Pros With the transition to work from home for our company, Cloudflare Access has enabled us to drop our legacy VPN product. No more desktop applications, slow connection speeds, and manual maintenance of a VPN appliance. Now we can secure our applications and make them available online without the hassle of maintaining a VPN appliance. With access we can do a lot. Pros You don't want to expose the Public IP of your servers, Cloudflare Access is the solution. You don't want to expose the Public IP of your servers, Cloudflare Access is the solution. You do not have a public IP and additionally, you are behind a CG-NAT or a NAT managed by your provider, Cloud Flare Access is the solution. You don't have a budget, and you only need to connect 3 servers to connect them to a domain and have your website or service accessible from anywhere, Cloud Flare Access is the solution. Really! It was only recently that I discovered this, now I can't stop using it. It is impressive how much it makes it easier for us to connect to the intranet of remote teams. And the speed at which it delivers the data is fascinating. But that is not all! You can also protect the domain with SSL! All this in minutes. Cons Sorry, I didn't get anything that is negative. Cons The changes made to cloudflared were breaking in one occasion (I should have RTFM, though…), so I had to revert to an older version, but other than that nothing major. It has saved our servers' running costs and improved our system security. Pros I can set up role-based access rules and access tunnels for my internal/private web applications. The problem of DDoS and bruteforce attacks towards our authentication system have been solved. Cons The access tunnel software lacks an auto-update feature. It can be improved by adding zero-downtime automatic update so that we do not have to install updates manually on all our servers.
