Course delivery is very smooth. Pros The first thing that comes to mind about mastera is its ease of use. I could onboard, set up and launch my first course in less than 2 hours flat ! Although simple to use, it has all the powerful features of a modern course conducting platform, both from content delivery point of view and from technical point of view: 1) There are options to make courses (called programs) with multiple videos and attachments, live classes , on demand videos and even sell digital/physical products ! That's quite a repertoire of options you can offer the courses in. 2) It has brilliant in app marketing features like a message widget which goes to your in built inbox and for which there is also a native app using which you can reply to your customers on the go, email marketing is in built , tracking codes for Facebook pixels et al , blog to improve upon your SEO and content marketing , and a full website building capability. 3) One can also completely white label the platform, add a custom domain , buy Mobile Apps (iOS & Android) and TV Apps as add-on, host videos, add own payment gateway and integrate zoom. Cons It sorely misses a quiz functionality as of now. Besides that, for my use case almost everything exists. Integrations using zapier et al is missing right now, but they have said that it is due to be released soon. I think it is a platform with a lot of potential and the team responds very quickly to the queries and questions that are asked through the chat. If they keep working hard to implement new and better features, they will most likely become one of the greats within 1-2 years. All the best for Mastera! Pros Mastera is a swiss army knife With Mastera you can do almost everything. You can teach courses online, offer live classes, 1: 1, you can also sell online and physical products, which is great. It offers direct integration with Zoom and Zapier for any tool you can think of to integrate. I like the idea of white label mobile apps and also for TV. You can create your website, so you do not need to resort to an external CMS for it. Cons \- I miss more direct integrations, so far there is only Zoom, Youtube, which forces me to hire Zapier to integrate other tools - the course progress bar does not work if you have your videos embedded in Mastera (this could be solved by adding a "lesson completed" button that users can use to move on to the next lesson) - subscriptions do not give users access until the end of the billing cycle when canceled, so users will lose access to videos, regardless of the last day they paid - At the moment you cannot add links to the texts of the lessons (completely necessary to obtain income through the referral links) - does not have a community to answer doubts and questions from students Alternatives considered [Thinkific](https://www.capterra.com/p/132888/Thinkific/) Reason for choosing Mastera its price is much lower and the range of possibilities it offers is much wider. That's what this is build for. And that's what it does right away. You can adapt it for other purposes. But it might not be a perfect fit today, then. What is impressive compared to WordPress + WooCommerce: Everything I might want to use is already there. Just like that. Mastera has features that my bigger site does not have. I would have to buy and install even more plugins … Also great: Compared to WordPress, this is super low maintenance. Generally, I would say: It has a great and helpful feature set. The features themselves are sometimes simple compared to something like WordPress + WooCommerce. But that can also be an advantage because I am less likely to waste time and energy on decisions and details that are not that important in the end. The backend is nicely designed. There's a slight learning curve until you find all your options and features. But I think it is easy to understand. The front end looks equally good. Cons You have to live with what the Mastera team integrates and how they integrate it. Or you have to hope that there are enough others with the exact needs and wishes that the Mastera team will listen to you. And planing on membership portal for my students. So 3 different software solutions + membership in the future. Wordpress+LMS, VadooTV and calendly+zoom. I was thinking how to do this on wordpress. As I'm not a techie guy, I was stuck on options and overcrowded market of LMS and video hosting choices. Not anymore. Now I will host stand alone online course (LMS), and also free and paid VOD library, membership, 1 on 1 couching sessions on Mastera.io. Plus now I can use scheduling feature right on my website. And do zoom meetings inside my website as well. Pros LMS, VOD, Membership area, Meetings inside the platform, Scheduling tools. All of it is in one place. It is fun because it is so easy to set up. You can go live in maybe an hour or so..! Pros When you are somebody trying to teach people something (personal trainer, or music teacher like me), than you don't want to spent millions of hours at WordPress designing your homepage (I did that once, and that's already enough). Still, you don't want to miss the most important features like subscription payments, your own domain, whitelabling and marketing. I am happy that I found Mastera because they offer almost all of it. Cons It's still a product in development somehow. That doesn't mean it is not working (it is working extremly well), but that I miss some stuff which would make my life a lot easier (easy facebook-login experience for users, more payment options and being able to double sync Google Calendar). Mastera was exactly that without the technical headache. I can now teach courses with live classes or videos, while also selling digital or physical products. I am very pleased with the solution and look forward to what's to come with new features. Pros Easy to deploy, excellent customer service, extensive reporting, rich feature set and it puts video at the center of the experience. It's also a complete solution to build a site online if you don't already have a website and are just getting started. Cons No Google Calendar sync and limited ability to customize system text but otherwise no issues. I can't say I am happy, I can't say I am sad. Mastera has a lot of potential, depending on how seriously and how faster the \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] consider feedback from us buyers and implement them. Pros 1\. I loved the UI, 2. it's on Lifetime Deal right now so it's relatively inexpensive, and 3. prompt customer care. Cons 1\. It's complicated to use compared to other LMS such as Thinkific and Teachable. 