I’ve also been in contact with their support for various reasons, which they have always solved excellently. Pros Easy to install and overall good automatic translation. It's compatible with many mainstream visual page builders, such as Divi or Elementor. Cons WPML occasionally has compatibility issues with the very latest versions of the mainstream visual page builders. The initial set-up can be a bit tricky, with too many fine-tuning features required, such as the language switching menus. Moreover, fully understanding the flow of translations, reviews and published, accessible throughout the WordPress environment, rather than from one single submenu, makes it a bit confusing to see in which state your translated pages are. WPML-support is often misunderstanding issues in question. Pros That it helps me translate my website's content. And that I do have a good deal of control over my work. Cons It's very cumbersome: you have to install five different plugins. The user interface is very convoluted. It often leads to conflicts with other plugins or has its own deficiencies. E.g.: user roles are not working as supposed. Support with their Maiya AI Support is below par: it just does not understand and keeps repeating the same questions. There have been times when I was unable to properly grasp where certain features where or understand how to make them work efficiently. Each time I have had to use customer support, I have found them to be very responsive and helpful. It may take two or three communications but the issue is always solved. The last customer service rep, Kor, was wonderful in assisting me in understanding how to navigate an issue. He took the time to explain everything and even included screen shots. I always feel confident that tech support will help me resolve an issue within a short time frame. I had looked at other translating software and have found WPML to be the best solution for our needs. Pros Simple and easy to translate our entire website to Spanish which opened up our website to our Spanish speaking users. Cons It can be a little difficult to navigate but once you grasp where everything is, it's easy to use. This may be due to my set up but did delay some interaction. We were impressed by the way translations can be created and how flexible they are to configure, etc. Pros Flexibility and compatibility, as well as super-fast support in our language. Plus, the excellent ticket system and support staff who patiently answer all questions. Cons So far, I haven't found anything I don't like. I don't think there will be anything else to complain about either. Pros It is a solution that makes it possible that I can use fully multilingual websites. Cons It might slow down websites a bit, but I did not have any serious issues. There should be an option to have NO automatic translation at all, and an option to cast your signed-off translation in stone. Pros WPML is relatively quick to set up, and the main features are somewhat intuitive. For a small website, it might work well. Cons The automatic translation is a nightmare. Even if you choose "select what you choose" as your preferred option, the automatic translation feature still kicks in and tries to overwrite your previously edited translations (done by native speakers with expertise in the field). While it does not make any changes on the frontend (i.e. on the website itself), it provides the automatic translation in the editor - you do NOT see your own translation anymore. This makes the editor more or less useless. Also, the automatic translations are still machine-like and don't sound native at all. In some languages, there are even ungrammatical suggestions. In addition, the "supporters" are not helpful beyond very standard questions. Some of them even interrupted/stopped the connection - you then get the error message that the supporter is experiencing technical problems. When you try to open a new support ticket, the next supporter informs you to go back to the other one. This is my first experience with a translation plugin, and I don't think it could be any easier! Pros Lightning fast support for a newbie! I had a question from a client about security re: the AI portion. I got a response back from support so fast. Also I love that the translation interface is pretty intuitive. Pros I like that when we need help, even if it is specific to our case, the WPML team is ready to make sure our translations work. The ticket support team is always very clear in their responses. For example, \[sensitive content hidden\] is kind, helpful, clear and offers help adjusting our site's code (slightly of course) to make our site translatable. Cons I feel that when on chat (not with \[sensitive content hidden\], but with others), it can be harder to get a message across. It can also be more time consuming than when a ticket is created. The AI rewriter of tickets is a little frustrating because when you take the time to write your request clearly, it just removes all the work you put into writing a clear ticket. There is no way to revert its changes back to what you wrote originally. Also the WPML editor, while it is helpful, it automatically splits paragraphs into individual sentences. If someone is pasting from a language script they do not read, it makes it hard to figure out which sentence goes in which box. And then if you leave a box blank, it won't save, and won't let you complete the translation. This is a very frustrating part of the WPML editor. I wish it did not force you to enter something into a box if you didn't want to. And I wish it did not break up paragraphs into individul sentence. Review Source RG Romain G.
