I’ll never use them again. Better alternatives out there. Pros The platform does offer the ability to make quick payments and also offers a lot of countries at fair rates. Cons Remitly held my transfer for a full week and then cancelled it, claiming it was a business transaction rather than a personal one. Now I have to wait 10 more days to get my money back. In total, they froze my funds for 17 days with no warning. To make matters worse, they shut down my account, even though they had just started promoting the option to convert personal accounts to business. Review Source TW Todd W. They incorrectly submitted the wire, it was returned to them, and after 100s of emails and calls later I still don't have my money back (114 days and counting). Avoid at all costs. R65550179139 Remitly wire is still "lost" and Remitly continues to run me around in circles. Pros So far, there has been nothing positive about my experience with Remitly. Cons \- They said the wire would take 1-2 days, it took 14 days which caused me additional cost related to the wire - They incorrectly sent the wire which made it impossible for the beneficiary bank to receive - They have still not "found" the wire transfer even though I have done countless hours of research and sent them everything they need including SWIFT references to track - Their staff was repeatedly unprofessional, uninformed, and sent me around in circles - Now, I get no response from them and still don't have my money back Review Source SP Steve P. March 27, 2025 1.0 My Remitly account was hacked on Dec 6, 2024, with $1,830 stolen via unauthorized transfers to Uganda. Evidence—device mismatch (Windows NT vs. my Windows 10), bot activity, wrong location (VA vs. CA), mismatched phone numbers, a "Change KYC" event, inconsistent names, and an "Unknown" device name—was ignored. They blamed a device ID hackers spoofed and cited their User Agreement to avoid refunding. Their responses were dismissive, even after multiple appeals, leaving me with no resolution. Avoid Remitly—they don’t care about your security! Pros Nothing. My experience ended up being entirely negative due to their security failures. Cons Lack of 2FA left my account vulnerable to hacking. May 26, 2025 1.0 I used Remitly for an “express” money transfer that was supposed to be delivered in 5 minutes. It’s now been 3 full days, and the money is still NOT delivered. Every time I contact support, I get a different excuse — “under review,” “bank delays,” “technical issue,” etc. If you're going to advertise fast, guaranteed delivery, then keep your word! This wasn’t a casual transfer — it was urgent and time-sensitive. Remitly’s delays have caused serious inconvenience and stress on both ends. Worst of all, there's zero accountability. No real answers, no timeline, just apologies and canned responses. Pros Nothing Cons I trusted Remitly, but after this experience, I absolutely will not use or recommend them again. If you value time, clarity, and reliability — look elsewhere. Sender had sent me a screen shot and it showed it would be delivered in 20 minutes there was no showing any need to contact for info then my sender sent to bed and waiting for nothing again blocking him! Pros It's a great way to send money to different countries with just a few clicks. Anyone with basic mobile usage experience can do this. I rung up and knew she was going to hang up on me before I could do survey Pros I could not use it. I got to the video and got passport and proof of address. Video did not detect my face going left to right inside and out. I needed a better phone Cons Video for ID purposes, did not detect my face and you have to turn left to right. Unfortunately i didn't register to receive online statements from my bank and i didn't have any. I sent them pay slips as means on income, and they didn't take that. The only was was to cancel the transaction, and their refund process takes approximately 10 days. I'm still waiting for my money up to now. My worry is, why request for such critical information, which has a possibility of breaking the deal when you have deducted money from my account? When i cant proceed with the transaction you tell of a 10 waiting period to refund, does that make sense? The moment i decide to send the money, it means its urgent, and i cant afford to be inconvenienced further. Pros Various options to remit the money, which is convenient to the receiver. I only used them as my current bank couldn't convert the currency Cons Terrible. Three times I needed to call them when my transfer was put on hold. Each time they never notified me, I needed to find it myself and follow up. Then their customer service bounces you around between departments for ages, many speak only in broken English. They updated me that I can cancel my transaction as the amount was not deducted from my bank account. Else it will be refunded in 2-3 working days. So I proceed with cancelling the transfer. I waited 4-5 days and contacted remitly customer support for my transaction and they updated like it will take 10 days to get refund. I had urgency as I wanted to send money to my parents back home. I would never suggest anyone to go with remitly. They just want to earn with your money in investing. It was a very bad experience, please go with other apps for money transfer. Pros Good transfer rate. But was not happy when I cancelled my transfer. Cons Remitly is bad at refunds. They took 10 days to refund even if you cancel the transaction when the amount is not deducted from your account. Switched from [Wise](https://www.capterra.com/p/234269/Wise/) That was my mistake.
