I have never experienced any data loss, and it’s easy to restore records that clients have accidentally deleted. There are features I am only beginning to feel comfortable with, but I guess database management is a skill. Pros I use it for a variety of database management tasks, like adding/removing foreign keys, creating, retrieving, updating and deleting (CRUD) data. It has so many features that I am yet to use, but has catered to my needs so far, and my needs are demanding. Cons The user interface could be better. It's too basic. The database is slower than some of its competition, and I don't like the fact that it has to reload every time I select a table. I suppose that's the reason it's slow when retrieving data for applications especially. its not user friendly for newbies, especially specialized features like foreign key management, table editing etc. It's a powerful tool that is under-used due to not-so-easily-locatable features, especially for a novice. Pros I used phyMyAdmin for managing the MySQL database and it was the main interface for sending my DDL and DML SQL statements to MySQL. The web interface is very simple for managing the different aspects of storage components on MySQL from Tables, Views, Triggers, Procedures, etc. Accessing the database user controls and permissions is very simplistic in phpMyAdmin. The GUI streamlines the user access roles and breaks it down to the individual privilege levels on the Table, Database, and Server levels. Moreover it is very easy to manage users from addition, deletion, and modification. Data migration in phpMyAdmin is governed by a simple database export/import mechanism that stores the database schema and data into a text file for a simple data migration procedure. Again creating and updating the database schema and data dictionary objects is fully accessible from phpMyAdmin. This makes the Web interface a universal tool for managing the different aspects of MySQL database management Cons My only hardship when using phpMyAdmin is the slow performance especially when Inserting and updating records into the database. This wasn't a database issue as the insert and update statements were executing in milliseconds on the database level but the GUI is taking a lot of time to realize the updates. Pros Generally; Easy to install, use and interface. Maybe we are used to it because we have been using it for many years, but it is still easy. export and import work smoothly (except for file limits). We open Phpmyadmin every day without exception. It is always at our fingertips. We use integration with Apache or Xampp. we use xampp integration to start and stop. Cons Import data limits can sometimes disrupt our work. but we can edit it from the "ini" file. sometimes we don't have access to the "ini" file and need to use load\_data\_infile. In this case, we need ssh access. On the table creation screen via the interface, the TAB key does not work properly on the screen where the table name, type, length... is written. The tab key navigates all fields and it is necessary to press the tab key 10-15 times to go down to the bottom line. Data import and export are also very useful and reliable. I can't think of any ordinary maintenance task you can't do using phpMyAdmin. Cons If you are dealing with import and export of data using different collations you have to be careful while using the UI, it might be a bit confusing and phpMyAdmin will not auto-select the correct option for you. A better UI to visualize user permissions would also be very useful. In my working days it has been a key tool, since managing general purpose websites, blogs or ecommerce based on Prestashop, it has been the basis of the company's data.Being so widespread there is a lot of support available and when I have had a problem I have been able to solve it thanks to the community and the people who contribute to this software. Pros If we seek to manage MySQL-type databases, it is one of the most powerful options on the market, it is integrated into the most used packages in web development, so by default the learning curve goes down a lot, because when installing software like Xampp , we have a MySQL database manager without much effort. I have used it on many occasions, from simple tasks such as exporting or importing databases, to drawing diagrams of tables and their relationships. In all my websites it is managed with PhpMyAdmin and it is scalable and secure, in fact I do not know of any other similar software because I have not needed to use anything else, with PhpMyAdmin it is enough for my work. Cons I am so used to this software that, to ask, I would like it to have more support for other types of databases than MySQL, because it would be a success, at least personally, because it is very easy to use and configure. Reason for choosing phpMyAdmin I have not had to choose another because with PhpMyAdmin I have all my needs covered in terms of MySQL database management.
