" July 12, 2017 5.0 Pros We just went live with Vista by Viewpoint and loving all the features this software has! Our users still have a learning curve, but we see endless possibilities in how the software can down on data entry time and improve efficiency. There is so much integration and reporting available that our old software did not have! Cons Since the software is so customizable there are no user manuals and guides to help in learning the new system. Cons The setup is unnecessarily poor and inefficient. The consultants lack a basic understanding of construction accounting and they will mess anything up that you ask for help with, and then require more money to fix. Everyday input is tolerable, but anything above that, such as changing a period, removing sales tax, adjusting a unit cost, correcting an invoice that has already been paid, is horrible. Cons Disappointed that there wasn't a control to prevent receipts beyond the purchase order quantity. This negates why a purchase order would be needed if the system allows for receipts exceeding the PO quantity without any errors or warnings. We did not have in-house expertise to configure the software. Training sessions with VP turned into software configuration sessions. The subcontract modules and functionalities were definitely an upgrade from what our previous system was capable of. I am looking forwarding to Viewpoint helping us further develop these subcontract functionalities, it would greatly improve our efficiency being able to export agreements from Viewpoint. Pros The user interface is practical, easy to follow and it just makes sense. Cons Currently not fully utilizing Viewpoint, but I know the capabilities are there. Review Source PA Patricia A. The SQL Server backend is the biggest advantage over our previous solution. The ability to get to our data and pull it out into Excel and other data manipulation tools is by far the biggest advantage of Vista. Pros SQL Server backend...batch processes...ability to reverse/correct transactional detail Cons Multi-step processes for data entry can be a bit clunky, the GUI is also a bit difficult to get used to since so many of the transaction entry screens look so very similar. Cons Everything. You need to use 5 different reports to get 1 complete piece of information and even then, you may not have everything. You shouldn't have to export to Excel or run a separate program in order to process the simplest task. Why can't a person write a "cash" payment or "over the counter check"? Who doesn't write a check on the fly? Do I really need to enter the Girl Scout's name who sold me cookies as a Vendor? Review Source BV Brian V. Software setup and daily use is not intuitive. Some processes are more complicated than necessary. Way too many canned reports that either don't work or are completely useless.
