The system is user friendly and contains good amount of details which makes it a pretty good system to use. There are some challenges in set up, including figuring out how to implement changes and variables and tailor things to a company's specific needs. But the team gets through it with you. Overall a good system. Pros Its easy to read, follow and track once you login. The system has great details and is able to understand quite a bit of variations and nuances. It is a simple tool to help me keep track of my stock options. Pros Certent is great to help me understand my equity grants. It, very clearly, lists out my grants and any relevant information. Cons While the tool is very good, I wish it provided more aggregate information and analysis. Its great to look at one line item/one grant, it would like to see more data about the set as a whole. This has allowed us to filter our reports, broker integrations, etc. based on plans and participants, for example. I love that there is a "sandbox" for testing changes and uploading data before doing so in production. Cons In the beginning, we had a dedicated account representative, but that person has changed a few times over the years and we've lost touch. Submitting a ticket for urgent help has been frustrating when I really needed help in the moment and couldn't wait 24-48 hours. I've had some very important settings in broker integration suddenly change without my knowledge, which affected grant and vesting data being sent to our broker. We tried to set up the Section 16 module, but with our company having some legacy plans before we spun from our parent, it was becoming too difficult and too costly to properly pull in that data. Pros Certent provides stock plan administration reporting capabilities with multiple reports for both internal and external reporting. Our client relationship manager, \[sensitive content hidden\], is awesome and has bi-weekly touch base meetings to provide frequent communication. Cons Certent tax information connections with our broker are not the best, but mitigating controls are in place to provide accurate data is received by the broker for certain transactions. I rely very heavily on Certent and the Customer Service. The customer service is consistently exceptional. Cons I think the reports are good but I do wish there was some customization available on some. We have a saying in the office when something doesn’t add up, “it’s not the software”. The analytics and depth of product is incredible. Pros The Certent software came highly recommended and they have never disappointed. It is an extremely robust and powerful software platform. Cons When they got acquired there was decent staff turnover. Reason for choosing Certent Certent came highly recommended, and has the support staff that is always available 24/7. September 15, 2020 4.0 Pros It does pretty much everything you could want an Equity Management platform to do. And the Support Team is always available and knowledgeable. There hasn't been an issue I couldn't get through with the support and product. Cons It is one of the most expensive in the industry. I have tried to justify the cost for a long time and wish they were more flexible on the pricing. It also has some less-than-intuitive menu schemes and data reports that feel would be an easy fix, but they aren't ever addressed. Pros This software is so easy to use. I have used another system and the number of steps I had to take in the other software was substantially more than what the same action required in Certent. The reporting in Certent is easier. Literally, everything but dividends is easier in Certent. Cons The broker link with Merrill Lynch is not set up to accept Dividend / DEU accruals. Customer service is on West Coast, so hours can be a little tricky for East or Central time zone (but the help desk is good). Reason for choosing Certent We needed a broker link and the other option had too many options - very mix and match. Certent's broker link was much simpler and straight-forward. Cons Setting it up, I had a tough time with the Rep. I think it could be more user friendly... intuitive. It feels more like a Microsoft product that I have to learn rather than an apple product. Pros The software is really easy to use and quite intuitive. When I have had questions though the support has been outstanding. Support has been very knowledgeable on the software as well as the tax and accounting principles around equity accounting. I often learn new information just discussing my issue. Cons I'd like an easier way to do imports. I don't use it enough so I have to go back and review how to do it each time. Now I usually just input items manually to avoid the learning curve.
