### "The First but Not the Only Option"

I used GroupMe for many years, however there was a general shift away from this application and towards Telegram for messaging between peers. I still have both and use both. I am constantly using these different software's for different settings.

Pros

GroupMe was Quickly established as the first publicly embraced mass group messaging application. It still holds that wide range of recognition and acknowledgement

Cons

While it was the first, there since have become many other Applications used by different groups in different settings. GroupMe now must compete with the PC interface of Telegram and the wifi calling functionality of WhatsApp.

It's very good to handle group work for events and conferences, and is pretty similar to Whatsapp but with a couple more options like polls and asking questions.

Pros

What I like most about GroupMe is that it makes it easy to communicate with group members instantly.

Cons

It would be nice to integrate it into other project management software, and link a chat to certain projects instead of making a whole new one!

### "Just Started Using It"

Pros

So, we've just started using this at school as a way to communicate as a group. It's been hard to get everyone started since we're all used to texting people. It seems easy to use so far.

Cons

I haven't found anything that I don't like about the software. I'm used to texting people and forget to use this app instead. But, we're working on it.

Pros

Easy to use, can make posts to a public chat or sent private messages. Can add pictures and videos, add avatar.

Cons

Lack of smiles (emoji). Sometimes I don't get notification until I open app.

### "Great way to connect across a group of people"

This is an excellent solution to connecting a large group that exceeds the limits of group texts. Real-time chatting in the group and being able to connect in personal chats is a great option!

Pros

This allows our group to keep in touch when email and text are not an option. We use it to connect our committees, allowing everyone to stay in touch without having everyone exchange cell phone numbers. Most everyone has a cell phone these days, however, not everyone wants their cell number shared with a large number of people that they don't know very well. GroupMe offers the perfect solution, real-time chat with the group is really helpful!

Cons

So far we have not run into any issues using the app.

Reason for choosing GroupMe

I have used this app personally and found it to be a great alternative to text group messages—especially when communicating with a large group of people.

This is an amazing way for everyone to be on the same page sharing and conversing at the same time. So much can be shared through this app!

Sometimes it's difficult to get in and navigate the actual account for each person.

Pros

The ease of setting up and maintaining groups is one of the biggest highlights of this app. Not only can one respond as a group to a thread or post, but you have the capability of private messaging individuals, if you need to.

Cons

There are lots of notifications that are part of the initial setup that you will have to manually turn off or edit. Most apps come like that by default though.

Pros

GroupMe was chosen because it was already being used by some members. We don't have any Android, iOS compatibility issues unlike some software. Despite many of its shortcomings it always just works.

Cons

GroupMe is very basic. It's missing many features I would consider basic for example the UI looks dated. Additionally, I have had many spammers try to contact me through GroupMe, an issue I don't have with my default messaging app.

Pros

I guess the only pro is that you don't have to search through your texts to find a group text chain to send messages.

Cons

There are better apps out there for my purpose to communicate with the sports league other than GroupMe. It was just another way to send group texts but takes up storage and screen space on my phone.
