Pros I wanted a course software that had all the essential features for video courses at a reasonable price. Uteach provided that and more, much more! It has all the essential features plus some nice extras like a mobile app option. Cons All plans have limitations on admin/authors. But it's easy and affordable to add authors, so what's not to like? August 4, 2022 5.0 In my opinion, I would say Uteach is probably the best out of the LMS lot released between 2021-2022. It has all the features I need, and they are also getting pabbly integration. Subscriptions and course bundles will be available by the end of the year. There are templates of ready-made certificates. While these features are found basic most LMS on LTDs (early-stage) lack them. For example, go4clic does not have certificate templates. They ask you to design one on canva.com and upload it on go4clic, and you can then set the name of the student and course information on it. That’s a hassle. My biggest complaint with uTeach is the aesthetic look. The website can look better. But if I compare it with the competitors, even thinkific’s looks are not that great. So, I guess I don’t have much to complain either. My second big concern is their unlimited offer; I have not heard anything concrete from them. So, sustainability concerns me. The product is rich with features and probably set a new level of expectations for future LMS products. Pros Landing pages of the school looks pretty compared to all the LMS LTDs I have tried on appsumo, including go4clic, mastera, tutorLMS (wordpress), Learnum (wordpress based), and senseily. The team seems to be making a lot of upgrades within a relatively short time, unlike other LMS LTDs I tried on appsumo. It is completely White-Labelled. I refunded Mastera because there was branding. Branding is also a problem with Heartbeat (if someone is considering that as an LMS, which it is not). It is probably the cheapest option so far on appsumo. For $99, they are offering unlimited courses and live classes (you get one school). I inquired about the un-sustainability of the product’s unlimited offer at 15:15 on 27th June 2022, and they replied to me on the same evening. Their reply is under the CONS. See below. Customer care usually gets back within 24 hours and doesn’t work on weekends. This is super-fast compared to TutorLMS (wordpress LMS plug-in) response rate standards. Plus, they are polite and nice to talk to. Pabbly Connect is already available and both Action and Trigger will be there. This was a problem with a couple of LMSes that had one but not both. Fortunately, uteach is good here. Cons In practice, landing pages does not look “as good as” the way they advertised on appsumo. The screenshots on their appsumo page look much prettier and neater than the way this product actually looks. Not sure what the technical term is. But the page looks fluffy or bloated – lots of white spaces in between, and although they say you can reduce those white spaces, it was not very friendly to me. It needs to be more drag-and-drop like Wix or Godaddy websites. Currently, it’s more like WordPress LMSes, where you fill in certain information in the background and then see them on the front page. So, you don’t have much control over text looks, fonts, or sizes. I asked them how do you plan to manage their unlimited plan? The reply was, “Only a little per cent of our users will be LTD.” I am a layperson, but it seemed not such an elaborate description to me, and I would have preferred to hear something more concrete. The most important for my use is the possibility of live lessons on the same platform. Live lessons are created very intuitively and there is an option to use your own video conferencing solution. Overall, I would recommend Uteach to my friends over any other LMS solution. Pros Professional looking website templates. Option to edit templates. Option to choose trial lessons for free so that students can then choose other paid lessons. Possibility of courses and live lessons in one place. Live lessons can include your own video conferencing solution. You are not limited via Zoom. Logging into the application is intuitive and clear. Ability to sell digital products. Responsive website. Localization into 30 languages, including Czech, which is used by our students. Cons The possibility of comments and adding tasks for students is missing. Course packs and challenges cannot be created. The mobile app is an expensive monthly and yearly fee. Quite challenging to adapt the entire application to use. Returning to courses from an open lesson is not intuitive in mobile viewing. I faced a challenge when one of my student asked me how to save the certificate. This option is missing as there is not button to click or to save the certificate in pdf or image format. I can live with a lot of the limitations on the platform, but not being able to customize checkout is the worst! I'm redirecting traffic from my landing page to a checkout page on Uteach where I expect users to pay first, then get account details after. Uteach asks them to create an account first before they pay, which is just bonkers! Can you imagine the drop-off if someone is excited to get a course, clicks on the pay now button and instead of the checkout page, get a page asking them to create an account before they pay for the course? You can't even customize the checkout page! Who does that? Pros UTeach has an easy-ish interface, decent presentation and it gets the job done. Cons The interface needs work, the landing pages CANNOT be saved, ie once you change a template, you can't go back to a previous one - that is a problem esp if you have modified and customized your template - you can;t save them... I also have issues with the templates not fitting right-left, there is margin left over so it's not sitting solid in the mobile. The Course creation part is good, but interface could be cleaner too. I don't have time for this and UTeach offers a fast and simple solution to my problem as a course creator. Pros As a complete newbie to the world of online teaching, what I REALLY liked the most about this software in the first place is how simple the instructions are on the platform so that any one with even the smallest amount of knowledge can be able to start their trail and use the system to host their courses online. I did of course have a few questions here and there that needed to be addressed and the support team was very responsible and efficient in responding back to all of my concerns and questions. My students also provided feedback by pointing out user accessibility and fast loading. The LIVE LESSONS are also automated which save my time by a ton, so that's also another feature I highly invested in having! It's pretty straight forward and so is the navigation of the course management, payment gateway, etc. They have videos for you to watch for detailed information when you get lost. I think this software makes an easy start with all the bells and whistles for someone with no-knowledge to get starting and create a course that looks professional and give you the ability to keep in touch / support with your clients. I do not like complicated things and all the other platforms and programs I would see from my research or from other recommendations were so complicated. Pros The ease of transferring all my different types of content into the course is what I like best.
