"Great software for automating your virtualization environment"
Overall: I keep finding new things that I can gather information for. From finding out when I'm going to need to add resources to an environment, to planning a workload migration from one datacenter to another, or even automating the vMotion of VMs to better balance a cluster. Great tool!
Pros: The wide range of things this product can do. From reporting on the performance of an environment, to automating the migration of VMs, to planning workload migrations, to planning deployments, the list goes on and on!
Cons: When they upgraded to a new version, they dropped several built-in dashboards. Although you can still login to the old interface and access them, I'd like the dashboards to be available in the new version as well.
"Steep learning curve but beneficial in the long run"
Overall: It was a little costly but overall we did bring client issues down by identifying where we were over utilizing resources and where we needed to add more.
Pros: We would constantly run out of resources on our VMware 5.5 environment. Turbonomic ran for about a week and was able to extrapolate where we could shrink resources and where we needed to add more resources so we don't have slowness.
Cons: The VM appliance is linux based and a bit hard to manage but the web client interface is easier to manage.
"It does resource management well; but that's about it"
Overall: It is a nice product. I used there new HTML5 interface and it presented data very nicely. The ability to enforce policies without managing individual VMs is nice, but could not justify its cost. Our system administrators will simply need to manage resources manually.
Pros: It does resource managment, allocation, forecasting, and policies better than something like DRS and sDRS native to vCenter, but that is about it. It's nice that it also does it for resources in the cloud.
Cons: The cost is pretty hard to justify for any organization on a budget. You could get close to the same results by simply buying more hardware resources or administrative personnel to manage resources more closely.
"The Operations Manager Killer!"
Overall: Easy installation and use, multi cloud integration, and automatized solution, the best monitoring software that i worked
Pros: It is the bestMonitoring and Planing virtualization infraestructure, have a fresh and easy dashboard view, and automaticed improviments to the infraestucture, connection with cloud enviroments
Cons: I don't have anything to say in cons, may be the support because i don't use yet, it is a simple product and works fine.
"Turbonomic automates right sizing my VM workloads"
Overall: The software assisted us in getting the most life our of our aging equipment as possible, giving us time to upgrade and making our upgrade process a little easier.
Pros: Helps make sure my VM's are allocated the correct amount of resources at any given time. It also assists in regular maintenance components such as regular scheduled reboots to apply updates after hours without having to be present to do them myself for our non critical systems.
Cons: The interface can be fairly complicated, especially writing queries and getting scheduling correct. The interface feels rudimentary and there is no automatic updates. the name change from VMTurbo to Turbonomic was an awful decision. I can't say it outloud and expect people to take me seriously.
"VMware Automation and Monitoring Made Easy"
Overall: Turbonomic was a product we reviewed for over a year along with some other competitors. Installation was very easy and data was collected within minutes, where other solutions took longer to populate information. Once data was collected we turned on automated vMotion to allow our clusters to further be balanced. Reporting has been great and shows us where in our Clusters we can improve and recover resources. Also planning for new projects with servers to be deployed takes 15 minutes now versus 5 business days with spreadsheets and calculations. The planning module is what help sell the product even showing us that we can turn a host off and get away with 4 instead of 5. Product Support is very proactive and the ability to have tickets auto created for issues is a plus within the appliance configuration. Also follow up from Support is top notch even if the issue has not been addressed. Would highly recommend this product.
"Workload automation for hybrid cloud!!!"
Pros: Provides analytics on the current state of the enviroment, provides recommendations about performance adjustments and optimization.
Cons: Could improve in the presentation of the reports and in its graphic interface as well as improve the way you work with hyper-v.
"Turbonomic REview"
Overall: This package has done a great job of helping to visualize resource usage in our VMWare Environment
Pros: This package has done a great job of helping to visualize resource usage in our VMWare Environment
Cons: We have not used it long enough to have a LEAST yet.
