Even those are aren't tech-savvy can easily figure out this virtual card. Pros I love benepass because it is EASY to use. I downloaded the app and my virtual card for my HSA and company stipend were set-up. I can easily track my expenses and upload receipts. Cons The app can sometimes be glitchy, and any sort of changes (aka increasing money into your HSA) has to be done through email to reach customer support. I wish there was a built in chat or ability to manage some features myself. Review Source ED Ethan D. Pros I don't usually expense things to Benepass, I mainly just use it as a debit card for those areas that it automatically expenses for me. I like that it integrates so easily with my other cards and routines. The customer service has been very responsive when I've had any questions or concerns with how money has been expensed. Cons It's very easy to use — most day-to-day functions are really easy to use and intuitive. I think improving analytics and spending habits could be a great feature moving forward. Project Manager Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Roll Over Issue" April 13, 2026 1.0 Overall, I'm usually unaware of my status with Benepass as I only use it once a year for a big purchase. However, this year I went to use points before they expired and ended up being negative because the transaction processing rules were not transparent. The fact that I'm pressured to use the money every year or lose it defeats the purpose for me. I made purchases on New Year's Eve to ensure I wouldn't needlessly lose points, only to find out later that the points had already been deducted from my account, despite my account balance not reflecting the deduction. This caused my account to go negative. So instead of rolling over the maximum funds I could, I ended up negative. The team I spoke to was not helpful as they simply reiterated the policy to me, which is never made clear. I done the same thing the year prior and not had this issue occure. Instead of trying to resolve the issue and return the funds that I had earned as the customer, I was told to talk to my HR. Transferring the responsibility back to me in this situation is not customer service; it feels like being taken advantage of. This was a clear double dip because I had the funds to cover my purchases, but since my funds were prematurely scheduled to expire, I lost the points I was going to save. If I had known they were expired, I obviously wouldn't have made the purchase and just rolled over the max amount. The fact that I was allowed to go negative in the first place shows the fault in the system. Pros I like that Benepass is flexible and allows for a wide variety of products to be purchased. It is great that they don't limit the pool. Cons The two biggest issues are that you can't use it for partial payments and that you can only roll over a set amount each year. March 31, 2022 4.0 Pros My employer provides commuter, lunch, and fitness/wellness benefits through Benepass and I love using it! It’s great that I can add my Benepass card to my Apple Wallet for tap-to-pay. Benepass customer support is great. If a merchant ever declines my Benepass card, the reimbursement process is simple and convenient. I have used other commuter benefit distributors in the past that were clunky with outdated software and only offered physical cards. The don’t even hold a candle to Benepass! I’m a very satisfied user. Cons Occasionally a vendor or merchant won’t accept the card and that can be annoying, but thankfully the reimbursement process is easy and can be done right from the app. Review Source VR Verified Reviewer Professional services principal Information Technology and Services Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Easy to use overall" March 31, 2022 4.0 Overall an easy to use app. Pros It is great to see my benefits in an easy to use app. Cons I had some difficulty completing a couple of steps such as setting up a linked account. It all worked out but I did have to submit a support ticket to actually get through the setup then a ran into an error. The support team did respond promptly and all was resolved. March 31, 2022 5.0 Love it. I use it almost everyday. Pros Benepass has been great. Not only I can use it almost everywhere for food and groceries, but also they have an amazing customer care team. Cons I do not really have any dislikes, I think an ETA of potential payment delivery would be great! Cons Buggy, I've had to contact support for a number of issues related to basic functionality. However support was pretty responsive and I've always had my issue resolved in a fairly timely manner. It has been very pleasant to all questions about our benefits and also other random questions about the app or the benefits. Pros Submitting receipts for reimbursements are really easy to use and has a user friendly environment. Having a physical card and card info to use online also is helpful. I've had a couple of issues with reimbursement, but customer service was on top of it and handled it quickly and professionally. Pros I like all of the various options available to me. I appreciate the quick response from customer support. I love being able to see all of my transactions in one place. Cons I think finding vendors who accept Benepass could be made a bit easier. In addition, having examples of benefits that qualify for submission visible in the app increases likelihood of use.
