### "An alternative to Solid Works"

January 10, 2022

5.0

All in all, it is a wonderful program.

Pros

The best thing about Inventor is the numerous modeling and analytical tools that are available for users. Unlike other modeling programs which offer a limited range of tools, Autodesk Inventor gives users everything including a built-in stress simulator.

Cons

The biggest downside of Inventor currently is that it is outdated compared to other programs and much more difficult to use. For instance, in rival programs, it takes much less time to create a simple 3D shape compared to Inventor. This is down to the fact that in Inventor, everything is manually done.

### "Excellent software for engineering modeling."

May 30, 2019

4.0

I use Inventor daily for mechanical engineering projects and it caters to me in a complete way, proving itself to be a reliable tool for engineers and designers.

Pros

iLogic and its features undoubtedly make a difference in a positive way. The ease of creating parametric assemblies is also an excellent point.

Cons

Unfortunately there is a kind of flaw in the level of detail when placed in detail sheets.

### "Very good software"

August 12, 2022

5.0

Pros

I really like this software for its ease of use but also its extensive rendering and capabilities. It is one of the leading players in the world and deserves it. Many file types are convertible which is an advantage for mobility.

Cons

Each software has its own defects. For me, it lacks some powerful calculation systems in simulation that put it slightly behind other competitors but are much more expensive in terms of licensing.

### "Takes 3X longer to finish a project"

November 24, 2018

2.0

Not intuitive at all but if you have hours to waste, you can eventually finish a project that would take half the time on another program.

Pros

Inventor has the capability to perform powerful tasks and sometimes with more ease in certain circumstances than with competitor software.

Cons

Above is far and few between. The possibilities are powerful but 1st you have to get through hours of frustration of finding the correct tools. Nothing is intuitive and it seems like you need a full class before using. Even then people who were so called experts struggle to use Inventor.

### "Inventor Review"

October 11, 2022

3.0

Pros

the price was very affordable for the features of the software

Cons

The ease of use is not very high when it comes to 3D design. The 2D drawings didn't look the way I wanted either, so I preferred to switch to another software.

### "Great for quick modeling, easy-to-learn"

March 14, 2018

4.0

Pros

I learned this software in one class at my school in just a month or so of low commitment. It has a nice amount of features that are easily accessible. There are many tutorial videos online detailing how to do certain things if you are ever stuck.

Cons

It is hard to contact customer support. The support is all over their online forums, and it is difficult to solve certain problems when you cannot chat live or talk over the phone. Also, the software will crash if your memory is low, so it is important to always save.

### "Inventor 19"

October 24, 2018

5.0

My experience with Inventor has been very good from a modeling perspective. I have not found anything our company designs that could not model.

Pros

Inventor is easy to use with plenty of modeling power to do most any job a company has. I have not found any parts our company uses that Inventor could not model quickly and accurately.

Cons

Random crashes doing normal activities. Some functionality can be a little difficult to figure out why the feature fails to modify. Especially when you can create the feature from scratch successfully. Seems to be missing some functionality I was used to with SolidWorks especially in the assembly constraints but that may be due to lack of training. BOM control can be tricky I found out recently. Again this may be caused by a lack of training.

### "Inventor for new inventions"

December 16, 2021

5.0

Generally this is great! I have just started practicing for my own experience. There is no direct business need at my current role - but as engineer i am having lot of fun when have a free time!)

Pros

Most of the things are - this is best coolest version of AutoCAD(which i have started from originally more than 10 years ago)

Cons

Sometimes difficult control - difficult to fins necessary functions - but that is mostly because i am beginner in Inventor

### "Excellent 3D design tool for professional results"

March 21, 2018

5.0

Thanks to Inventor I always get the best results, in conclusion it is a success more than Autodesk

Pros

I have been using this tool for some years, but before knowing it, I already managed several Autodesk products, so when I acquired it, it became quite familiar because its templates are very similar, it is very easy to use, and the technical support is unbeatable.

