Whenever I take images of people I use it to remove blemishes, add color for poor lighting results and resize images. I also use it to create social media templates. Pros It's a great image editing tool that I have used for over 10 years. It's fun and easy to use and it is a great value for the money they now charge. It also has a cheerful and responsive customer service. It's a great tool for graphic designers with all that it offers. Cons About 5 years ago it changed from a free service to a monthly subscription. It has a yearly plan that saves a little money as well. It offers a few of it's tools free. February 13, 2025 4.0 Overall, it is the best software for photo manipulation and preservation that I have found thus far. I've tried a lot of different ones and I have, as of yet, been unable to find anything even remotely close to PicMonkey! Pros It is soooooooooo easy to use! I'm a photographer and not a computer tech so ease of use is a must-have. I have tried many different types of software for my photo manipulation and photo restoration business but this is the only one I've liked thus far! Cons I wish they had even more options for photo manipulation. In fact, the only thing I liked about Photoshop was the idea I could pick certain things to cut out of the picture and certain things to keep in the picture with ease. With PicMonkey it is unfortunately all or nothing. Your only option is to erase it all by hand, piece by piece for hours, or erase the entire background. There is no picking and choosing. That's why I gave PicMonkey 4 stars and not 5! We are also able to share anything directly to our social media pages which is a huge plus and a time saver. Cons It has some limited features and also does not work without internet. I use it for online graphics as well as designing print graphics. Pros I love that I can use the transparent background feature and make logos. I also love the fact that I can edit pictures right in the system while I'm creating, fixing blemishes, adjusting coloring and so many helpful tools are at your fingertips. Cons Picture edits are not completely customizable and you can't use presets like LightRoom to edit pictures. You can paint on/erase off an effect so it only affects a particular area of your image, you have a fade control, and quite a few of our effects have sliders to customize your look. For example, Blur has Focal Size, Edge Hardness, and Blur percentage sliders; Arcade has 6 sliders; and Posterize has 5 sliders, to name a few. Secondly, one of the biggies for people who really want to create a unique look for their images is the group within Edits called "Advanced Edits." There you'll find Color Changer, Clone, Dodge, Burn, and -- these ones are the heavy lifters -- Levels and Curves. While they have expanded their features to include more layouts and typography -- I tend to stick with the photo editing features. I also appreciate the library of my saved images for me to come back to and re-use or edit. Pros I love the editing features. From begin able to do simple color adjustments, apply really a variety of professional and interesting filters to even applying make-up or smoothing out a few crownests between the eye-brows. (Shh...) I also appreciate their exansion into layout and design. Cons I really don't have a negative opinion about PicMonkey. Sometimes I do forget about it and use another editor. It would have taken an inordinate amount of time to do this with other tools. Pros Ease of use. Time to value. Pricing. Flexibility. My work with PicMonkey has helped me achieve outstanding click through results. Cons I use a combination of tools. Often, I want to change colors. Although PicMonkey includes a color wheel, I use other tools to source the actual hex color codes. "Pink" just doesn't cut it for me when their is such an array and in my view, you need to be specific & get it right. Pros As a graphic designer enthusiast who is also a beginner, what I love most about PicMonkey is its beginner-friendly interface. The ability to create something great and relatable as a total beginner is amazing and instrumental in my learning journey and career. Who needs Photosh\*\* (yeah I said that) when you've got PicMonkey? Yes, maybe if you are a professional making a living from images... but most of us aren't. Seriously... their tutorials are short and to the point, so I can do a quick search and learn whatever I need to do with an image for my small biz. They have quick images, oodles of fonts, backgrounds and more. They have lots of templates for people who need help with graphics or want a quick idea to get the project moving quicker. Some things you can do: -- You can use several images in a collage. -- You can erase the background so a person can be kinda cut out of the background and added to any image or used in many different ways. -- Cut out an image in a shape -- like a star for Valentine's Day (2 days away). -- Make Instagram stories. -- You can do weird things like swapping two peoples faces in a photo (weird but true)... never did that one but read the tut recently! -- You can edit photos -- edit blemishes out, add make up, whiten teeth, color hair. -- Change a photo into an image that looks drawn. I also might see an image (like on Ancestry) that I need... and can capture a quick screenshot with the Chrome app. Quick editing, add text, arrows, whatever. No, I'm not violating copyrights, just images of ancestors etc. My work is saved to the cloud so I can easily find and re-use in some manner (with edits). I have been using Pic Monkey over 10years and have always been satisfied with the results.It allows to import items from various platform including 'Instagram' and 'Google Photos' in addition to computer HardDisk.There are countless templates that we can choose from depending on our requirement, so in situation were we need to complete works quickly, the templates available in PicMonkey are totally reliable. Cons Most of the best templates, effects are only available for paid users, so if we are not a regular user, it could be inconvenient. Even though there are several free good templates/effects, the most desired and useful ones require payment.We need to make payment to download anything that we edit, so a first time user might finish all the works and find it all wasted if not payed.The background removal feature when used in image with complex background sometimes do not give satisfactory result. When I discovered Canva, I found PicMonkey was lacking some of the features found in Canva and I could not also pay for two subscriptions. I chose Canva instead. Pros PicMonkey is a simple to use app especially when editing images. What I like most about PicMonkey is being able to see the color hex on any element just by hovering on top of it. Its a cool feature when it comes to blending colors in elements. PicMonkey also lets you see the exact size of the element you're working on and it can resize it for you automatically. PicMonkey has more tools for touching up images such as airbrush and smoother that you don't find in other apps. Cons PicMonkey has less elements than other apps such as Canva. Their graphics are limited and at times you are forced to source them elsewhere. PicMonkey does not have a lot of customized elements although they have been adding them on but they are still lagging behind compared to other apps like Canva. There are various options The software comes with easy to use templates with you then able to edit them accordingly, and they do provide you with a good base to start from. Once again, I feel that this makes life easier for those individuals just starting out with creating graphics and learning all about how to use layers to create an end product. The software is not power-hungry, so if your computer is lacking in the processor or memory area then you will not have a problem running PicMonkey. Also, with everything done via their website, there's no software to download meaning everything is kept up to date. Cons While they can be fun, there are a number of more cartoon-like effects. In the past, if the site froze or I lost internet connection, I'd lose my work. When the hub was introduced, that problem was resolved and that made PicMonkey my go to for my designing needs. Pros I love all the fonts and templates that are readily available. I primarily use PicMonkey for designing invitations, announcements, and other printables. I have a Hub where I can save my work to come back to later which is great. There is a small amount of space which helps keep me accountable so I don't have tons of files saved that I don't need. There are themes of graphics that are available that ARE SO DANG CUTE. I can upload my own clip art or images to add to a design and it recognizes any fonts I have installed. The program is very user friendly with the newest rollout. I love that you can scroll away from the canvas and put things off to the side instead of deleting them altogether.
