FFmpeg Reviews
"The most versitile solution for anything media-related"
Overall: There is no alternative tool with the same feature set as ffmpeg.
Pros: Whenever I need to perform any media related processing, conversion, editing or recording, I know that no matter the task's complexity - ffmpeg can do it. The ffmpeg command line program allows me to convert literately any media file into, again, literately any media file. This includes advanced processing, editing and encoding using the best open source encoders available for any format.
Cons: You definitively have to dig deep into the documentation when doing anything more advanced with ffmpeg, meaning that it may take some time to accomplish what you want. This is however expected from such a powerful command line tool.
"my experience"
Pros: They are the best tools right now on the market for manipulating images and videos. In my case, what helps me the most is being able to validate file extensions and manipulate videos or photos before uploading them to the back, saving me costs in transformation APIs.
Cons: At times, the documentation about the tool is very common.
"Swiss knife for media processing with CLI use cases "
Pros: Huge featureset offered by the solution. Expendable or interfaced with by 3rd party hardware accelerators. Very thorough documentation. Fine tuning is extremely useful. Easy to incorporate in scripts or other pipelines.
Cons: You really need to learn all the tricks and very specific tunables to get best results out of the invocation. Can have troubles with MKVs or multiple sources with multiple streams into single output file (results in stuttering) where MkvToolnix works without issues with same streams.
"Excelente opcion"
