Writing blog posts and articles? This is your tool! Pros Ulysses is great at staying out of your way when you just want to write, with enough features to be useful when you need them. For example, Markdown support is excellent, and the grammar checking is as good as anything short of a generative AI solution. Cons I feel that structuring long-form writing can be a challenge. Its big competitor, Scrivener, offers much more powerful outlining features which makes it superior for any writing greater than ~3000 words. Also, I think that Ulysses is missing the boat when it comes to generative AI. Pros Ulysses allows me to focus on the process of writing/editing without having to worry about a cumbersome interface/formatting inconsistencies of a typical desktop word processor; it seamlessly syncs across all my devices; searching for notes/specific text is super easy Cons The iCloud sync works great when it works – but there are situations when it doesn't – such as behind our office firewall. Syncing notes from my iPhone with my Mac becomes a bit of pain then. Also it has a stunning range of organization tools with multiple export options. Overall it is a great tool for content writing which is simple and inspires productivity. Still, once you get used to all the features by utilizing a quick tutorial, new avenues of writing and editing open up, and the experience becomes more pleasurable. The way everything is well managed saves me time and helps me focus on the writing and not the management of my work. Pros Ulysses just gets it. It has all the important features a writer would need. It supports Markdown-based formatting and a few advanced options too. Apart from that, it has many important features which any writer would love, e.g., outline, plagiarism check, progress statistics, and many others. It supports export in many formats with many in-build styles and many styles which can be downloaded. Overall it is a set of excellent features packaged into a simple-to-use interface. Cons Nothing comes to my mind for my use cases. There is always room for improvement. However, personally, I'm very satisfied with the entire experience.