Cons

In future updates should improve the modeling of textures that in my opinion is something poor, I think it is the only defect that has the program.

### "is the best program to create pieces or objects in 2D and 3D, nothing compares is the giant in this "

March 6, 2018

5.0

with this program I have designed pieces that I have printed in 3d

Pros

It is simple to use and the results are professional, it has a wide variety of formats to import files and the compatibility with other formats is excellent. this program is a work of art

Cons

the processing of renderings should be improved, in this version they have not done much emphasis on improving this element of the program, also in long working hours the program usually loses stability

### "Excellent CAD program"

January 19, 2020

4.0

Inventor is a robust CAD package with all of the bells and whistles one needs to design parts whether it be modeling, sheet metal, or for additive manufacturing.

Pros

As a heavy user of Solidworks by Dassault, I was a bit hesitant when my new employer said they used Autodesk's Inventor solely. However, I was suprised, after I got used to the nuances of the system, how much I liked working with it. Some features, such as the quick dimensioning in sketches, I liked more than its Solidworks' equivalent.

Cons

There were some "getting used to" features such as mouse commands and on-screen maneuvering techniques. But, all in all, Inventor is an easy to used CAD package.

### "Lots of functionality but takes a bit to learn"

April 27, 2021

4.0

Overall the experience has been great and Inventor is almost a necessity for anyone who works with cad drawings.... all drafters and engineers will want to learn this.

Pros

Inventor is a lot like most "drawing-centric" programs. It takes a long time to learn and be proficient and you always learn new features as you use it. It definitely pays dividends to try to learn as much as you can about it as it's a very powerful tool. In the world of autocad drawings, this is a must.

Cons

It takes awhile to learn and it's not very intuitive. It can feel like a bombardment when you open the program for the first time. You should start slow and watch youtube videos and read guides for one thing at a time. Challenge yourself to learn something new but do it at a slow pace and don't try to learn everything at once.

### "Inventor is the most intuitive CAD software that I have ever used. Almost everything is visual"

September 8, 2017

4.0

Beautifully rendered complex models

Pros

I have used mostly inventor and and Solidworks. Inventor is a lot more closely linked to the visual environment. The "snap-to's" are stronger (eg they suck in your cursor more easily) and I really like that. Also I found that it was a lot easier to design parts into assemblies. ABOVE ALL I like the Grip-Snap feature for moving parts in the assembly. I also love how you can animate the assemblies. I haven't seen other CAD Programs that can do that. The material renderings also look a lot better in Inventor.

Cons

It is really hard to import things into inventor (eg. STL files and other CAD file types. I would often use Solidworks to do my importing and save it as a file type that works better in Inventor. I also really like the mechanical mates that you can do In solidworks. It was harder to do those mates in Inventor assemblies. I also found that Inventor was more likely to crash my computer than Solidworks.

### "Reduces electro-mechanical system design "

September 29, 2019

4.0

It has helped to collaborate with the engineering teams effectively in the system design process. For more complicated systems that have inter-dependency on mechanical and electrical domains, it has helped.

Pros

Autodesk Inventor integrates really well with other Autodesk products that provide collaboration to a deeper extent between various engineering disciplines that include mechanical, electrical and civil. Whenever a mechanical assembly is updated it automatically notifies and updates the electrical wiring. Autodesk rendering of the assembly and components helps to visualize things effectively.

Cons

The user interface is not friendly as compared to Solidworks. The amount of time taken to design a mechanical part in Solidworks is much faster compared to Autodesk Inventor.

### "great CAD tool package"

September 10, 2018

4.0

great, simple and quick, but not very stable CAD tool.

Pros

extremly easy to use - in my opinion on top together with SolidWorks many possibilities - from simple 3d modelling through kinematic to FEM analysis.

Cons

not very stable - getting better with newer releases but still have a way to go (can crash several times a day without any obvious reason). very limited FEA - but this was probably meant for simple analysis, as in all CAD tools.
