### "A Strong Web Software"

May 8, 2026

4.0

Weebly excelled as a beginner‑friendly, dependable website builder. It made launching a site fast and unintimidating, especially for small organizations, classrooms, or users who needed a functional web presence without a steep learning curve. The drag‑and‑drop interface, built‑in hosting, and straightforward editing tools made day‑to‑day updates easy—even for non‑technical users.

Pros

Ease of Use: The drag‑and‑drop editor made it very approachable, even for users with little to no web design experience. You could get a site up quickly without touching code. Clean, Structured Layouts: Weebly encouraged simple, well-organized page layouts, which helped keep sites visually clean and easy to navigate. All‑in‑One Platform: Hosting, templates, basic SEO tools, and forms were built in, so you didn’t need to stitch together a lot of third‑party tools to launch a functional site. Good for Small Projects: It worked especially well for small organizations, classrooms, portfolios, or basic informational sites where speed and simplicity mattered more than deep customization. Low Learning Curve for Editors: Once a site was built, non‑technical contributors could easily update text or images without breaking the design.

Cons

Limited Design Flexibility: While easy to use, the editor felt restrictive. Fine‑tuning layouts, spacing, or responsive behavior was harder compared to more modern builders. Stagnant Feature Growth: Over time, the platform didn’t seem to evolve as quickly as competitors, especially after its acquisition—new features and updates felt slow or minimal. Basic SEO & Blogging Tools: SEO controls and blogging functionality were fairly surface‑level, which made it less ideal for content‑heavy or growth‑focused sites. Template Constraints: Once you chose a theme, switching or deeply customizing it could be cumbersome without redesigning large portions of the site. Less Control for Advanced Users: For users who wanted more backend access, custom integrations, or advanced functionality, Weebly quickly hit a ceiling.

### "Reliable, easy to use and lots of features (for free!)"

August 20, 2025

5.0

I've used weebly for over 10 years and it's my go-to every time I want to develop a new site without having to do any coding etc

Pros

It's super easy to use, and has great features, some of which I haven't seen elsewhere. The customer support is also great and they allow you to use your own .weebly.com domain for free!

Cons

No student discounts yet, but they are very generous and will help you. It would be nice to have a free trial of some sorts .

### "Loyalty accounts for NOTHING"

December 17, 2025

1.0

After over 10 yrs hosting my website I… After over 10 yrs hosting my website I get 4x the regular fee taken out of my bank. No explanation. After months of trying to get an answer I cancelled and got lame excuses why they ‘upgraded’ me and charged me 4x more. They said they’d give a refund and did not. The replies were somewhat arrogant too, AVOID

Pros

Not much. It was easy initially to setup but is very old tech now. Much better alternatives available

Cons

They have bad customer service and after over ten years they overcharged me by 4x without reason or consultation. I’ve cancelled!!

### "Weebly: An All-in-one SEO, eCommerce and Website Builder of All Times"

April 10, 2025

With Weebly, I have been able to create stunning websites without coding and hosting them at an affordable price.

Pros

Weebly allocates a wide array of website builder and eCommerce tools in one space. It only involves drag-and-drop to create and design websites without coding. Availability of built-in SEO services is another great aspect that I like most about Weebly.

Cons

Weebly rarely pose bugs on my end while creating and designing websites and landing pages.

I've been using weebly for over 6 years for 3 different websites and it's great - I can great dynamic, aesthetic, and unique sites easily with this software.

Pros

It's easy to use, even for a beginner. I can create great looking websites, format photos and text easily, embed code and widgets, and customize everything I need to.

Cons

If a photo has the same name and another photo you've used, it may display the correct photo on the builder but the wrong photo on the live web site.

### "Weebly may be the best website builder for churches and small businesses!"

May 24, 2022

5.0

We are extremely pleased with Weebly. After using Wordpress for many years previously and dealing with the broken code (quite often) it is definitely a blessing to be able to not have to worry about our site having a meltdown with a forced update.

Pros

It's a very intuitive product. But the ease of setup and the fact that you don't have to manage the site from a server standpoint is great. We love how easy it is to work with and how professional and elegant a website it has been for us. We like to keep our website up-to-date and current (sometimes by season) and Weebly allows us to do that without a huge outlay of cost.

Cons

There is really no way to recover deleted content. You can recover a page if it has been deleted but if text or images have been deleted you can not undo that. It hasn't been a huge issue for us at our church but for some other churches that we've assisted in building for them they have had issues with an editor "accidentally" deleting all of the content from a page and not being able to recover it.

