Whenever I take images of people I use it to remove blemishes, add color for poor lighting results and resize images. I also use it to create social media templates. Pros It's a great image editing tool that I have used for over 10 years. It's fun and easy to use and it is a great value for the money they now charge. It also has a cheerful and responsive customer service. It's a great tool for graphic designers with all that it offers. Cons About 5 years ago it changed from a free service to a monthly subscription. It has a yearly plan that saves a little money as well. It offers a few of it's tools free. February 13, 2025 4.0 Overall, it is the best software for photo manipulation and preservation that I have found thus far. I've tried a lot of different ones and I have, as of yet, been unable to find anything even remotely close to PicMonkey! Pros It is soooooooooo easy to use! I'm a photographer and not a computer tech so ease of use is a must-have. I have tried many different types of software for my photo manipulation and photo restoration business but this is the only one I've liked thus far! Cons I wish they had even more options for photo manipulation. In fact, the only thing I liked about Photoshop was the idea I could pick certain things to cut out of the picture and certain things to keep in the picture with ease. With PicMonkey it is unfortunately all or nothing. Your only option is to erase it all by hand, piece by piece for hours, or erase the entire background. There is no picking and choosing. That's why I gave PicMonkey 4 stars and not 5! It is easy to use and affordable as well. Pros It is easy to edit photos and design any ads. Its online so there is no need to download any softwares. We are also able to share anything directly to our social media pages which is a huge plus and a time saver. Cons It has some limited features and also does not work without internet. I use it for online graphics as well as designing print graphics. Pros I love that I can use the transparent background feature and make logos. I also love the fact that I can edit pictures right in the system while I'm creating, fixing blemishes, adjusting coloring and so many helpful tools are at your fingertips. Cons Picture edits are not completely customizable and you can't use presets like LightRoom to edit pictures. You can paint on/erase off an effect so it only affects a particular area of your image, you have a fade control, and quite a few of our effects have sliders to customize your look. For example, Blur has Focal Size, Edge Hardness, and Blur percentage sliders; Arcade has 6 sliders; and Posterize has 5 sliders, to name a few. Secondly, one of the biggies for people who really want to create a unique look for their images is the group within Edits called "Advanced Edits." There you'll find Color Changer, Clone, Dodge, Burn, and -- these ones are the heavy lifters -- Levels and Curves. February 21, 2021 5.0 PicMonkey has Everything for advertising, creating visual content, and creating brand new graphical posts on social media pages. Beautiful graphics have made our site content and social media pages much more impressive and have caused our site visitors to be much more and this has increased our sales and orders. Pros The ability to remove background with just one click and the use of artificial intelligence for better performance of photo editing is very lovable and practical for me. The brand Kit feature is awesome, when I have uploaded the company logo and font, PicMonkey creates a full pack company brand kit with everything we need from A to Z. PicMonkey has everything I need to edit and produce visual content, a database of thousands of ready-to-use commercial stock photos, thousands of pre-made templates and fonts, email templates, collage boxes and everything I need. Also, the ability to store files and images in the cloud is very important and useful. Cons The features that are available in the desktop version are not available in the mobile version and are better than the features of all versions, also the ability to edit very large photos with large files should be added to the software. In general, the rest of the facilities are good and acceptable. PicMonkey bought out the photo-editing genius in me that I never knew existed because I usually take video-editing seriously, photos were never really my thing but now they totally are. Pros I have been making amazing photo projects as of late with this software. I upload my image into the program, I fine-tune my exposure settings, I add an effect or two just to see how much better my image can become, then I just play around with some of their touch-up tools to make the image really stand out and Voilà, I got me a masterpiece. Cons Something bizarre keeps happening when I use PicMonkey though. It just freezes. In making sure that it wasn't anything on my end I tried it on 3 different PCs and the the same result would happen eventually. One time it happened when I was working on an image for about 3 hours, of course silly me, I hadn't saved my work yet so I had to start all over again which was a huge bummer. They might want to look into that. I needed something more playful and less difficult than that. I usually use Canva for specific tasks like creating a banner for my YouTube channel or making a quick logo, PicMonkey is so much more than that, I really enjoy using it for collages. May 24, 2025 5.0 I have used PicMonkey for many years. While they have expanded their features to include more layouts and typography -- I tend to stick with the photo editing features. I also appreciate the library of my saved images for me to come back to and re-use or edit. Pros I love the editing features. From begin able to do simple color adjustments, apply really