Home user Information Technology and Services Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Quick to learn and full of useful features " September 30, 2022 5.0 I used Intellij Idea and some other IDEs before moving to Android Studio and found the software to be intuitive, easy to learn and easy to customise to my individual tastes. It has all the tools I need for Android app development in a nicely packaged product. The debugging and Emulator tools are especially useful. Pros I like the user interface. It isn't that much different to Intellij idea (which is what Android Studio was adapted from), but is tailored to Kotlin/Java with some useful menus and buttons specifically for those languages. Cons I found the Version Control to be a bit buggy when switching between branches of my attached git repository. Everything was saved and uploaded so I never lost any work, it just didn't run smoothly all the time and I had to shut down and launch AS sometimes to get the connection to git working. Switched from [IntelliJ IDEA](https://www.capterra.com/p/136010/IntelliJ-IDEA/) I switched because Android Studio is free, supported by Android, and tailored specifically for Kotlin. Pros This IDE allows you to use default Android application templates that will allow you to easily develop an application in just a few programming sessions. Similarly, if your development is based on Java, you will have no problem in implementing applications. Integrates well with other software (such as GameMaker: Studio). Pros Android Studio integrates pretty easily with GameMaker - the main way I use it on a regular basis. It also allows for easy management of SDKs, versions, etc, which is essential for using with GameMaker, especially for custom exports (ie: APKs designed to work on older Android devices). Pros The most impactful were being able to ajust the layout of the screen manually and not exactly relying only on code, the mix of being able to use both and see it adjusted in real time is great, also being able to connect any android phone and being able to run the apk directly is amazing Cons The only thing is it crashes alot and get really slow, so coding can get very stressful, especially when you try to run the code on a phone or the simulation phone it can crash.
