Owner Construction Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Misterio (aka Materio) | Our Love, Hate Relationship" October 3, 2024 4.0 The reason I titled my review "Misterio (aka Materio): Our Love, Hate Relationship" is because I firmly believe Materio will be able to help solve a lot of our internal struggles with project management and it does have the majority of the things I have been looking for in a software project managing tool. My only gripe is that it feels like were are still in the very Beta stages of the program and I wish more research and consultation with Design Build firms specifically would had been done before launching it and offering it in the market. I think a lot more testing should have been done with these types of companies prior to advertising and selling Materio as a solution for a Design Build firms. It has actually not saved me time like I was hoping. It has been a bit of a time sink since there are so many things that are still being flushed out. I also didn't appreciate the pricing jumping from the original advertised price of under $150/month to almost double that now. The pricing was one of the main factors I switched over and for it to quickly go up shortly after I signed up was also disappointing. HOWEVER, like I said at the beginning of my review, I do believe Materio will be a viable solution and I do hope to one day really really love Materio! Pros The ability to keep track of all the details for each project and most of all the ability to do take offs. Cons The finances and processing purchase orders, invoices, and expenses. We also have a much easier time with client design hours, tracking, and billing. Pros Materio is very easy to learn and master quickly. The functions are organized clearly and most importantly with thought to a designer's flow. Cons There is still a gap with the CRM side. We understand the need to not have a phone number but often feel the ability to quickly explain things is lacking. Since its a new software, we sometime just want to pick up the phone and explain it rather than type and hope you get it. We think you guys are doing an awesome job and need to find a way to get your name out there more!! None of my designer friends know about you guys, but would LOVE you! Here to help however we can - we are big fans! Pros It is obvious your team knows the industry and has studied it significantly - kudos to you guys! You have met a serious need in the design world. I can't speak for construction, but as far as the interior design world is concerned, you have met our needs and we will forever be clients of yours. It is visual and intuitive. We understand you are new and will constantly be improving but what we appreciate most is the ability to communicate with your team and the QUICK updates you often integrate based on feedback. The design world has always needed a software that can do it all, all the while being easy enough to understand for clients and for people that are visually driven. Cons After months of use, I still don't understand the estimates vs live projects feature and not sure if/when that would help us. We adopted Materio about halfway through a project - a project that has a very large budget and isn't so attuned to going over or under, just as long as it is justified. I don't need change orders so to speak - just a way to give a "estimated" budget but then if the client chooses a sofa that is $30k more than expected, then it's not a change order, but just a decision and he sees that reflected in the total. I lost sleep once we "invited" our client to see everything because I felt like we couldn't see his settings or fully understand what he saw. We want an easy way to send him furniture options but doesn't need to be notified if he chooses something higher than he initially planned for. He'll be able to see that when he chooses option A or B.Example: Our client expects to spend 2.1 with us for his project. (That is zero construction, just design) (Some of that is time billing, some is furniture, bath hardware, art, etc) He may spend 1.8 with us in the end. A few thousand to him here and there doesn't matter so we want to show him: here is your budget and here is what you have paid us to date and here is what is left. ALL ON ONE PAGE - He has made the comment, he wants to log in quickly and see what kind of liquid cash he needs on hand for the coming months so a "remaining balance" so to speak would help. " September 18, 2024 5.0 10 out of 10, again can't sing their customer service higher praises. The best part is being able to manage, truly every aspect of our projects on the platform. Sourcing, design library, takeoffs, scope of work, internal communication, client communications, selections, upload plans, take payments - everything!! And sure, software like Ivy claim they offer this but it is nothing like the streamlined functionality of Materio. Pros We love everything about Materio!! This is the best design-build software on the market. We have tried several software, including Ivy, Builders Trend, and Studio Designer, and even built our own on Monday. Nothing compares to the integrations with Quickbooks and Materio's customer support. The support is everything!! Clients LOVE it!! Cons There are a few hiccups in the QBO transfer of information, but it is way better than any other integration from another software. It also isn't enough of an issue to consider another software. Materio has gotten in the heads of interior designers to anticipate our needs before we do and is constantly adding new features to better support our day-to-day. We'd like to be able to manage or rather, not own, numbers alot of the time, but want to capture scope and specifications. Getting the GC to utilize the tool can be a challenge when they already likely have another estimating software that they utilize. We'd love to minimize the number of systems a client has to interact with. October 9, 2024 5.0 We started using Materio a few years ago, but really have integrated it fully about 6 months ago. Like with any new tool, you have to learn how to use it figure out the best way to apply it to your business, but overall we are super happy with how our projects are organized, how we can communicate with our clients, and also how easily we are able to put together quotes and contracts! We look forward to continue using the platform as it gets better and better! Pros We love the user interface. The scope of work makes us look like we know what we're doing. We like that all our projects are in one central location. Cons Our main pain point (which in the scheme of things is minor) has to do with the accounting/expense side of the platform. They do offer a way to sync with quickbooks, but it requires you to manually add each expense, which proves to be a very tedious process if you have 7 projects going on. We are hoping there is a way to import a batch of expenses from a qbo export to save some man hours in the future. Our solution or workflow now is at the end of each month, export an expense report from quickbooks and have someone in the office input all the expenses to match our quickbooks side of things. October 10, 2024 5.0 Pros Materio is basically a 'one-stop-shop' project management system, offering all of the features and services on ONE platform that our company was previously using THREE for!  From client interface and communication to internal tasks and communication, planning and budgeting to procurement and product tracking, time tracking,  bookkeeping/accounting, and MORE - it has truly been a game-changer for our team!  Another pro of Materio is the multiple 'help' features it offers if/when issues/questions arise, especially during the onboarding phase of new Materio users.  Between the AI Materio bot, tutorial videos, and live webinars, Materio provides all of the tools to help make the learning process easy and, if you can't find the answer(s) you're looking for in one of the above, there is always a friendly, knowledgeable (human!) Customer Success team member available via webchat to help guide and answer any questions. Additionally, we love being able to suggest/request new system features (that they actually take into consideration) as well as being able to see what features are currently in development and/or recently launched.  Materio is constantly improving their system to accommodate the business needs of their users.  Overall, Materio is an excellent program and we highly recommend it to any business in search of a new project management system.  Thanks for all you do, Materio Team! The organization within Materio has made it easier to get decisions approved and keep the project moving. Working with a residential construction team, it has been difficult to get them on board with using Materio, when they've always worked with pencil and paper. I think the features are there, and Materio is awesome at constantly improving, but the whole team needs to be on board with learning and utilizing the software for it to be optimally efficient. Pros I like the organization of the scope page and selections page. The checklist when you start a new project is great. I like being able to organize all files and details within each line item. Clients like seeing the scope page with the budget detailed out. The product clipper is great and easy to use. Clients like having a say with the suggestion feature, and being able to comment on individual selections. Cons I don't love the "open, awaiting approval, confirmed" tabs. This causes confusion for the cilent, when they are expecting to be able to see an item for approval, but I have to send the item and notify them via email each time an item is ready. I think a simpler solution would be to individually turn visibility on each selection on/off, off when you are still working on the item, and on when it's ready for the client to view.
