### "Instinct Saves ER!"

April 28, 2025

5.0

We love Instinct! The customer service is also great with any sort of data collection.

Pros

Instinct is great, we love the all in one feature of the PIMS. Instinct has several unique features that promote a positive working experience and takes the burden off of several aspects of ER.

Cons

Having to have another integration system for x-ray was frustrating. You have to have a company such as Asteris for xray to communicate with Instinct. We lost a large amount of charge capture during this waiting phase.

### "Great Program"

September 6, 2025

5.0

I really have liked using it. I went from a clinic with a whiteboard to this and it is much more organized and easy for everyone in the hospital to see

Pros

Very easy to use. Information stays very organized between hospitalized and outpatients. Haven't really had any issues.

Cons

The search feature is a little hard to work/find sometimes as someone who isn't very good with technology.

### "Great product!"

September 5, 2025

5.0

Pros

I love that this product had built in safety features. I utilized it with students and training doctors alike. This product was aesthetically pleasing and made it easy to determine how to prioritize patient treatments. This product is surpassed any other electronic treatment plan system that I’ve worked with.

Cons

I wish that I was able to take pictures of patients lab work in the system to have an electronically upload to be viewed outside the clinic.

### "Great choice"

September 5, 2025

5.0

Excellent use in a busy hospital with multiple patients, doctors, and nurses all working towards the same goal.

Pros

What I like most about Instinct is how easy it is to use. Multiple staff personel can use at the same time to help with treatments.

Cons

Toggling back and forth can cause some time delay when toggling between treatments to fill out discharges.

### "positive, with a few suggestions to offer"

December 19, 2024

4.0

I am overall happy with instinct. I do see those couple of areas for innovation and risk reduction, but like everything I can do so far.

Pros

I like the treatment view for the whole day so I can group similar treatments and avoid stressing the patient too much by touching them every hour.

Cons

When I am late completing treatments I notice they don't reschedule for the proper time interval. I wish they would or prompt to ask when I complete a late treatment. Also would like if a treatment requires handling or venipuncture for instinct to prompt me if the next hour there will be another treatment like that due so that I can group treatments. I know to look at the overall view but a lot of team members won't. I wish specific hospitals could add orders that would auto populate or lists that would be preset that I could choose, like "outpatient monitor" or "post sedation monitor" "boarding", or "Ortho post op", etc.

### "Love it, easy to use! "

September 6, 2025

5.0

Great! I find it easy to use and train new staff members. Nurses love using it because it’s organized

Pros

Plumbs integration and the fact that it calculated drugs and gives me safe ranges. Easy to edit and change

Cons

No sync with our current pins software, can’t integrate directly so costs don’t cover over which is tough.

### "As if Cornerstone and EzyVet had a love child"

December 19, 2024

5.0

Overall, it is a very user friendly, time efficient medical record with a solid treatment sheet. Built in access to drug calculator and Plumbs are extremely helpful.

Pros

I've only used this in the clinical setting- not for data capture or billing purposes. This is my second favorite veterinary medical records platform, after EzyVet. I've used everything from DVMaxx, VMACS, a literal typewriter, Impromed, AIS, and the much hated Cornerstone. Instinct's medical record and treatment sheet interfaces work well, even in the hectic ER. We are able to set up templates for data entry and bundled treatments which are great help with efficiency. The medication calculator is a literal lifesaver. So many medical errors have avoided with this one feature. Ease of e mailing, and the ability to copy/paste, and use snippets are excellent.

Cons

Seriously, though. What is with the breed abbreviations? So confusing.... I'd love the thumbnail feature that EzyVet has, linking rad and US images to the medical record. I'd also like a cat or dog icon (or bearded dragon, we don't judge) to help quickly help identify species.

### "Instinct should be minimum standard! "

December 20, 2024

5.0

I love Instinct. It is simple and easy to use. Hospital notes and information is easily identified. I believe it simplifies work flow and allows for an promotes optimal patient care.

Pros

I love how user friendly Instinct is. It is simple while still being professional.

Cons

I wish you could move the medications up and down on the list. Instead of them going in order they are added.

