What was presented as a fast, reliable transfer turned into delays, confusion, and extremely frustrating customer support with them not only repeatedly requesting additional banking and incorporation documents but repeatedly saying I had not provided it, even though I sent it in more than once. I never did receive fund and was stranded on the highway with it looking like we were going to miss Christmas with our family. My funds were held up without clear explanation, timelines kept changing, and getting accurate information from support was not forthcoming even when they transferred me to a Manager. This created unnecessary stress, especially since money transfers are time sensitive and require trust. While Remitly markets speed and reliability, my experience did not reflect that at all. After 6 days I finally gave up and am now using Wise. Transparency was lacking with Remitly, and the resolution process felt slow and impersonal. Based on this experience, I would not rely on Remitly again for important or time critical transfers. Pros Well, when I started using them, it wasn't this year but they had deteriorated over the years, and haven't been able to solve their problems. Cons I had a terrible customer support experience, what was presented as a fast, reliable transfer turned into chaos, extremely frustrating back and forth. It's very intuitive to use, the fees are very competitive, and it inspires confidence. Pros Payments are sent from verified banks. Furthermore, they are fast and allow for a wide variety of payment and receipt methods, including cash. Cons Sometimes the price difference is too large when you want to change your payment method. There are no proper workflows, with agents repeating the same questions over and over again. refund process takes way longer than the 10 business days. Pros exchange rates was better than western union and my supplier is using this app. there are no other pros. Cons remitly customer team is the worst, i dont know who is the manager but the entire team needs to be replaced. bad communication on refunds and constant redirection to another team. This can be a real problem if you are away from home and they demand access to your bank account(s). Pros Well put together website. Back office and customer service is a disaster. They cannot be relied upon. Cons Total hassle. They randomly stopped a regular transfer and demanded to see a bank statement and made me submit to an interview. Multiple contacts, same result: I reached out repeatedly, provided all requested info within minutes each time. One agent claimed they had “manually verified” my ID, but my account status and banners never updated. The next agent said the transfer was still under review and that I had to answer additional questions in my profile. Wasted hours of my time that I don't have to try to make this test payment work. No proactive communication: I only learned about new requirements by initiating chats; there were no notifications from Remitly. Business impact: I needed this completed days ago, or at least some confirmation it BEGAN. The inconsistency and delays cost me time and trust. I canceled the transfer and will not be using Remitly for any of my four businesses and I hope you don't either. Why you accept at the time of upload the proof and later on reject, returning for failed txn you will take 10 - 15 working days? Sender had sent me a screen shot and it showed it would be delivered in 20 minutes there was no showing any need to contact for info then my sender sent to bed and waiting for nothing again blocking him! Fools! Useless company! I’ll never use them again. Better alternatives out there. Pros The platform does offer the ability to make quick payments and also offers a lot of countries at fair rates. Cons Remitly held my transfer for a full week and then cancelled it, claiming it was a business transaction rather than a personal one. Now I have to wait 10 more days to get my money back. In total, they froze my funds for 17 days with no warning. To make matters worse, they shut down my account, even though they had just started promoting the option to convert personal accounts to business. It’s now been 3 full days, and the money is still NOT delivered. Every time I contact support, I get a different excuse — “under review,” “bank delays,” “technical issue,” etc. If you're going to advertise fast, guaranteed delivery, then keep your word! This wasn’t a casual transfer — it was urgent and time-sensitive. Remitly’s delays have caused serious inconvenience and stress on both ends. Worst of all, there's zero accountability. No real answers, no timeline, just apologies and canned responses. Pros Nothing Cons I trusted Remitly, but after this experience, I absolutely will not use or recommend them again.
