### "intricate usage"

August 31, 2022

3.0

It takes months to fully grasp the overall usage of the software

Pros

It has the simplicity of referencing work or articles without hustle.

Cons

This software could just put all the various libraries together and avoid the hustle of getting to individual libraries to get an article.

### "Easier way to cite papers"

December 8, 2023

4.0

Overall, using endnote for bibliography is much easier than using the refence option on the Word itself.

Pros

I have easily added the endnote extension to Word and for citing a paper or a book etc., I just download the endnote file from google scholar and add to library. I like it that after having the paper source, I can cite it easily in any fil that I want. The best thing is that every detail of the paper is on it and I don't need to add information manually.

Cons

One thing that I don't like is that it doesn't save which library has been used in a specific file, so switching between files/papers I have to make sure to switch the library.

Switched from

[Microsoft Word](https://www.capterra.com/p/227146/Microsoft-Word/)

I still use the Word itself but for the referencing I use endnote because it is easier to have the files and information for each refrence.

### "EndNote: a powerful bibliographic management software"

January 22, 2023

5.0

EndNote is an excellent program for keeping track of references and generating bibliographies. It's easy to collaborate with others and integrates well with word processors, but it can be pricey and has a steep learning curve.

Pros

Capacity to work effectively with a team. Users can easily collaborate with others by sharing their EndNote libraries, ensuring that everyone uses the same sources and is on the same page. It is easy to insert citations and generate bibliographies while composing a paper. Users with more than one computer at their disposal will appreciate EndNote's cloud-based storage option, which makes it possible to access the user's library from any device.

Cons

The software does not come for free, and the price may be too high for some people. It also has an interface that is a little bit complicated for first-timers to use. Spend some time studying the interface before attempting to use the advanced functions.

### "Excellent app to manage references"

May 5, 2022

4.0

I really enjoy working with Endnote

Pros

The thing I like most about endnote is its capacity to save all the references in the cloud. Thus when I am using a new computer I can just login into my account and download all my references. I can also cite the capacity of Endnote to add references directly into MS Word files.

Cons

Sometimes I notice some crashes when using this app on Mac computers. I also think that the sync function works very slowly.

Its compatibility with various databases and ease of citation insertion into manuscripts have significantly streamlined my writing process. Despite the cost, its robust features and reliability make it a worthwhile investment.

Pros

EndNote is a comprehensive reference management software, and I can obtain reference files from various sources, ranging from Google Scholar to the default landing pages of major journals.

Cons

The price for students is relatively high, which can sometimes be unaffordable without a funding source.

### "Way too slow when handling tens of thousands of references"

November 20, 2023

3.0

Pros

The shared libraries facility. The output to BibTex.

Cons

The software is way to slow when dealing with a large library of references. I have a library of over 20K references. If you try to share such a library with another researcher, it takes at least five days to transfer. The CPU is at 100% all the Time during such a transfer. Support was no help to resolve the issue.

### "Extremely useful tool for Academic Referencing"

February 26, 2025

5.0

My overall experience with EndNote has been very positive. It saves me a significant amount of time and effort by helping me organise my references efficiently and ensuring my papers are always referenced accurately and professionally.

Pros

I have been using Endnote as my main referencing software for many years and find it invaluable for saving time and effort when writing academic papers. Being able to import references directly into Endnote from the Academic Journals is particularly useful and the 'Cite While You Write' feature makes preparing a paper very simple.

Cons

Endnote does take some time to get to grips with. For a novice user, it can appear daunting but once you get the hang of it, you realise that it was worth putting in the time to learn how to use it. There are lots of really useful videos on YouTube, some made by the Endnote team themselves and many by ordinary users, which demonstrate how to use the software.

### "Expensive but useful for academics"

July 19, 2022

5.0

Pros

This is useful for academia. We use Endnote for our citations since it connects nicely with Microsoft Word. You can download and import endnote citation files from PubMed and it will import all the meta data. The user interface is quite nice too compared to Zotero.

Cons

They keep changing versions and sometimes I lose citations when updating my library.

Writing papers and managing references are both made much simpler by Endnote. Additionally, you can collaborate on projects and presentations with others by sharing a library.

Pros

The user interface is easy to use. I appreciate the ability to automatically add Google Scholar citations to my Endnote library. I like the fact that you can browse your library on other machines with Endnote and save it to the cloud.

Cons

This software is not freely available and it is too expensive.

