### "Easy to use submission system for your manuscript"

December 14, 2022

4.0

Pros

The software is used by many journals/publishers; the submission system is pretty straightforward and contains all the parts that must be included in a manuscript, e.g. keywords, conflict of interest, cover letter etc.; you can easily log in into ScholarOne and check the status of your submitted manuscript, e.g. under review, to the editor, rejected etc.; it is possible to log in into the system via the researcher ORCID id

Cons

sometimes during the submission we are asked to upload unexpected things, but this is a problem more on the journal side rather than on the ScholarOne side; to generate the final PDF is required a bit of time; the procedure for checking/paying the article processing charge might also require some time

### "ScholarOne- Your Shortcut to Efficient Manuscript Submission and Peer Review"

March 9, 2023

4.0

Compared to other platforms, ScholarOne offers similar features and benefits, including standardized templates, automated processes, and collaboration tools for authors, reviewers, and editors. So worth trying.

Pros

ScholarOne is a popular manuscript submission and peer review platform used by many academic journals. One advantage of ScholarOne is that it offers standardized templates and automated processes that can streamline the review process, leading to faster turnaround times. It also allows for collaboration among reviewers and editors, which can lead to more thorough and comprehensive reviews. Additionally, ScholarOne collects data on submission and review patterns, providing valuable insights to editors and publishers.Compared to other platforms, ScholarOne's scalability and ability to handle large volumes of submissions and reviewers make it a good fit for larger academic journals or organizations.

Cons

It may not be the best fit for all journals or organizations, particularly those with specific requirements or concerns about data privacy. Some authors and reviewers may prefer open review systems, which offer more transparency and opportunities for feedback from the wider academic community. Other Platforms, such as Editorial Manager and Open Journal Systems, may offer different features and customization options to better meet the needs of certain journals or organizations.

### "Frustrating and Outdated – ScholarOne Needs Major Improvements"

July 17, 2025

1.0

My experience with ScholarOne has been overwhelmingly negative. The platform is frustrating to navigate, lacks transparency in tracking submissions, and seems to contribute to inefficiencies in the editorial process. Compared to other manuscript submission systems, ScholarOne feels outdated, poorly designed, and unnecessarily complicated. I would strongly recommend journals to switch to better, more user-friendly platforms. Avoid if possible!

Pros

Unfortunately, there isn’t much to praise. The only positive aspect is that it serves as a basic submission portal, but even that functionality is poorly executed compared to other platforms.

Cons

1- Terrible tracking system – It’s extremely difficult to monitor the status of submissions, leaving authors in the dark. 2- Encourages editor laziness – The platform seems to enable delays, with editors losing track of submissions and failing to meet deadlines. 3- Clunky and outdated interface – The design is primitive, unintuitive, and far behind modern submission systems. 4- Lacks essential features – Missing easy-to-use fields for publications, making the submission process unnecessarily tedious. 5- No creativity or innovation – Feels like an archaic system that hasn’t been updated in years. Imagine that I am usually reluctant to choose to publish with the journals that use ScholorOne platform

### "ScholarOne: Pros and Cons of an Academic Manuscript Submission System"

March 9, 2023

5.0

It is a great platform to publish your papers, or for the Journal owners to get indexed with it. But do remember, they maintain quality standards.

Pros

ScholarOne's interface is generally easy to navigate, even for those who are not familiar with the system. It collects data on submission and review patterns, which can provide valuable insights to editors and publishers. ScholarOne's online platform makes it easier for authors and reviewers from around the world to participate in the submission and review process. They maintain the standards of the research papers. For some journals there are at least 2 Peer Reviewers and for some Journals, there at least 3 Peer Reviewers.

Cons

The only thing which I feel is Reviewers who are not familiar with ScholarOne may need to spend additional time learning the system, which can slow down the review process.
