Pros I was looking for an easy solution to group many databases in the same SSMS and same SQL instance. Cons it is not free, otherwise I can't say much on the con side. Software Engineer Computer Software Used the software for: 2+ years ### "SQLTreo SSMS AddIn Cures Tendonitis and Other Problems" March 8, 2022 4.0 The virtual folders help us organize our stored procedures and functions in a tiered architecture, which leads to higher quality, maintainability, testability, and reusability of our code. SQLTreeo support has always been responsive and helpful. I've submitted several issue reports and have always been satisfied with the outcome. Pros In my view, SSMS is still far superior to Azure Data Studio for Data-Tier Application development, but it is woefully lacking in developer-focused creature comforts. This product effectively eliminated the scroll-wheel-induced tendonitis pain caused by constant navigation through hundreds of Procs and Tables in SSMS Object Explorer. I like the ability to reorganize my "view" of the DB without altering object schemas or affecting other devs' "views." Integration was super easy, and the UI is intuitive. Cons Additional customization of the Object Explorer context menu would be nice. I'm not a fan of the DELETE option right above the Refresh option! I think there is a ctrl+click shortcut to Modify a stored procedure, but it has been buggy in my experience. There is a disconnect in SSMS (because it is based on Visual Studio) when it comes to files vs object scripts. I would like to see the SSMS AddIn help manage that disconnect. For example, warn me if I script out an object from Object Explorer to more than one open Query Editor Window. There are times when I can't find an object and I suspect I may have sorted it into the wrong virtual folder, or perhaps I just have the name wrong. It would be nice to quickly disable the AddIn temporarily to allow me to browse all objects. The only way I know of to do that right now requires an SSMS restart. Reason for choosing SQLTreeo SSMS AddIn Neither SSMS suite offered quite what I wanted. They focused on massive, totalizing development suites and doing things "their way" rather than simply improving the basic usability of the existing SSMS features. The AddIn is very user-friendly and intuitive, and I was able to start using it immediately without any issues.One of the best features of SQLTreeo SSMS AddIn is the ability to visualize the database schema, which makes it easy to navigate and understand even large and complex databases. The search function is also very useful, and I can quickly find the objects I am looking for without having to navigate through different menus and tabs.The performance analysis feature is another great addition, which helps me to identify and optimize slow queries and other performance issues. Technical Architect Legal Services Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Long Time SQLTreeo fan" October 18, 2022 5.0 This tool helps the dev/dba get down to business quicker with a clearer understanding of the db schema. Pros SQLTreeo SSMS Add-In is what SSMS should have been from day 1 and still falls short. I've used this tool in several companies since first coming across it in 2008. I think I was one of the first adopters as I was given a lifetime license. I recommend this be in the dev/dba toolbox to every company I go to now. I would not be without it. Cons Tree refresh used to be a little slow when there was a large no. of folders. Not sure about cloud support as SQL Server has limited support for extended properies.
