“There are a few things I'm not a fan of are the paid features. When you buy Nitro for roughly $10 a month, you get 2 server boosts for a server of your choosing, the ability to use Stickers/Emotes on any server, longer posts, and a 500mb upload limit. While these are good features, I'm not a fan of how it's locked behind a paywall when Discord is a free to use Application.“

### "Great Community Chat tool"

May 20, 2026

5.0

Pros

Free chat/video with high quality admin controls for communities large and small. It just works for keeping connected with folks across the world

Cons

It's a bit complex to get started and some of the admin tooling is tricky to get right. And then there is the spam which is annoying, but Discord tries to help

### "Discord: The Best Casual Communication App"

September 25, 2025

5.0

Discord overall is a great software that I use every single day to connect with friends and do small collaborative projects. I recommend it to anyone with more casual needs and does not require enterprise level software and security. In terms of pure communication and features available, Discord perform far better than MS Teams, Zoom, or Skype. Best of all its completely free for most uses cases, and for those looking for extra features and personalization Discord Nitro is not a bad value for the money.

Pros

Discord is very easy to navigate and has a user interface that is intuitive and well-designed. It also has a lot of personalization that makes collaboration both personalized and responsive. The audio is always loud and clear, and it is ideal for informal conversations as well as meetings with teams. I really enjoy the ability to have group servers where you can organize channels by different topics or projects. Aside from that, sharing of files, images, and other documents is a breeze directly in chat, and collaboration is a breeze. In terms of Value of money 90% of Discord is completely free. The payed version Discord Nitro is not too expensive at $10. It provides more personalization, and larger file transfer sizes, but for pure communication is not required at all.

Cons

One drawback is that it is less dependable for private conversations due to the absence of robust security features or end-to-end encryption. Additionally, Discord isn't really made for business or professional use, so it doesn't fit in well at work. Another problem is that anyone can message you and search for your username, which raises security and privacy concerns.

Easier to make spontaneous discussions and much better structure in being able to make servers with different roles and section for different type of content

### "Discord Review"

July 10, 2025

3.0

Overall it's still a program that I use every day, however that is more due to the lack of real competitors than loyalty. It used to be a program I loved, but it feels like every year it gets worse.

Pros

Discord is widely used so most clients and collaborators I need to speak with already have accounts. It has all the basic functions I need for communication - direct messaging, calls, group messaging, file sending, and a great server system.

Cons

The program has so many issues and glitches, in particular the mobile version. The devs regularly make updates to the program that don't make much sense, while neglecting real issues. The addition of an integrated AI that cannot be removed or opted out of also makes it very frustrating to use as an artist.

Skype had long since fallen out of popular use, and didn't have a lot of features that Discord did.

### "My Go‑To Platform for Course Help at Concordia"

April 24, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with Discord has been very positive. I use it at Concordia University to access my student union’s server, join the channels for each of my courses, and stay connected with other students. I really like that past students who already completed the course are active in the channels and help us with materials, explanations, and tutoring. Everything—discussions, files, group chats, and support—is organized in one place, so it makes studying and interacting with my peers much easier. Overall, Discord has been a reliable and convenient platform for communication and academic support.

Pros

What I like most about Discord is how easy it makes it for me to connect with other students at Concordia University. I can access my student union’s server, join the channels for each course, and get help from past students who already completed the class. I really like that everything—materials, discussions, tutoring, and group chats—is all in one place, so I never feel lost or disconnected. It makes studying and interacting with my peers a lot easier and more organized.

Cons

What I liked least about Discord is that sometimes the notifications can get overwhelming, especially when multiple course channels are active at the same time. If I’m not checking often, important messages can get buried under all the other conversations. Also, when a server has a lot of channels, it can feel a bit confusing to navigate at first until I get used to where everything is.

On an overall basis, Discord has been useful for me most of the times.

### "Discord is an amazing platform "

January 1, 2025

5.0

Before this, I used Slack; Discord is way better than Slack. These features include strong privacy control, screen sharing, high-quality voice, and video. All these things make Discord the best.

