messaging or the group chat feature. Being able to throw get together and have polls easily planned through the app is also a must for me. Pros I love that anyone can use GroupMe, no matter where they live and what type of phone they have. It makes the process of messaging seamless, especially for messages with a lot of people in it. I also love that you can like messages, send out invites that people can interact with, and keep track of people in the group as well as set messages to do not disturb. Cons The only thing I don't like about groupme is that you have to download the app to use it properly. I have no issue with this, but some people who. aren't tech-savvy have trouble with this aspect of the product.
