Pros

This is a very good tool for analytics and for reporting. The tool has plenty of features. The drag and drop feature is very useful.

Cons

Though this tool has many features, this is not exactly easy to learn tool. Report generation could have been faster.

Its similarities with Excel, and the possibility to export data with ease. It has been extremely useful for the day to day analysis.

Cons

It feels lacking, and the analysis that can be performed are limited; it is not a stand-alone tool, it requires Excel for the most complex tasks. Also to learn how to use it is an adventure by itself

Cognos is a very powerful tool but can be difficult depending on the structure of your data and how you set it up to run. If you're looking for a data visualization tool there may be better options out there depending on how your much data you have and how it's structured. The inflexibility of the tool is one of the hardest things to deal with and requires experts to be present in order to modify simple queries or analysis.

In overall, it is one of the best reporting tools.Definitely in the top 3.

Pros

What I like about IBM Cognos is that it has so many features implemented in both reporting and analysis topics. You can pretty much do anything thanks to its strong flexibility.

Cons

Complicated and its ability to build reports from its smallest details will land some heavy consequences: Creating a report will take longer than expected and also some features such as linking 2 reports are really hard to implement.

I did not like the experience with this tool, I needed to develop a dashboard and it was really complex for me, it was not intuitive like other BI's that I've used, the interface looks old, probably it's because I'm used to work with newer technologies and Cognos seems to be in the past and it require more time in learning curve

Pros

Even when I did not use the OLAP connection I know is posible to do it and its a good advantage against other BI's, it has a great caipability to support big data models and for reporting purposes is a fine alternative. As an enterprise solution it will provide all the scalability and secutity that you'll need.

Cons

The process to develop a dashboard was not as quickly as I can do it with other tools, personaly it was not a pleasent experience, I'll have to spend more time and continue using it to see if eventually I find it better.

What I like best about Cognos BI is the ability to use the Analytics reports to easily create whatever kind of analytical view I want and to change it on the fly. It is so easy to use. The Cube dimensions, levels, categories, and measures give me the power that I need to run any report I want and to create new ones as the business changes.

Cons

There is a lot to the installation of this product, but it's worth it.

Great reporting toll that gives you what you need without any bells and whistles to go though. Bland interface which is fine. This is a top 3 reporting toll available.

Cons

There is a learning curve to understand each screen and what it dos. Some of the labels from drop downs could be a bit better named. Larger reports can take longer than expected time to run.

Mobile app is great, can create customized reports, easy to use. Users are able to analyze, share and collaborate on content in one dashboard which is a plus.

Cons

Not able to work offline since this is a completely web based system.

Active Reports, Dynamic Cubes and Prompt APIs are some of the features that are helping a lot for meeting visualization. Latest introduction of RAVE added a lot of visualization that helped streaming and better visualization.

Cons

Workspace needs to be more integrated and advanced as of today. Flashy UI and customization needs to be provided within the tool itself.
