We used this to design sheet metal parts to be punched by a CNC and were able to build complex assemblies. Pros Very friendly interface, real life looks, stable, capable for very large assembly. Excellent API and PLM. 3D PDF. I say almost due to I feel like it may have something missing but I don't know. " October 25, 2018 5.0 Pros Inventor is an incredible software for 3D modeling parts. It is great for designing things to be 3D printed and for modeling parts for small or large businesses. It has great feature including being able to change the material of the model and preform FEA on it. Cons Another great feature of Inventor is the ability to be able to assemble multiple parts into one design, however the constraining of the parts is often tedious and difficult. I just wish there was a cheaper version that would make it practical for personal users to own the software. Pros This software is my favorite software for 3D drawings. There are shortcuts everywhere that I stumble upon constantly and make me love the program even more. My favorite is being able to use different units for a dimension and the size is still correct. I would pick this over autocad LT to make drawings every time. Even if it is only a 2D drawing. Inventor is a user friendly software and makes drawing anything a breeze. I do all of my models in 3D in inventor if i have the opportunity too. Cons When you begin assembling a lot of components my computer begins to bog down. So understandably I am asking a lot of but this would happen with any software that is over loaded in an assembly. Pros You can make the design and assembly of any mechanism or machine, as well as its cutting, plans, calculate resistance of the structure and even make the animation and see how it will actually work. Cons Unfortunately, it is quite complicated to manage and requires a thorough study of its various functions in order to make the most of them. It takes them no time to execute on any of the requests that I make from them--no matter how difficult the task might be. Pros Inventor is a very powerful tool that I would highly recommend to every designer, inventor and craftsman. The GUI is intuitive and the number of features that are available is quite comprehensive. Cons There are no real cons to this software. I only wish that hard copies (i.e., permanent downloads) were still available. It is very stable and not prone to software crashes, even when running on Parallels. The CAM side works very well with HSM. Cons It does not run natively on a Mac. Much better than Solidworks in this regard. Cons Hole feature does not have the robustness of SolidWorks. It is not possible to mate to planes and other non-model features.
