February 12, 2020 5.0 Cisco WebEx allows our Foundation Board members to connect remotely from their own demographic location. They don't physically have to be in the room. This has allowed our Board membership to become much more diverse demographically. We recently conducted an RFP process. We used WebEx for the different firms to connect to meetings for their presentations. Pros Cisco WebEx allows our Foundation to increase the demographic diversity of the Board. With WebEx we can now have members from all over the United States and or the world. WebEx allows our demographically diverse members to participate in Board and Committee meeting remotely. Cisco WebEx functionalities work well to allow multiple and back-to-back meetings to proceed without overlapping into eachother. Cisco WebEx allows our Board members to connect and actually see each other during Board meetings. Cons Some of our users have trouble navigating through the connection process. Some of our Foundation Board members connect via video and others only through audio. Occasionally there seem to be some connection issues on the members joining the meetings. Pros It's easy to use for both small and large groups. I love that it allows me to save personal meeting room links to my own profile so I can click into someone's meeting from the same window and I don't have to search for a link. I also like the option to have the tool call my phone or the alternative of using my computer for audio. I used it in previous companies as well so I can say with a confident that is very practical and stable platform for web meetings of any kind (1 to 1, conference etc.) All featured are there by default (screen sharing, recording etc). Pros \- Easy to Install and use (Mobile and PC). - Perfect VOIP tool for scheduling meetings and giving demo sessions to internal user and clients. - Screen-Sharing and White-Boarding is breeze with this software. - Option to record the session is an advantage. - Users can call-in using the phone or connect via computer microphone, which gives the user to use the functionality as per wish. - "Start Meeting" tab gives an option to start the meeting with a click. It worked well as a complement to our in-person event in 2019 and was a solid virtual event platform this year and last. Pros Socio is a very intuitive, easy to use platform. We used it a couple of years ago for our event app to go alongside an in-person one, and then in 2020 and 2021 as our virtual event platform. The Restream integration worked really well and looked professional, and the customer service was responsive and helpful. Cons Captioning was a bit of a challenge, and many of our speakers wished that they could interact with the attendee chat during their sessions. That was probably the thing we heard most from folks. I definitely recommend it for your online meetings. Pros There are a number of features that make Webex one of the best online conferencing application. Screen sharing is very reliable and taking control over the screen is also seamless. Taking polls and asking questions are also very nice features, especially for classrooms. Cons Apart from the limited 40 minutes maximum meeting time, there is nothing I dislike about Webex. Its subscription are a bit expensive but definitely worth it. The messaging system was ok, but my company ended up switching to Ring Central. Webex gets the job done and it's easy to integrate on Outlook calendars, but depending on speed and user interface, Webex seems dated. Pros Easy to use and navigate. I used this daily with scheduling meetings. Cons It does take a while to call in. Once you are in, it's fine but it seems more time consuming than other conference call meetings. Used this for a while but then we had to switch to another software. Pros You can setup meetings and have video and audio meetings with other people but it didn't always worked correctly. Cons Communication was not stable. Sometimes you need to restart it, disconnect and connect again, check camera and microphone settings etc. Also, it requires you to fill a small form before joining a meeting which is not practical compared to other alternatives like Microsoft Teams or Zoom where you can almost instantly join meetings. If not for the integration within Outlook, I would recommend we switch to one of the many other available video chat softwares out there. Pros Cisco Webex is the software my company uses for video and phone calls. It is functional and allows large groups of people to connect via phone or video. It is integrated within Outlook so we can easily add a Webex to a meeting invite with one click of a button. I would say this is the biggest pro of this software. Cons Webex is extremely simple and lacking a lot of features that, while not necessary, really enhance the video chat experience. For example, you cannot view the video of many participants at once. Your options are limited in what you are able to look at during the video call. Also, there is no background blurring option, like Microsoft Teams has, and no virtual background option, like Zoom has. Those touches help enhance the video experience and make it more enjoyable. I also find that Webex has a worse connection than Microsoft Teams and comes off as more laggy. Pros As far as remote meeting platforms go, Cisco Webex has the combination of functionality, ease of use, and security/privacy needs. The service is generally reliable, integrates with MS Outlook and Exchange calendar, and performs well except with the most narrow of bandwidth limitations. Cons People constantly start talking without unmuting themselves first. This should be more prominent and/or more easily noticeable by the person trying to talk. Also, if both on web version and dial up phone for audio, can unmute on one platform and still be muted. It would be great to somehow the 2 be linked and muting mutes all audio, and unmuting unmutes all audio. Review Source Chris H. Pros Webex is really easy to use both for teachers and students on a remote learning setting. It was like automatic for most of the users with little to no need of lengthy introduction or practice with the software. We also use some other platforms similar to Cisco, but for the purpose of hosting and recording remote court hearings, I don't think we could have made it without Webex meetings. Pros As someone whose organization is already heavily invested in the Cisco products, having the Cisco Webex Meetings product is absolutely crucial and integral to our new "work from home" normal. I work for the Courts so we are still having to hold Court, record the hearings, be able to share them and do everything that we need to do. With Court being held by remote hearings, we could not do this Cisco Webex Meetings.
