The major issue arose when IONOS/Mail.com decided to discontinue the @lawyer.com domain. Customers were given approximately four months to migrate. For a business user, changing an established email address is not a simple matter. I have more than 120 accounts tied to this address, along with banking, professional services, subscriptions, marketing systems, business materials, and numerous other accounts. I contacted the company looking for a continuity solution, including forwarding, but was not given an option that would allow me to maintain reliable access to mail sent to the old address. IONOS's Legal Department explained that the decision was final and cited the company's Terms and Conditions, including Section 4.1.8 concerning termination of email addresses when the provider's rights to use certain domains terminate or expire. The experience highlighted a significant vendor-dependency risk: an email address that a customer has used for decades can ultimately remain under the provider's control. If you're evaluating an email provider for a long-term business identity, I would specifically investigate what happens if the provider discontinues your domain and what transition or forwarding options are guaranteed. They are easy to get on the phone or by email when you need help and aren't too pushy with their other products. Pros The tools provided by Ionos are simple enough that even a beginner can use them. They integrate email campaign and SEO marketing strategies that can be set up in minutes. All products they offer are inexpensive and easy to cancel if you you change your mind. Their customer support is responsive and appears to be US based. Cons Not as feature rich as some of their competitors. Good for a small business, but anything bigger will want more on the analytics side. The website options I chose came with SSL at no cost. Then as I was going through checkout process I was offered a business website at a great deal and accepted it as well. Except what I didn't realize was that now I would have to pay for SSL since somehow the email subscription trumped the domain and the email didn't come with free SSL. I spent over 2 hours via chat and on the phone with customer service the following day trying to get this fixed since nothing was mentioned to me during the purchase process. They would not budge at all and wouldn't add the SSL for free, even though nothing was ever mentioned about the difference in accepting the business email as well. I also never received a call or message back from my advisor/consultant that was assigned to my account. Pros The price point is decent and I haven't had many issues with connectivity and emails going through. Cons The customer service is definitely not customer centric and speaking with management or even getting their email is basically obsolete.