a variety of professional and interesting filters to even applying make-up or smoothing out a few crownests between the eye-brows. (Shh...) I also appreciate their exansion into layout and design. Cons I really don't have a negative opinion about PicMonkey. Sometimes I do forget about it and use another editor. It would have taken an inordinate amount of time to do this with other tools. Pros Ease of use. Time to value. Pricing. Flexibility. My work with PicMonkey has helped me achieve outstanding click through results. Cons I use a combination of tools. Often, I want to change colors. Although PicMonkey includes a color wheel, I use other tools to source the actual hex color codes. "Pink" just doesn't cut it for me when their is such an array and in my view, you need to be specific & get it right. If you're looking for an inexpensive alternative that's easy to use and cost effective...this could be your solution! Pros My wife and I were both blogging and found ourselves regularly needed photo editing software to create eye-catching pictures for our blogs. We tried several options but none of them worked well for both of us until we found PicMonkey. The features PicMonkey offers are super robust and allow for a maximum amount of creativity. But best of all, the user interface is simple so that accessing all of its powerful features doesn't require hours of training and repeat use. After we began using it, we realized that it was a great tool for all sorts of photo editing projects, from kid/family pics to Facebook cover photo and Instagram posts. All-in-all, it's a great piece of software and the app gives mobile function that is nearly as powerful as the online browser tool. Cons The biggest (and really, only) con to this software is that it's very difficult to work with more than one picture at a time. There were times I really wanted to overlay or compare or crop two different pictures for one project and the PicMonkey interface doesn't really make that possible. For the most part, this wasn't a huge problem for us, though occasionally I had to create one image, save it, then import it as a new image in order to add another layer of creative editing. February 10, 2023 5.0 Pros The best thing that pic monkey provides is the ease of editing pictures and the fun of exploring through a wide variety of templates, we could be engaged all day and still feel the other template was better than this one. It is simple to use and really user friendly and even a 5 year old can become a pro Photo Editor and post amazing pictures online. Cons The thing that I don't like is that the site does not handle very high quality pictures as well as it does with the mid range one's, if fixed this will be the best software but does not bother me too much as the ratio of editing a very high quality picture is 5:1. April 15, 2019 4.0 Pros I'm a graphic designer that is very comfortable using more powerful design tools (Adobe suite of programs), but sometimes this is overkill. In situations where I need to put together a relatively simple graphic for social media or etc, it's nice to be able to turn to a program that's simpler, more streamline, and very easy to use. That's where PicMonkey comes it. It's a feature rich, intuitive way to quickly create images and designs. They've got a great set of templates for a variety of projects, or you can go from scratch. It's cut a lot of time out of my work day, by allowing me to whip things up that just simply would take me longer using other tools. Cons Like many of these online design tools, if you're not careful it is easy to fall into the trap of churning out stuff that feels very over done. Templates are both a blessing and a curse. Spend enough time online and you'll be able to start picking out images that were created using PicMonkey, Canva, and others. I'd recommend starting with a template, but then really putting in the effort to make it unique. It'll take a bit longer, but still less time than going from scratch in Adobe Illustrator or etc, and will be uniquely yours. On the template point, it can also feel a bit restrictive at times. There's a good selection with PicMonkey, but if you are needing to create something and there just isn't a template that is similar enough, you may have to calculate whether going from scratch is worth you're time, as editors like these are usually a bit more finicky to work with from scratch than something like the Adobe suite. Pros PicMonkey has a ton of great templates to use for different types of projects. I have found the Instagram templates & the Email Header templates to be most useful for our company, but they have plenty of others (Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Logo, etc.)! When I am hitting a design wall it's easy for me to jump in to PicMonkey for templates or even just for inspiration! They also have a great selection of fonts to choose from. Cons I would like the option to be able upload or download images in bulk. For example, if I am uploading multiple photos into a template, I have to do so one at a time. I am sure someone with actual design experience would find the software limiting but for someone like me with no design experience, this is very helpful. Pros The editing software is not complicated to use. I can click through and work on a project without getting frustrated or confused like other more complicated software. I make create Pinterest images and edit images for my blog and website. I use the software so frequently that it was a no-brainer for me to upgrade to the paid membership though I did work for years on the free version. I like the extra editing tools I can use after having upgraded my membership. I run a small business and I am not sure I will need any other photo editing software!
