The prebuilt templates and the drag-and-drop features are very helpful. This is good software for someone just starting out and needing a quick website. It's also free. Cons The inability to add a Next and Back button to webpages has been an issue Weebly users have brought to the company for years, and to my knowledge, it hasn't been resolved. Pros The best thing about Weebly is the simplicity of building a very professional looking website with little or no site-building experience. If WordPress is out of reach for you but you need a solid professiona looking site for your small business, Weebly is the way to go. I built several websites for other companies in the past using this platform with the idea that they can then manage it themselves without any technical knowledge. This was the perfect platform for this and among other similar platforms definitely seemed to be the easiest to use. Cons There definitely is a ceiling of what you can do with this platform. From there you will want to move to something more advanced like WordPress. This isn't necessarily a knock on Weebly though, they never designed it to be a WordPress rival in general. On the good side, the software was very welcoming to me as its user-friendly interface suited me perfectly on how to start my website building process. From customizing templates and text to images and other types of content, it was very efficient financially to name one. Pros I can use Weebly's drag-and-drop interface which makes it easy for me to design websites that I want to create without needing any coding knowledge. Cons While Weebly is a free and easy-to-use, their design options are limited when compared to to other website builders, like GoDaddy for example. The abilities far outweigh any negative experiences we've had with the product. Pros Weebly has made upkeep and development of our website very easy. Coming from a background that had never developed a website before, their templates and simplistic drag and drop builder made things intuitive and rather user friendly. And then, the fact that you can add apps to your site builder to improve your site beyond what Weebly offers, that allows your site to stand alone and not be another replica of what you already see. Lastly, Weebly does a good job of continuing to offer new and improved capabilities to keep your site up-to-date with technology. It has many different features and they are easy to use. For my purposes, as a distribution of information, Weebly was a great fit. For others, it might depend on what they want to accomplish with their website. Pros Weebly is a great tool for basic website design. Weebly comes with templates that you can plug right in and you can also create from scratch. There are many different options for inserting various items such as images, galleries, text, maps, etc. The layout is easy to navigate. It also has more advanced options like Google AdSense, embed code, etc. What I like most about Weebly is that you can get going right away with the basic features and then build from there. I had little trouble getting my website going in just a few hours. Cons There have been a few things I needed to do that required some troubleshooting. These were minor things like inserting an embedded Google Doc- things that not every user would need to do. I was able to find this information easily enough on third party help sites. Trying to snail mail and go door to door is simply not practical in this modern age. Professional web development services were too costly. In looking at the numerous website builders, I decided to try Weebly since it offers a completely free option. All of our community documents, meeting information, etc. are now online. We've also been able to integrate an online process for residents to pay assessments online as well as direct realtors and title companies to an estoppel form. Our neighborhood website has now become the gold standard that other neighborhoods within my community are trying to duplicate. Overall Weebly has been a godsend! Pros Weebly is a very compelling service to publish professional looking content in an easy to use interface. I have found that the free option provides more than enough flexibility to meet my needs. Cons I would like to see some of the additional features be available as an a la carte offering rather than flat subscription fees. Not with Weebly! You can't do that. We want them to schedule their order for a specific day and time. That doesn't work like you'd expect at all. Weebly is a simple site for e-commerce but once you want even limited options for pickup or delivery the way you run your business it just doesn't work. It is not fully integrated into Square so sometimes you have to do one thing in one app and another in the other app. Overall it's free but clunky. Pros Weebly is pretty easy to set up if you have limited items to sell. It integrates with Square, so if you have a physical business and take credit cards, it's easy and free. It has Apple and Google Pay, which is nice. Cons First, it's so slow to use. Every click is forever of waiting while it loads. Second, it just doesn't have enough features for different kinds of businesses. Reason for choosing Weebly It was free and came with Square. I'm going to find something better eventually. I have had to use Google for everything for my own education, but I teach in a Microsoft district, so Weebly is a good option for my students. Pros A person doesn’t need much experience with technology to make a website on Weebly. If a person can drop & drag, they can make a Weebly page. I have been using it to host my website for quite a few years now and it is so easy. I tweak it all the time and I've very rarely had any issues. And their customer service has always been very helpful. I highly recommend this program. Pros Weebly has been one of the easiest programs to use for creating and maintaining my personal actor website. I have