Pros

Discord is a perfect platform to communicate with employees. There are many things that I like the most in Discord that are: - User-Friendly Interface - High-Quality Voice & Video Chat - Organized Text Channels - Cross-Platform Support - Screen Sharing - Free Core Features - Strong Privacy Controls

Cons

Beginners can face some issues while using Discord, like a little complex Setup for Beginners. In Public Servers, privacy is a big concern. Sometimes Frequent Updates Disrupt Workflow Overall, it's a very good platform.

### "Great for team messaging, small tweaks needed."

June 6, 2026

4.0

We have used Discord which is a dependable communication system that has boosted co-ordination among our sales team. It is especially helpful in cases of on-the-spot brainstorming or problem solving. But some more features, such as integration with email and more precise notifications would definitely make it better. As an intramural communications tool it is a good choice, but not a standalone tool for client communications.

Pros

For immediate communication with my sales team, Discord has been the place to go. Campaigns or station promotions can be created as dedicated channels to keep discussions organized, and the voice feature can be used for quick check-ins without having to schedule a formal meeting. I also like the fact that it's not too much to explain for new employees. The ability to customize with roles is a bonus to manage the access levels.

Cons

For me the most negative feature is it does not integrate with email seamlessly. When I'm communicating with clients I often have to copy-paste important information or approvals from discord to e-mail. This can also be overwhelming if you're on a lot of active notifications during busy promotion seasons, unless you're on the game and regularly muting the channels, which can be a bit tedious to handle.

### "Excellent Communication Platform for Gamers and Teenagers"

July 3, 2025

5.0

It would be great if the free version allowed more than 2,000 words and supported larger video and image sharing sizes.

Pros

Discord is simple to use. It is straightforward and was the first resource teenage students turned to during the pandemic to join study groups and preferred it to Zoom. In addition to being the go to application for gamers.

Cons

The free version does not allow for more than 2000 words and the video and image size allowed to share is small.

### "Discord: A Game-Changer for Teamwork and Community Building"

My overall experience with Discord has been positive. It’s an intuitive platform that makes communication easy for casual chats or professional collaboration.

Pros

Discord's real-time collaboration and seamless communication tools make team coordination easy. The ability to create channels and integrate bots enhances workflow and productivity.

Cons

I use Discord since 8 years and I really like it

Pros

I really like discord because you can personalize emoji, create your own channel to discuss with your friends and more.

Cons

The only limitation on the use of discord is the limit of 5Mo to share files with friends. They use this limit to the use of Nitro, a paid option.

### "Discord is great for community building"

June 11, 2025

3.0

Overall I like discord for personal use. I think it is a great software for building community, but I would not use it for work.

Pros

We like how community-oriented Discord is. Discord channels were a good way to keep organized, and supported multi-media uploads.

Cons

We were concerned about the security of messages and files shared on Discord. Discord was also not too commonly used by others in our network, so there was a learning curve whenever we onboarded new members.

November 6, 2024

5.0

Discord has been extremely helpful in remote work within my company, which came as a big surprise to me originally. We use it daily for everything from quick conversation to more in-depth team meetings.

Pros

Discord has everything I can think of when it comes to team collaboration. I love the ability to have unlimited group chats, unlimited servers for the purpose of holding meetings, pinning messages, and tagging members.

Cons

There have been issues in the past trying to make the notifications work for the mobile phone. It has worked best on a desktop/laptop.

I am not very tech savvy and often have trouble using different software programs. I did not have any problems using Discord and found it to be very straightforward and user friendly which I appreciated. I like connecting and mutually learning with like-minded people on the server

Pros

Cons

### "Finding community and connection"

November 1, 2024

5.0

Discord is different from other social media platforms; it feels like home to me. You meet people in servers, almost as if each server is a social event, and you can only message someone once you have their username. Of course, you can also find someone's username externally, but the way it’s set up feels natural and provides a level of protection. Discord isn't focused on posting photos or personal updates; it’s all about community. This aspect really resonates with me as an introvert.

Pros

I appreciate the unique concept behind Discord as a social media platform. I'm not referring to the user interface, but rather the overall vision of the platform.

Cons

Recently, I've been disappointed with the emphasis on paid plans, as Discord seems to promote them a bit too aggressively. The regular Nitro subscription feels too expensive for what it offers, and Nitro Basic, which I would consider paying for, lacks essential features like access to up to 200 servers.