### "Endnote, un outil puissant de gestion bibliographique"

November 29, 2022

4.0

### "EndNote is perfect for citing references while you write and keeping track of everything you read."

October 24, 2023

5.0

I love EndNote. It is easy to set up, use, and update. Honestly, I do not have the time or the patience to add references to documents manually. (Who does?) Given the additional ability to share the library, I couldn't do without this awesome software.

Pros

What I like most about EndNote is its reliability. I have a team of three and EndNote allows us to share a single library. It helps us keep track of the search database where we found the article and which of us added the article to the database. I used to use a competitor and it did not do anything close to that.

Cons

EndNote could only do better by adding a live customer service or technical support team., even if only chat. Of course, that would probably increase the price of the product. Its list of "help" articles is so extensive, the only thing one has to be concerned with is the amount of time it might take to find it.

Reason for choosing EndNote

EndNote is a far superior reference system to RefWorks.

### "a must-have"

March 21, 2023

5.0

Absolutely necessary. I could not make a bibliography with Endnote. Literally. It remains among the most difficult of tasks for me. But I can copy and paste author and title info within Endnote and it will assemble these for me. I love the Cite Whilte You Write in Word -- it updates, it saves me massive amounts of time, it creates footnotes, which are the bane of my assistive tech, it works brilliantly. It saves me hours of time and makes it possible to take notes and eventually piece together sources into a report without having to have someone assist me with writing and cutting up source quotes all over the floor. Without Endnote as part of my assistive tech, I couldn't research and write the way I do.

Pros

I love the fact that Endnote has the potential to gather sources for me, though I haven't yet figured out how this works, possibly because I don't have access to some of the pay-walled search engines that attach to it. I love the fact that references can be created, edited later, and I love that PDFs can be attached to the reference and imported into other programs as needed. This is an absolutely necessary feature for me as I need an accessible way to organize and keep track of sources, as well as ensuring that they are screen readable PDF before loading them into any other program. Because of the way Endnote is made, I create the screen readable PDF and attach it to the reference. Once the reference imports, I know that the PDF will be functional in any assistive tech I may use. I love the idea of the ratings feature because I know there are many sources I may read but which may not be neccessary, and the ability to rate them is very important to know what to look for later. I can label folders and put sources in them so I know what to do with them later. This helps keep my workspace tidy in Endnote and reminds me what I need. I love the Endnote Online and Endnote intregration, and use the Capture Reference quite often. If I'm researching heavily, I can use Endnote daily, sometimes weekly. I'm sure there are many more features I have yet to use.

Cons

I'm sure there are but I can't think of them at the moment. Because of the steps I need to take for assistive tech, I wish there was a way to batch scan, ocr, and load items into Endnote and then into my coding software, so I could have the computer do the six steps for every documents to be accessible before I even read it. However, this isn't Endnote's problem. I'd just love to be able to have the documents I need assembled in advance so I could work directly on what I needed without having to spend time making them accessible first.

### "Research paper writing made easy"

July 15, 2023

4.0

I would absolutely recommend EndNote, the only downside is that it is not a free software and come at marked price. This is not a problem when you are working for an institution that has a subscription.

Pros

Easy to organize research projects and their references, and offers the added advantage of being able to share projects with colleagues. The feature I love the most is how I can download a metafile with citations from a web of science database, this has made my systematic reviews a lot easier.

Cons

It is not free and although some higher education institutions have a subscription, every time I move to a different institute I lose all my library. Although it is easy to download and export citations, I still have to download the PDF's manually. The interface is not user friendly, makes it difficult and time consuming to navigate.

### "many other software on the market, but Endnote remains the best"

April 15, 2022

5.0

I personally have used it in many scientific papers. I am nowadays mostly using it as a pool of scientific articles in my field of research. It is a great tool.

Pros

We use this as a quick means to grow our scientific library. It offers great ways to search for entries and it can be easily integrated into papers. Yet another plus, it is quite flexible.

Cons

I am still getting confused when I see this huge amount of different ways of citations. That has always bothered me, but when you find the one best suited for your purposes, it is perfect.

### " EndNote : un outil de gestion des références"

December 24, 2022

4.0

Pros

Cons

### "Citation Pal"

April 27, 2022

5.0

Overall good experience and offers the good features.

Pros

Makes citation of large documents pretty much easy. No need to remember the source of the documents, just click and select the reference to be added. Since last year very good improvements found in the updates. It also manages the library of all your research articles and books. The Endnote click ad on integration is very good.

Cons

The education version is not available for every institution, the institution must have a subscription. A little bit pricy if you purchase it for your own use. Most of the work needs to be done manually which is very cumbersome. The placement of the reference section is not sometimes correct and makes it difficult to change afterwards in the final draft