2. I paid the top tier and still they are putting in the "TEACH ON MASTERA" banner on my website, and asking me to pay $9/month to remove it. None of the LMS platforms out there that I have used does that. Not at least for their highest paying customers. I have already requested them to remove it and if they don't I would probably seek a refund within the 60 days time I have from AppSumo. Will migrate to some other LMS. This is a deal breaker. 3. I don’t have the most technical background and using the backend is intuitive and user friendly. And this may sound trivial but I love the fact that all of the features on the website are pre-made and active right from the start. Cons I am still getting to know the platform and so far I haven’t had any negative experiences, but when it comes to features, I am curious about the capabilities of the shop. I have teachers who would sell products as well. I am very happy to have found Master as an Appsumo offer, since it has many current and future capabilities looking at its roadmap. It is a very good option to be able to have free plans, memberships and single payments for video on demand, live classes and complete programs available in a single site. The ability to have an LMS, a website, and an email and marketing service all in one makes it very attractive. The zoom integration for meetings and live class is great, in such an easy way I look forward to the Spanish translation of the site. I bought License Tier 2 because I plan to launch more training courses in the future. I am very happy with the deal! Pros There's some great functionality in terms of how Mastera have thought about setting up and selling events. I also love that we can build a whole website with a simple builder/editor. Plus, the other built-in things, such as marketing emails and integrating with Zoom (and, at the time of writing, YouTube Live will be added soon, hopefully) is great. Cons I'm looking forward to more integrations, including the likes of Goog Meet, for those who prefer it to Zoom. Also, I'd like to see more options with formating of terminology, such as "programs" (US spelling) to be not just "programmes", but the option (as other platforms do) to call them "courses", "workshops", etc., as well as other customisation for terminology such as "module" or "section" within a "course" or "workshop". Where we had a wordpress website it’s lots of plug ins and a straining database, was starting to gravitate towards teachable, mailchimp and social tools, we can clear that stack and use this as a single point of entry. Pros It’s a great all in one solution for building and managing a business teaching people using video. It has great features to get you started and means you can manage most of what you need to do in one place, from organising your courses, taking payments, designing and building your website, communications with customers through the platform and even doing your marketing (albeit with a competitively priced add on wit’ll be using at some point. Then as you grow your business and have a enough subscribers to pay for it, there are options to create android, iOS and Apple TV apps. Cons It’s a slightly steep learning curve to begin with and could do with more help and getting started guides. That said, the community, Facebook group and customer support is fantastic. I initially overcomplicated things expecting a lot more options in the menu having used Wordpress. It is actually quite refreshing having a simplified layout which can achieve most of the things required for a membership site. Pros 1\. Ability to upload videos directly in the Mastera platform without having to create our own buckets on AWS or similar provider. 2. Simple yet powerful UI that is well designed and set out. 3. Able to set up live training with Zoom. Mastera handles all of the required Zoom details after a class has been booked and paid for. 4. Ability to set up live classes, VOD or sell digital or physical products. 5. Helpful support team. Cons 1\. Checkout doesn't allow option of allowing someone to pay using a bank transfer where Bank details would be provided if the customer chose this option. We would have to manually set up their account but it would still allow people to pay for a subscription / class etc. 2. Doesn't appear to have upsells or bumb sails at checkout. I think this may be in their roadmap. 3. Cannot integrate our own autoresponder through the dashboard. Reason for choosing Mastera Kyvio 1 to be phased out only a year after purchasing which I wasn't aware of prior to purchasing which meant transferring everything over to the new platform too continue with them. When that time came their support had an amazing response time and was super helpful. Pros The ease of use was so refreshing. All I needed it for was to sell courses, it had that with a beautiful aesthetic, and was surprised with all the other features, such as live classes, booking appointments, and event the ability to sell physical products. Cons Not being able to integrate my calendar into the booking features, I'm sure that will be implemented at some point. Over that period, I’ve spent literally weeks if not months going back and forth with support agents all over the globe, submitting ticket after ticket, and even attempted to tinker with PHP coding, an uphill task for someone with no background in coding. Two years later, I’m embarrassed to report that nothing has come out of it. It’s been a total exercise in futility. Then someone suggested that I check out Mastera. Mastera allows me to host my video content, conduct live classes via Zoom, manage my class calendar and booking with embeddable widgets, and even sends out automated class reminders via email and SMS notifications. Mastera even allows me to sell products and has Stripe native integration for payment. Everything in one app and ready to deploy right out of the box. No more messing around with APIs, PHPs. It literally makes my life so much easier and the headache that I had for managing my bookings is now completely gone thanks to Mastera. This is such a wonderful product and service. Pros Easy to use interface, fast setup time, user friendly and super easy to manage. Great for the non techy types like me! Their customer service is also next level! They say they don't work on the weekends but they responded to my request anyways. Great service.
