It's been a solid product that allows me to maintain a number of email lists of varying size utilizing Amazon's SES service to send, which, when set up properly, works fantastic and which is much less expensive to use than the all of the major email marketing platforms. I've got it down and have relied on it every week for years do what I need it to do. The one big issue I have with it is support. I had some issues with setup early on in my usage of Sendy, then get it running smoothly, then years later another issue cropped up. In all occasions I contact Sendy via email as well as attempting to open a ticket in their support form. In some of these occasions my email was never responded to, and my post in the forum was never approved. After numerous followups with an ongoing issue with the product I felt ghosted by the developer leaving me thinking I need to look for a product where, especially if I pay for it, the developer will actually respond. So...if you get Sendy working and don't have any issues, you're in good shape. If any issue comes along, you're at the whim of the developer who may or may not every respond to your support request, or bother to approve your post in their form so you can, at least, interact with other users who may be experiencing similar issues. Very disappointed in the support experience of Sendy which I've been relying upon (mostly successfully) as a paid user for yours. Pros Fantastic and low-cost product that does much of the basic email and list management functionality you'd find in other services (Constant Contact, MailChimp etc.) that charge monthly fees. Cons Complex set up, but once you've got that done you're, for the most part good to go, unless you need support in which you're at the mercy of the solo-developer responding to your requests or approving your support query in the Sendy support forum. Pros Remarkably easy to set up, great integrations and pricing. Cons The interface, whilst very functional looks a little dated but that is about the only negative. We liked it less when we had to install it (even for our tech savvy humans) but the cost savings makes it 100% worthwhile to learn and setup. The interface isn't stellar, but it's not terrible either. All in all, we like it, but if you're on the "not-at-all" end of the tech spectrum, you're likely better off with a hosted provider. Pros It's a fantastically affordable alternative to Mailchimp, especially as your list grows. The software is a one time payment which is also awesome and then you only pay per email (a super low cost). Cons You need some technical chops to care for it. It gets installed on your own hosting server (so you need that first) it also is not all that straightforward to install (but they do offer installation service for a fee). That said, if you can learn to navigate it and live with the lackluster interface you'll save SO MUCH MONEY that it'll blow your mind! It's quick-working, so you can have your email ready to send and out almost instantly after designing. Even with the cost of the license fee, it is a massive savings from hosted services like Mailchimp. However, there are some caveats (some hosts block, bandwidth usage) that can be problematic for people with shared web hosting. Pros Sendy is simple and easy to use. It integrates well and easily with Amazon SES, which means a significant savings for anyone used to paying for services like Mailchimp. Some design software like BEE also integrates with Sendy, allowing you to do WYSIWYG design before sending mass emails. Cons The software has to be installed on your own web server, which is fine. However, it's not open-source and some of the code is further encoded, which leads to some web hosts blocking installation of Sendy as potential malware. Other hosts have noted that mass Sendy mailouts use a great deal of bandwidth in comparison to software like phplist, which does not cause the same issues.