Reason for choosing Instinct Science

Instinct was working towards EMR at that time. We used paper treatment sheets. Moving to Instinct for treatment sheets and practice management software was ideal.

### "Top Notch training and service for a great program"

July 18, 2025

5.0

Overall we are happy with the program and with the service and support provided to us. The treatment sheets are easy to use and understand and there are many options for how you set up your program within your own hospital. The medical records portion is also easy to use and understand. I would recommend this program to any veterinary hospital in need.

Pros

Instinct is a good treatment sheet and medical records platform. We have had an excellent experience with role out of the product and support whenever we have a question or need help. The team at Instinct is professional and responsive and I am not sure how we could have had any better service.

Cons

There are still some updates and integrations that would be helpful for the program. The team is very responsive to feedback and we have seen several of our request come out as updates.

### "Instinct Veterinary Management Software"

December 20, 2024

5.0

We have been with Instinct since their early days (treatment sheets only) and have appreciated their willingness to listen to their users and make timely adjustments when needed. Love the whole package for Charting, Treatment Sheets and Analytics.

Pros

Simple to navigate and thereby easy to train others for day-to-day charting and accounting, responsive and helpful tech. support when needed, very receptive to feedback and integrating outside ideas into reality.

Cons

At first, some of the integrations (especially with Cubex once we switched our management software to Instinct) were troublesome, but problems have been resolved.

### "A most excellent veterinary charting program. "

December 21, 2024

5.0

I am VERY happy with the program and customer service. It has made my charting and communication with the hospital VERY efficient and easy.

Pros

I have worked in the veterinary industry for 13 years and this program is by far, the easiest, most efficient and intuitive program to use for record keeping and hospitalized treatments. I can easily change from charting view, treatment view and discharge instructions in one area. Treatment entry is instantaneous. I can also refer to my treatments as I am writing in my chart and vice-versa which makes record keeping fast and easy.

Cons

I wish that when I am looking at an uploaded document that I would be able to separate the page. This would allow me to read through the document which is often previous hosp notes/diagnostics AND type my notes into the chart at the same time rather than open the document, copy my notes, close the document and then type information into my record.

### "LOVE Instinct for Vet Hospitals"

May 1, 2025

Our team relies on its use for in and out-patients. Definitely an overall positive experience to our culture and workflow!!

Pros

Instinct is an amazing tool to help our hospital with treatments and aid in communication across departments.

Cons

No negatives about the software. I'd love to use the electronic medical records aspect, but we have not yet implemented.

### "Instinct review"

December 20, 2024

4.0

My overall experience has been good. It's usually very user friendly.

Pros

Easy to use even without much training. People who have not used anything like instinct can usually catch on quickly.

Cons

Sometimes it freezes especially if too many people are on it. I wish that anyone could add things to the data base like alerts and treatments but management has to okay them so it takes more time. An example would be "deaf", if it isn't in the system already you have to ask for permission to load it and it would be easier if you could just add things as a normal user. It sometimes says medical terms are miss spelled but other than that I don't have too many complaints.

### "The modern veterinary software"

December 19, 2024

5.0

Great experience in use and with customer support

Pros

Instinct is the most modern veterinary software I have used. It looks nice and is very user friendly. The treatment board is awesome, super easy to use and helps calculate doses. The best part is that it is always getting better and the team takes your feedback into account!

Cons

There are some bugs that still need to be worked out and improved on, however, as noted above, that is always improving with instinct! Unlike other softwares that haven't changed in years!

### "Instinct is worth looking into"

December 23, 2024

5.0

Fantastic program. Makes having patients in various parts of a large hospital easier to manage.

Pros

When we first adopted Instinct for our large specialty and ER clinic, I was not sure I was going to like it. And while there was a learning curve, I cant imagine how we did things without it in the past. Sure, one of the main features/points is for charge capture, which is important, I am more of the how does it help me do my job. I love that I can pull up my patients treatment sheet anywhere in the hospital and make additions when I think of them rather than the next time I find myself in ICU.

Cons

The logic behind some of the codes still eludes me. To this day I can never remember what misc owner medications is under. I do wish you could edit those fields to things that are more logical to your own mind rather what someone thought made sense many years ago.
