It has brought transparency, organization and easier collaboration. Pros I have been very pleased with our integration of MEEZ into our workflow. Our class is built entirely around a model of entreprenuership and having software like MEEZ has facilitated collaboration and dish development. Also having nutrition built in made our NASA HUNCH menu development much easier. I hope to fully build out our food costing database to make that as easy as it should have been all along. Cons I am hoping that the invoice scanning tool can be further enhanced, allowing me to drop XtraChef and use Meez exclusively. A few tweaks and this software could be quite useful. Pros The ability to send a link with the finished recipe was the key feature we wanted to make it easy for cooks & chefs to access these without having to see the entire backend of the system. Cons Regrettably you can't test a lot of the features in the free trial and within 20 minutes of signing up i found that it was buggy when deleting ingredients, when building a recipe, it includes a huge database in ingredients that haven't been imported, making recipe creation tedious and confusing as you now have to visually match the ingredients you want to use compared with their own database on unwanted ingredients. Likewise, the way this app manages weights & quantities of ingredients completely non-sensical and making it completely useless for costing your own items from your own suppliers. After the 20 minutes of realising all this, I asked for a refund only to be told "nope, you signed up, and that's the terms". overall a very under-developed product that really wasn't worth the money to sign up for the 20 minutes it took to realise it wasn't fit for purpose. Do not waste your time with this if you actually run a business. Meez is awesome because you add the price of an ingredient and then that price is added to any recipe. If I need to make an adjustment to a recipe, it automatically adjusts the cost. I also like that I can easily toggle the price to see what the COGS would be. Lastly, we use Meez while cooking in the kitchen to easily scale recipes without any math. That’s a real lifesaver. Overall it’s made my recipe management and costing so much easier and for an affordable price. Pros It’s easy to upload recipes into the software and easy to make adjustments. Cons It’s sometimes buggy but it’s nothing major. I had taken a small hiatus while I finished my culinary program, and when I've returned a year later it feels like all the issues I had in the past have been fixed or new opportunities were put in place. I like that this is a place that I can really put all my eggs in one basket. Pros I found Meez about a year ago as I am just starting my business and just getting booked for farmers markets, I find this platform has been fantastic at helping me do quick math for costing products, which makes me feel more confident in pricing my products and explaining to customers why it's priced that way. Cons The ingredient list for Meez is fairly centered around solely culinary ingredients and I find I need to add in quite a lot of very common baking ingredients. I wish there was a better product list in which I can include my supplier info and that the product list includes all the ingredients listed in all my recipes, not just the ones I've had to add into the system. Once your recipe is built, there is a function to make the recipe bigger or smaller as needed and it does all the work for you! Allows you to add slide shows, pictures, and videos to help break down your recipes and can be used as a training tool for all of your dishes and prep items. Cons Theres 3 things that stick out to me. The biggest is that they need to develop this as an app that can be downloaded to tablets! It's a pain to have to go on a web browser every time to use the product. Next would be under the ALL section when you first log in, would be amazing to reorganize the tabs in the order that the user wanted. For example, we never use the recipes tab. It contains every recipe ever made and we have everything broken down in sections so it just makes it more confusing fo the teams in the kitchens. Lastly, when you try to use this product on a tablet through the web browser in regards to reviewing your recipe, the ingredients tab and the prep method tab are separated and would much rather everything on one page. That would make it way more user friendly for the kitchen teams. Reason for choosing meez Price was reasonable but what sold us was how much growth potential Meez has. We use it at maybe 20% of what Meez has to offer and we look forward to integrating more and more of our operations over to meez as we continue to grow. Review Source AS Al S. Pros My favorite feature is that I can scale recipes up or down, depending on how much I need that week. I also really like the costing feature- the work in conversions that Meez does for you saves me a lot of time and means I'll actually use the tool. Cons It's constantly improving. Initially uploading recipes was a pain, but now that I can "copy-paste" and Meez largely figures it out, it saves me a lot of time. I love that our staff already can't seem to live without it. I am extremely grateful for how easy it is for them to use. It will also streamline training in a big way. We will eventually add photos and videos to recipes, making it easier for new staff to execute a new recipe with less supervision. Pros The most impactful feature of meez is the ability to quickly and accurately scale our recipes to any quantity needed. We make pies, cupcakes, and lots of recipes based on the number of servings. That we can easily change the recipe amounts to accommodate this makes us more efficient and saves us the headache of doing the math ourselves. Introducing this software to our staff was so easy. We purchased a few tablets for each staff member and everyone immediately goes to meez instead of our paper recipes. Recipes are accessible from literally anywhere rather than from a physical binder kept at one location. Cons We would love to see meez get turned into a more cohesive app for our tablets. Pros Having software that can easily update our food cost is critical to running a successful kitchen. Cons We're a licensed/franchised restaurant. It's great that we can customize which recipes the licensee needs to have access to. It'd be helpful if they could also see what the food cost is and the margin. Pros It’s intuitive. Rarely have I needed to seek support and when I do it’s very quick I get a response. It used to take me at least a week to cost a new menu and have training manuals recipe books allergen guides etc. now it’s all one step and I can do it in a day. Cons In recipe ingredient list I wish you could add a percentage for a ingredient amount that is not changed when scaling a recipe. Oftentimes we will use a percentage as an amount and that should not change when scaling a recipe up or sown, a % stays the same. I would like to be able to digitally download all of my recipes. We want to have recipes for several outlets in 1 hotel/location. We also want to be able to build "menus" in the program. for example 1 outlet/restaurant in a hotel may have 4-5 different menus, ie. breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour, brunch, etc. would be nice to build these menus using the recipes you've created. I suppose the same can be done with "recipe books". Also, it would be nice to have more viewers included in membership.