multiple pages, photos, people can contact me directly through my site. It is all very clean and organized and there are so many options to choose from for presentation of your site. It is easy to log on and do as small or large of an update as needed, and your new edits are published in minutes. There's no middle man to have to get anything approved, you can just come and go as you please. I only use the basic free version of Weebly and it has almost all the features I need. Cons I feel like sometimes the program is a bit limiting when you choose a certain type of formatting. For example, on my cover page, I have the title, then a photo on the left and a box for my "welcome" on the right. I never seem to get the exact formatting or change the font/size to what I need in that box. But honestly, if this is my biggest complaint, that is fine by me. There really isn't much else to complain about. Maybe if I upgraded to the paid version, that is more of an option/there's more flexibility. I don't know for sure though. They have come a long way and is extremely easy to use compared to other options when building websites. Weebly sites can indeed rank in Google and I have seen this first hand with ease. The drag and drop building is such a breeze you can have your children make your websites. Cons Weebly does lack in the feature area and third party plugins etc. There are still bugs and there are still other things that you will come across that you will find you are unable to do that you could do if you were using a different platform. There are a really impressive amount of premade templates for your website. Customer service is pretty quick to get back with you and help you out. Pros I love the fact that overall it is very easy to use and there is a wide variety of pre made templates that you can use to set up your website or blog. The text feature can be tricky but overall it is easy to use but you definitely need to pay attention to the tutorial. Cons Editing can be confusing to do and the drag and drop feature is pretty simple overall but you must pay attention to the tutorial or you will be lost. Review Source Amber C. However, I believe using Squarespace, Wordpress and other website builders is better. They have more tools, you have more flexibility and I've experienced fewer problems with other softwares. Pros Weebly is a basic website builder without too many extra features and for some of my clients, that's all they need. If you have very little web development experience, Weebly could be a good option for you. They have themes and pre-built templates to utilize so it does make creating a new website pretty easy. Plus, it integrates with Square now which is a plus to many of my clients who are just starting up their business and need a payment processor. Cons The photo storage! My goodness, you upload a photo and you have to upload it again from your desktop instead of having it stored in a folder on your site. It's extremely annoying. Then of course, you can't customize your site as much as you can with other builders and you can't dig into many of the tools because Weebly is meant for novices (or so it seems). Cheaper, more responsive, better. Pros You can see exactly how webpages look - and quickly build websites by dragging and dropping features. We've used it for years. For the most part it quietly gets on with doing what it does best. Cons Doesn't connect with other apps well (some do), but it doesn't connect with Zapier. You can't copy pages across separate websites, so if wanted to create a similar one, you'd need to do that from scratch. Contact form data doesn't go anywhere. You'd have to manually update your CRM. As long as you like what it offers, you're OK, but it's not super flexible. Really annoying feature if your run your online store through it - when customers pay via paypal, they think they've completed the transaction, but then get redirected back to the page they saw before and have to click 'commit to buy' which many don't. They might ring you, confused about where their stuff is, or they might just give up and buy from somewhere else... Weebly offers all basic tools that you can use for building a website or store from scratch. Weebly’s collection of templates now includes a great choice of on-trend mobile-responsive designs. Unlike Wix and Shopify Plus it lets you download the full code to your website, so you can customize it or even download it. Weebly also offers over 40 pre-designed templates to help you get started. The layouts to every type of page can be found. Weebly also enables the user to add and install more apps for your use. Weebly also lets you create a fully customizable club to which you have full control. Cons When using weebly’s drag and drop customization we found it to be very limited. If you use weebly after using Wix or SquareSpace you will find it’s drag and drop customization very limited. On the case releasing new features weebly has been very slow . They just upgrade two or so features in a year but now they have picked up the pace. But they are still focusing on the cutting edge technologies, rather than that they should focus on improving the friendly user. Another tiny feature that my colleague pointed out was that the blogging tools need to be improved in a very little sense but it causes a lot. The feature is that you cannot highlight or show you most recent or most popular posts first. We have sent them a message and their response time was very fast. You simply just drag and drop and edit the titles to your liking and in less than 10 minutes you have a fully setup website to your liking. Weebly is also free and allows everyone to access it whenever and wherever they would like. Cons Weebly, however, isn't the only free website customization software that allows a user to make their own website. There are sites such as wix.com that also allows user to make their own websites in a snap of a finger.
