There are some signs of recovery, but we are still far from a minimum level of functionality. Pros It's easy to use, and there are a lot of SDKs for many languages.It's scalable, you don't have to worry about performance. Cons You cannot schedule an automatic backup.There are no aggregate functions (no sum, no avg..), just count now in "preview".You can't change location. Pros Firestore is extremely easy to get started with for beginners. It provides a self-explanatory user interface which shows the no-sql database clearly. One can get it up and working within a day with no issues. It has been my go-to database for mobile apps due to it's hassle-free and flexible implementation. Cons It might need more resources to guide users on more advanced features like security of the database, as new users will not be able to set up a robust database without any help. Only enterprises would have the resources to maintain something like Firestore and manage scalability. But hopefully that's changing. Pros Robust, super flexible, blazing fast, unlimited possibilities, and probably the most reliable backend and database solution ever. Cons Deployment, development and customisability are not exactly beginner-friendly. Also, no easy way to manage data and maintain integrity in the structure. Its biggest strength (flexibility) is also its biggest weakness.
