It might be costly, but now a days, it is a must have for every researcher.

Pros

It is a database of large number of articles with many advantages such as-1. Easy access to full-text articles and other resources.2. Analytical tools for measuring research impact, such as h-index and citation counts.3. User-friendly interface and customizable settings.4. Dedicated customer support and training resources.5. Mobile app for easy access on-the-go.

Cons

Occasional errors in bibliographic data, particularly for non-journal sources. Limited open access content. Also, no option to export search results directly to citation management software.

Pros

Some of the Pro's are-1. Offers advanced search and filtering options to find relevant research quickly and easily.2. Provides a comprehensive view of citation and publication metrics to assess the impact of research.3. Allows researchers to track and analyze research trends in specific fields.4. Offers tools for collaboration and sharing among researchers.

Cons

It one of a kind great tool, but the interface is complex and difficult to navigate. Also, Limited coverage of some niche or specialized fields.

One major advantage of Scopus is its extensive coverage of scientific literature, which includes million of records from peer-reviewed journals, books, and conference proceedings. In addition, Scopus provides powerful search and analysis tools, including citation tracking and author profiling, that can help researchers identify key trends and track their own impact in the field.

Cons

One major limitation is the cost, which can be prohibitive for individual researchers or small institutions. Additionally, while Scopus covers a wide range of subjects, it may not include all relevant publications in every field. It take at least 2 months for a research paper to be added in database.

Nel complesso, Elsevier Scopus risulta un database bibliografico molto utile nel caso in cui si abbia necessità di effettuare ricerche molto precise ed accurate con un numero elevato di filtri per affinare la scelta. Non è invece la mia prima scelta quando necessito di effettuare una ricerca generale e preliminare in quanto esistono alternative più rapide e pratiche per questo compito.

Pros

Scopus permette di inserire un notevole numero di filtri (anno, giornale, autore, topic,...) nella ricerca in modo da poter individuare i propri articoli scientifici di interesse. Inoltre, è possibile anche sfruttare i connettori logici nella ricerca per affinarla ulteriormente.Risulta anche possibile ordinare i risultati nel modo di proprio interesse come ad esempio in base alla rilevanza o al numero di citazioni.Le pagine relative agli autori presentano inoltre un gran numero di statistiche molto utili ed interessanti.La nuova versione, attualmente non ancora definitiva, risulta più attraente e moderna dal punto di vista grafico.

Cons

Il programma non risulta del tutto intuitivo durante i primi utilizzi e nel complesso la ricerca risulta meno fluida rispetto ad altri database di articoli scientifici.L'accesso alla risorsa completa, ottenibile tramite il tasto 'view at publisher' non risulta sempre pratico e comodo.Il periodo di tempo necessario all'upload di nuovi articoli presenta un lieve ritardo rispetto ad altri competitors.

Pros

It has a large database of scientific articles and other forms of scientific outputs; there you can find yourself as an author and see your h-index, the number of your publications and the number of citations your publications received; in scopus source you have access to other journal metrics, such has the CiteScore or the Source normalized impact per paper (SNIP); is a respectable database of high quality scientific journals

Cons

it needs subscription, so as an individual you have access only to limited functions. Some universities/research institutions will have subscription to Scopus, but this is also country-dependent since for example in GErmany the "university system" currently does not support Elsevier and therefore in Germany (and in other countries) we do not have access to Scopus