Alternatives considered

[Squarespace](https://www.capterra.com/p/143461/Squarespace/)

Reason for choosing Weebly

Previous experience with Squarespace. It was not as intuitive as we would like and Weebly just worked so well.

Our Wordpress site was built by an agency and was very expensive to make even minor aesthetic improvements. Weebly gives us the ultimate flexibility to make the changes that our leadership requires and at an extremely reasonable rate.

### "Great for those who can make alot from a little "

June 16, 2023

5.0

Overall Weebly is very cost effective and easy to navigate. This is great starter website for all who need a digital footprint online. For those who are more advanced it allows you to set up a secure website as well.

Pros

One of the luxuries is this product is that it is free. This website provides different themes to start you off and then you build from there. They make it easy to embed different links like payment buttons and pictures you want displayed. You can change colors, add text, titles and themes. Overall any administrator with a creative eye should be able to navigate this site.

Cons

My main irritant about Weebly is the "powered by Weebly"water mark that remains on every page. Everyone who visits your page will know your site is through Weebly. Also there are not many themes when getting started. You have a few to get started with but it's up to you to make it original.

Alternatives considered

[Wix](https://www.capterra.com/p/169007/Wix/)

Reason for choosing Weebly

It was more cost effective. It started off as just trying it out until the website actually started looking good.

I've hosted my website with Weebly for many years now, and have been able to do almost all of the maintenance and design myself.

Pros

Cons

### "Overall good for beginners "

August 8, 2024

It is not as much good as other website builders. Other websites builders provide you full control and variety of customization options but weebly doesn’t. If you are a beginner, you can opt for weebly for learning.

Pros

it's a very good platform for users to build websites easily providing free to paid plans. Best for the beginners who don’t know coding or find coding difficult.

Cons

It has limited phone support and very few customization options for website building. Ads are another drawback that comes with free plan unless you upgrade to a paid plan.

### "Will the Real Weebly Please Stand Up"

November 4, 2021

3.0

Weebly is an easy and predicable $300m plug in for Square. Just plug and plan until you get bored or go out of business.

Pros

After the $300m purchase of Weebly by Square, I was so excited. Having been an initial beta tester of Square, I immediately saw the potential of eCommerce if a robust and flexible platform could be developed and implemented. While I am not privy to the sale negotiations of Weebly, I have often wonder why Weebly was chosen. Is it Weebly or is it Square? The lack of clarity shows in the manner in which the program has been implemented at Square. What I like about Weebly is that it is still Weebly. Square has opted not to influence the Weebly platform so it is easy to use if you are familiar with its capabilities. Weebly is a humongous plug in for Square. If you understand this Weebly is a piece of cake to use as part of Square as it is only an extension.

Cons

I am disappointed that none of the genius of Square can be found in the Weebly by Square. It is like Weebly moved into the house as a foster child and Square has no desire to adopt. That is ok for some, but Weebly could grow up to be an amazing program in the lineup of platforms. Sadly its adolescence is endless in its current custodial care.

### "Decent, but not the best."

July 14, 2022

3.0

Overall, Weebly has served us well. At the same time, we have moved our storefront off of the platform and onto the Wix platform because it's just a superior option. For a basic, small-business website platform, I think Weebly is fine, but as we have grown and our needs have become more robust, we have needed to move to the Wix platform.

Pros

Weebly is extremely easy to use for a novice designer. If you're looking to get up and running quickly, you can do so with this platform. However, if you need to expand your website offerings or need something much more robust with databases, forms, and a storefront, you might consider other options.

Cons

Weebly is a relatively easy-to-use CMS platform but its template options are significantly lacking. However, there are a lot of companies that provide templates you can install on the Weebly platform, but it will require some technical know-how. I would also say that Weebly has not kept up with website trends as quickly as other CMS providers like WP, Wix, and Squarespace.

### "Definitely for Non-Coders"

November 13, 2023

4.0

Helped a client set up a webstore by creating several pages and adding custom styling to them. Was pretty easy to learn (this was my first try at using the site editor). The preview mode is quirky (using an iframe) and the site editor's navigation is a little hard to understand at first.

Pros

Layout sections are easy to set up and adapt well with content. Seems to be very responsive out of the gate.

Cons

No place for custom CSS. No versioning of changes. One really annoying thing: if you get logged out while in the Weebly site editor (logged in as a Square user), it doesn't direct you back to Square's login. Not sure why it asks you to sign into weebly. This confused the hell out of me several times since I don't have a Weebly account and had to backtrack to find the Square login.
