Using Hadoop, data processing is parallelized and Spark support provides further boost to all you work. Pros Amazon EMR allows to balance data processing over all the cloud machine provided from Amazon EC2, using Hadoop ecosystem. Each single data processing job can be divided in to two or more step, which can be run alone too, making data processing managing user friendly. Cons Setting up Amazon EMR is not easy at first sight and you need a bit of experience and time to reach the optimal conditions for your applications and processes to run efficiently. With EMR, cluster size is just one config change away. Pros I like how easy it is to spin up a ready-to-use Hadoop cluster using EMR. It takes away a lot of the infrastructure work necessary to use Hadoop tools and spark. Cons I don't really have anything I don't like about EMR.
