Some reports are meaningless and hard to customize, but it is pretty easy to plug in information. I wish you could see what is changing when you type in information, the only way to find out is after it is interfaced in the system. If it's wrong it is quite a task to fix. Pros With a lot of system error messages and controls, it makes it hard to make a mistake by plugging in wrong info. The history reports on many items is also helpful with so many users editing information. Cons Some modules are over complex in their setup. After one month of use I am very pleased with this product. Pros I have only used Vista / Viewpoint for a little more than one month. As I run across processes that I have not used yet I try to figure them out on my own rather than go directly to the help file. In almost every case I was able to achieve the results I wanted on my own. For the times I couldn't get there on my own, I have a wonderful trainer that seems to know everything about everything. She is quick getting me the answers that I need to move forward. Many times she includes screen shots along with the answers that I need. Cons If I have not been granted access to areas out of my main focus I am completely cut-off even from the help and search functions. Review Source AM Alicia M. There reporting options are endless IF you have the IT department to develop them. Cons The customer service is less than average. They understand tracking billing and contracts. Cons Not very user friendly and the GUI is really ugly. It's really hard to connect outside my office over a VPN. It has streamlined a lot of what i do/ we do as a company. The only problem I have is the reporting. I wish there was more options to to modify the reports outside of Crystal Reports. But overall I truly enjoy the program. Pros It has really streamlined my work. I really enjoy the reports that can be pulled from the entered information. Cons One of the software's greatest attributes is its flexibility, but that creates one of its greatest negatives in that it is complex. However, I think it is a worthwhile trade-off. Massive list of reports that allow you to analyse different aspects of a Project/Contract. Cons Australia operation has been poorly managed during the last 2 years. New management seem to take care a bit more. On-site consultant very handy and approachable. Tax side of the system may be incomplete for Australian Taxation System (cash basis). I am responsible for all database and application maintenance. The Vista product is fairly straight forward when it comes to updates. Quick and easy to maintain. The support portal is a great resource along with the Vista support team. Pros Upgrade processes are simplified. Great support staff. Cons Database table descriptions can get a little our of control. Once a routine is established the data collection potential is worth the time spent getting it customized. Pros The ability to auto-calculate or force calculations for projections and percent completes. Cons The rigidity of reports. New reports have to be created to get new data displays. Its easy to get information in and out but I wish Vista would have more specific reasons for why things error out(imports,posting etc) Pros Once I got the workflow figured out I feel like its user friendly. Over the years there have been many improvements to Vista many based on customer feedback. Pros I like that Viewpoint listens to user feedback when deciding what improvements to make. This helps with budgeting and job cost tracking. Pros Job Cost tracking. Cons Connectivity. I get kicked out 1-2 times daily. I have to go through the sign in process every time this happens.
