Since it was designed with streaming in mind it has a lot of features that make it superior to zoom in terms of quality of image and sound. Pros Discord is mostly viewed as an online chat system that can be used with video game platforms so it mostly markets to gamers who already use it. However, it is also a great tool for video chats because the accounts are free and it is easier to use and set up than zoom. Cons They are unable to get you back into an account if the two factor authentication fails so make sure to keep the back up codes where you can find them but other than that I've never had an issue with discord. Pros The speed for everything, it is an easy program to use, voice calls do not have lag or errors, the number of options you have to customize the channels, the addition of roles to keep order. Cons There really is nothing that I dislike, just one complaint, because the prices for the membership are a little expensive, but you do not depend on having said membership for the application work. It offers you the opportunity to watch movies, listen to songs, play games together, what more could you ask for. Pros I like the distribution of the product according to the rooms and topics. As the product itself sets up a room within certain limits and is opened for people's communication, it fulfills its function sufficiently. For groups with many people, it is very nice to have the opportunity to silence people or turn down their voice, depending on their wishes. But my favorite feature is the ability to open songs by assigning a bot to the group, it is very nice when playing games :) Cons It may sound nice that there is no restriction in terms of freedom of communication, but I would like some platforms such as swearing, insults and provocation to be a reason for ban. It makes itself useful in many, many different ways. For smaller organizations and groups I much prefer it to slack. It offers huge utility for almost no effort at all. Pros Super quick and easy to setup. UI is intuitive and quick to navigate. Great for bundling customer service, direct announcements and community organizing in one place. Built in screen sharing and livestreaming work extremely well compared to other teleconference applications. Voice quality is excellent. Cons You can't export chat history into logs, occasionally hard to keep track of threads if several conversations are happening in one text channel. It's a very interactive way to engage with audiences. There is even a way to use Discord to do Q&As, opening voice conversations to participants in an audience. That's something we are exploring. The voice comm is something we're also trying but this isn't really meant for team meetings, more for engaging with your audience. It works fine for chats. Pros One factor that works in favor of Discord is its popularity. It gets points from me for the flexibility of managing audiences. You can open it up for anyone or limit it to specific users that fulfill certain requirements. Creators are using this as a value-add for paying subscribers or supporters. The flexibility to control user roles and permissions is also useful. Cons It's a bear to learn all the knobs and dials. There are so many options you can configure. While this is an advantage for people wanting granular controls, it's a burden for people who just want to stand something up quickly and get running. If you wish to implement it in your organization, please take time to learn it first, test it and do some dry runs to test scenarios with finding the controls for critical features.
