## What is Exivity?

Exivity is a flexible billing tool capable of satisfying the requirements of virtually any IT service delivery model, whether deployed within on-prem, public cloud or hybrid environments. In addition to services provided by the cloud it can retrieve data from associated systems such as a CMDB and use this to create custom services such as SLA levels, worker-hours, AV and security scanning. It gives you control over your assets and financial insights to automate your IT delivery.

Whenever there is a need to elaborate on integration options, features, or functionality the Exivity Team is ready to jump in a meeting.

Pros

In the past we were manually collecting all consumption data from our customers. This involved many excel spreadsheets and the chances of human errors were great. With Exivity this complete process is now automated and we never forget to invoice services to our customers anymore.

Cons

As with any solution that needs to integrate within existing business processes you need to have a clear understanding of all the data flows and business logic requirements. Garbage in is Garbage out. Exivity will clearly make you aware if that situation.

Overall, the Exivity team has been really easy to work with and are both very professional and flexible. Setting up a meeting to go over details during the implementation, or simply asking a question regarding a feature or functionality has never been an issue. When Exivity is fully integrated in our workflow we expect to save our personnel anywhere between 4 to 8 hours per week in manual labor, and provide our customers with a much improved invoicing experience. A core design principle for us is to use off the shelf software that is as vendor agnostic as possible. Exivity fits that bill perfectly and is a cornerstone in our ambition to fully automate all our billing and provide our customers with a single invoice for all our services.

Pros

The biggest strength of Exivity is the flexibility. It's extremely easy to integrate it with almost any type of data source through API, database queries, file import, or similar. It's equally easy to export the transformed information through the same methods. By using so called extractors and transformers - tailor made scripts that run within Exivity - it's possible to grab almost any type of data (via an extractor) and then apply powerful business logic (by using a transformer). In addition to this there is also the option to use metadata and lookup tables to further enrich the imported data. We wouldn't have selected Exivity if it weren't for this flexibility as we as an MSP provide multiple services, almost all with different consumption and charging models, and produced either in our own datacenters or in a public cloud.

Cons

Our biggest hurdle was understanding the licensing model, simply because it's quite different from anything we're used to. Once we had a grasp of what it actually meant it was relatively straightforward. Besides this there's only minor stuff to mention, like the user administration being a bit clunky and the documentation for som of the more advanced integration topics being a bit lacking. Nothing that really limits our use of the product though.
