Pros It's just super simple, love how dynamic the scheduling syntax is. Love how easy it was to just set up and run with Heroku. All around superb product. Cons Hard to say, I have definitely had an issue previously where I turned a job off then forgot. Obviously that's my fault but maybe an email notification to tell a given email when there is any kind of significant update (or if the cron fails for some reason? Does it do that?) There are email notifications on failed jobs (Silver plan and above) but you won't get a notification if a job didn't run at all. You can use webhooks to notify you when jobs start and when they complete (successfully or with an error) which might help. Anyhow, you may want to manage your jobs with config as code instead of manually to minimize this kind of issues. Any failure we've had was due to our endpoint API that we're pushing data to. Pros Cron to Go is really easy to set up and use. I highly recommend it on this alone. The last thing you want to do when completing a project is hassle with setting up your automation environment. Cons Figuring out Cron time, but this really isn't a big deal. I believe it is worth the investment for this tool. Pros First the easy configuration. You don't need to be a tech savy to setup everything. And one of the best thing here is the integration with the PostgreSQL. Where we don't need to setup the CLI on the our side. So we only need to focus on the command. The scheduling is not complicated. You can choose when to run and that's it. Second the log trail. Third is the notification when the job is fail. Which can send immediately to your email with errors included. And lastly, great customer service. Cons Maybe, least about this software is the on the app. The log trail and email notification is superb. But the handy app must be developed. So can easily track and monitor the job using mobile phone. Or if we can create the command using the mobile app then it must be a total game changer versus the Microsoft. Pros We used cron to go as a scheduling tool as part of a Heroku setup, and found the setup to be pretty much as simple as possible.The dashboard is clear and concise, and it's simple to setup and edit tasks.It's integration with Heroku's logs mean tracking the history of a task is easy from inside the cron to go dashboard, and log entries from scheduled tasks are tagged so it's trivial to filter the logs from other logging tools to isolate a task. The difference is really astonishing. Scheduler has no dashboard no nothing to help you, whereas Cron to Go has an amazing dashboard that is very easy to use and understand with a suprising number of very helpful features. Its cheaper and actually has decent documentation unlike most Heroku scheduling apps. I love it! Cons I would love to see timezones as an option for lower tier plans, it's a somewhat basic thing and I implemented it myself in the script file I'm running since it wasn't offered for the basic plan, but would be cool to have it. The best part is their support is top notch. Every time I had a question, they were very prompt in answering and making sure their docs were updated.I've used other libraries like clockwork to set up our own scheduler, but crontogo replaces that with very little cost. Cons I realize that crontogo integrates with heroku, sometimes the jobs fails to start with a 143 error - which means that it received a SIGTERM from Heroku. It has been very easy to set up with CTG. Pros I've tried other cron solutions on Heroku and they were pretty clunky to set up. Cron to Go is super easy to use. Essentially no config required. Cons It created a bit of an issue with monitoring since each cron job spins up a new dyno. We are currently creating 1000 dynos per hour and HostedGraphite doesn't cope well with that. The integration with heroku is very handy. it works well, it's stable and does what you asked. Cons In the end it's managing crons and it's a bit costly for what it does. Another factor is that the solution is exclusive to heroku and since heroku's acquisition by salesforce it's not been the same.
