I am happy, loyal client. Pros I've been using wise (ex transferwise) for 8 years now, and I have absolute trust in this company. I love how simple and transparent everything is. With them, nothing is complicated or sketchy and I just love that. Cons The fact that you cant do much with money besides spend it or send it. I cant believe they dont offer loans or credit, because the problem is that since I've handled my money with them all of these years, I didn't build credit score with other banks. If they would allow you to build credit score with them, offer some type of credit card option or give out small loans, they would be the best. It is connected to my own expenses management platform, which makes it really easy to track expenses. Pros It's easy to use, has good fees for currency exchange and it is a well known platform, which means that a lot of colleagues also use it. Also the API makes it easy to connect to other services. Cons Sometimes the UI bothers me with unecessary stuff that I'll never use. It would be better if it was a little cleaner. Cons The conversion rate was often pretty high, and sometimes the app would show a transfer would arrive instantly (initially), then you later find out it will actually take several hours or even days. I had previous bad experience with a rival company and wise has been amazing: the other company was not good with security features but wise has been so easy to use and fast to set up Pros I love this app ! I transfer my money here immediately after I'm paid and I know my money is secure and stays at same amount. I first downloaded it when I visited London and I wanted to convert my money into pounds. I was able to convert some of my wise balance into pounds which was better than paying in euro so I knew the exact amount. It kept record of my transactions and helped me see what I spent Cons I wished I could have lodged money directly onto the wise account: maybe that's possible if I got the physical card but for now I just have the digital one . I also want to highlight the secure payments because I have been receiving freelance job pays in a secure and fast way. Cons Certain rates are unclear and I may not be too sure if I got the cheapest rate which caused me security issues but it's an ideal option and a great software that helps my value for money when I need to transfer money. My email trail is an indictment upon the way they run their business. Pros The website looked OK and reviews seemed OK and when I went to the Website (for the 1st time) the Rate was OK BUT .......... Cons A simple cash transfer request turned into 34 swapped emails all of which are clear evidence as to Wise being inept, unprofessional and discourteous. One of the worst experiences I can recall with re-request after re-request for data already provided, and then THEY made errors thinking my name was my Banks Name and then THEY cancelled my transaction (probably out of shame given the disgusting disservice they gave me). November 6, 2024 1.0 BEWARE: Wise closed my account without notice after asking me to deposit funds to keep the application process going. They sent me an Interac e-transfer request which I used to deposit $3,000. Then they closed the account due to not meeting their community standards and kept my money. I have been fighting with them for a week trying to get the money back. Since they closed the account before returning my funds they have no record of anything and dealing with their customer support has been an absolute nightmare, have sent and received upwards of 20 emails back and forth and still don't have my funds returned. They require a bank statement showing the account name, a record of the transaction including account numbers and payment reference numbers etc. I have given them all this numerous times now but keep getting passed around and then asked for the same things again. It's an absolute drain of my time and energy. My banking institution where the funds were deposited informed me that the reference number I gave them should be the only thing they need to reverse the deposit. This has been an excruciating process that I still don't have a resolution to after 6 days and over 20 emails back and forth with their support. This should be a simple resolution. Firstly, they should not accept money from me until my account is fully approved. Secondly, they should have returned the funds before closing the account. Lastly, according to my bank, and Interac that I have spoken to, they should only require the payment reference number to reverse the transaction, especially since they initiated the closure and their policy states that they will return the funds. This has been a horrible experience and I would never recommend Wise to anyone in Canada. I don't think their agents even understand the payment systems they use. Pros I think it is a good option to transfer money internationally, it works with a wide variety of currencies and handles very low commissions and a favorable conversion rate, transferring money from one country to another quite simple and practical, as if that were not enough, the transfers are quite fast, when transferring the money received from your Wise account to your bank account, you receive the money very quickly without complications, that way receiving international payments becomes easy, fast and secure. Cons There are services that are not yet available in all regions, such as international debit cards which would be a great help to make payments with your Wise balance, and do not have a support for electronic payments that are on other platforms, so it is only focused on international transfers but does not cover international payment to businesses as such. The hassle I had with them to re-activate my account and get my money back was so big that I can not think of anything positive anymore. The result was that I could not access our accounts anymore and it took me more than 6 months and lots of emails to get the money from my balances back. When I first came here 2 years ago, I couldn't find any easier and cheaper ways to transfer money overseas especially to Asian countries. I need to go to the bank just to transfer money which I couldn't do all the time as I'm a very busy person. I don't have much time for it. I looked up all possible ways to do it online.. most have high transferring fees . Then luckily, I read about Wise transfer from social media and I thought just give it a go...Boom! I can't believe the service is real bargain..they charge me only £4ish for the amount £500-1000. It's hassle free and secure. When you use with debit or credit cards, you'll get the money literally just within a few seconds. I've been using it for 2 years now and so far it didn't let me down.
