It helps to protect work to avoid any potential loss. web design is somewhat challenging and time-consuming- being able to back up and store copies of my work is great as I hate repeating the process. Pros I use updraftPlus for website backup, restore, and migration. It's such an amazing WordPress plugin that I can't do without.It helps me to generate backups for my websites easily and they come in separate categories ( plugins, themes, uploads, and others).I also like it because it provides options to remote backup, restore,e and migrate websites. This is awesome as it helps to better secure the backups and also they won't have to occupy spaces on the server.It is easy to use and has a simple worker interface. Cons One thing that I would have loved to see being improved in updraftPlus is the ability to download all the backups as one folder. If there was a means to directly compress these backups into a single folder the backup processes complete, It would be better than downloading them one after the other.It goes also for restoring. this would have helped to save some time. Designing a good website takes time, effort, and money and if I can't secure my work, then there's no need.The updraft plus plugin is my #1 recommendation for website data backup. Pros I've tested out a number of data backup & recovery plugins for WordPress and among these, Updraft plus has been the best of all so far.I use the Pro version which gives me extra premium functionalities like: Backup scheduling -which is automatically carried out on a weekly basis to ensure data safetyWebsite cloning & migration which enables me to directly transfer my data or a customer's to either a new host or domain with no stress.The pre-updates feature is one of my favorites as I back up my actual data before any updates (either, a plugin or theme is made on my site. this keeps me safe from any damage an updated plugin or theme might cause.I like the way the manual data export is done. The tool splits every single folder on my website and ensures that the maximum content folder to be exported is approximate, 400MB in size. This helps to speed up the restoration process during recovery.The updraft plugin is very good in terms of performance, easy to use, and very very affordable. Operations Publishing Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Great product but poor support" July 27, 2023 4.0 A good product experience soured by lack-lustre support. Pros We regularly need to move content between wordpress sites, and initially Updraft was the best option we were able to identify. It allowed us to seamlessly move content between different domains without bothering with manual database updates and the like. Cons 9/10 migrations would work perfectly, however occasionally something would go wrong and you would end up with a site that fell over. This would have just been the price of paying the game, but we found that support had absolutely no interest in helping us to resolve. For example, we were transferring Site A to Site B and something went wrong in their migration flow, and Site B ended up completely down with server errors. We lodged a support ticket, and essentially ended up with a week of one line "it's a server error, so it's your problem." responses. Eventually we did enough digging to work out something had gone wrong with the database transfer, and that manually ftp'ing the content and importing the sql would fix the problem and complete the migration. However, the total lack of interest made me wary of continuing to use the plugin, and we might move back to one of the other ones we tested previously. Reason for choosing UpdraftPlus Initially we chose it for the well-developed migration feature, as long as you had the plugin installed on both sites and the key set for authentication, you could send and receive backups as well across different domains. That's why we schedule external backup, varying the frequency according to the type of content update that the client has. We often make use of the migration plugin, as it makes it easier to start a new site from an existing one. With that any ready-made site becomes an easy template for the next one: you export the previous site, install wordpress on the new site, and import the backup, UpdraftPlus converts the references to the new link and that's it. This is also useful when the old site doesn't use HTTPS and you need to start using it, or when the client switches www. Pros The most interesting feature for me is the possibility to clone an existing site into a new one: you export the backup, import into the new location and that's it! All references and links are adjusted, no headache. The scheduled backup in multiple locations, including cloud providers is also great, but migration for me is a differential that only UpdraftPlus have. Cons The only problem is the cost, if you need to pay in dollars but from another currency and the quote is not good. Facilitaria has a monthly plan. Other than that I have no criticism. Alternatives considered [Solid Backups](https://www.capterra.com/p/210716/BackupBuddy/) Reason for choosing UpdraftPlus iThemes is great for security, but for a backup system it doesn't have the same proposal as UpdraftPlus, nor the same functions. UpdraftPlus is for more than just backup. Switched from [Jetpack](https://www.capterra.com/p/234833/Jetpack/) They are not quite the same thing, but there are JetPack functions that were used for this purpose, but they were slow and limited, so we switched to UpdraftPlus. Pros We've tested a lot of website backup plugins and finally concluded that UpdraftPlus is best of the best. With UpdraftPlus, backing up & restoring content is very easy and effective unlike others that would messup the process after dissipating internet data.UpdraftPlus enables us to backup (both on local and cloud storages), migrate and restore data in all transparency. The process is quite easy and works well with websites running on the latest versions of nginx or ubuntu servers. Cons So far this plugin hasn't shown any signs of negative behavior. It was found that UpdraftPlus is not compatible with all operating systems, which could be a hindrance to users of particular devices. It takes time and it was not perfect. So, with my projects growing, I need a solid backup solution. With UpdraftPlus you get covered. I understand why it is one of the best backup solutions. I must restore after some update's errors. And I was so glad to get back my website in minutes. I highly recommend it for beginner or confirmed WP administrator. Pros I love his simplicity and efficiency. Once installed, you have just to set up your backup routines and the cloud storage and it does what we want: perfect backups and perfect restores. It is one of the first plugins I add to a new site and it is on every site I use. The free version of the backup plugin works with minimal effort and I rarely have any issues with it. The only downside to this is the admin dashboard notifications can be very annoying but it is a free version. I recommend it. Pros It works great in the background with minimal setup required. It is very easy to set up in fact the only setting I change is the backup frequency. Cons The admin dashboard notifications are frequent and annoying. Especially when it gives you the option to "Dismiss for 12 months" but it comes back in a week. They almost always have a new notification on the dashboard every week. It's very easy to use, works great, and is affordable. You don't need to be an expert at wordpress to setup the backup system with updraftplus. The plugin can also restore your site from backups off-site which means you will never lose your website data again! And the best part is, it also integrates with backupsheep so that my datas are always safe in multiple baskets. Cons During Restoration, numerous times I have had to restart the backup process due to a snag. Whenever I run the backup process, I always have to download the backup files one by one. You can add on services for an additional cost if you need them. You can also link the premium version to a number of popular cloud-based programs such as One Drive and drop box. I also like the ease of use and the ability to set up a backup schedule for selection times and dates. Cons It can be a bit confusing to start using.
