June 7, 2019 5.0 Pros Love the fact that anyone in Fundraising can access their data files virtually anywhere. Running reports, finding constituents, finding new prospects is easier than ever! Software updates are easy, because they happen virtually in the cloud. Communication of changes, enhancements and updates are always timely. Cons There is nothing that I don't love! Adding this functionality would make it a more complete product for our development staff to use and be able to easily view information that is tracked in each of these key areas like lists of endowments, attendees of specific events, etc. Pros The data is in an easy to use format, especially for non-technical people. In addition, the list and analyze features provide an easy way to view specific information easily. Our staff really likes the ability to move tiles around, the mapping feature, and integration with outlook. Cons The integration with Outlook doesn't allow the ability to change a completed date and add the name of a solicitor when creating an action. I am the database coordinator so a lot of the functions do not really pertain to me. I love the dashboard and I love the info you can pull up on a constituent. Very impressive. I would love a better tutorial or a class on everything it can offer. I do hope once we get a designated fundraiser that they will utilize NXT. It is a great tool for when you are out fundraising. Pros Ease of use - Once you start looking around there is a lot you can do and it is fairly easy to find the info you need. Pros The ease of use for users is huge! Our frontline Gift Officers love the functionality of NXT! Our team benefits from the dynamic way it presents the data which makes the data more useful and telling for decisions. April 17, 2017 5.0 Your DBA will still primarily be in the database view, but fundraisers - especially those on the road, will love the simplicity and functionality of NXT Pros The NXT interface is very user-friendly and works well on computer, tablet or phone. Of course, there are some tasks that can only be done in the database - but most of those tasks should be done by the "Super User" or DBA anyway. Think of NXT as the "lite" version of the software - functions that gift officers and casual users need but none of the "scary" bells and whistles of the database. December 5, 2016 4.0 Raiser's Edge is a very valuable tool that I've used at several different organizations on a daily basis. It is an excellent resource when used correctly and consistently. I just wish the search function was a little easier to navigate sometimes! Pros I like how easily I can find information stored by colleagues throughout my organization. It cuts down on asking people questions about constituents they have relationships with. Cons I find it hard to search for information sometimes if you do not have all the information you need. It is also a great UI and being able to drill into records is beneficial. Cons The filtering in lists is not as flexible as database view. There are queries that still need to be done in database because NXT doesn't provide enough filtering criteria. For instance, it is necessary for us to use "not one of" or "does not equal" in our filtering but NXT doesn't have that capability at this time. Also, it is concerning that when merging records in database view, data that was entered via NXT may not merge and will be lost if the record is deleted during the merge. Review Source SM Simone M. This is extremely important when you are adding 100+ donations/individuals weekly. Cons With two organizations in the same system it is hard to get the system to work perfectly for both. As our fundraising becomes more sophisticated and more staff are making contacts for fundraising, the action logs are so helpful to keep us all informed. Cons Not all the functions in the database view is available to edit or create in NXT . When that happens, training new staff will be so much easier because most data inputs and updates will be in NXT and training materials will not have to say "now open database view and find the record again, then click X tab, then do Y.. When I first started I used their chat and phone support frequently which was a huge help. Pros Can open on any mobile device through a normal web browser making it extremely easy to log in and add your actions. Great for a giving officer to be able to look up a constituents info on the go. Useful analytics on actions, fundraising reports, LYBUNT, etc. Cons You cannot add a record straight from NXT. Only can add new constituent records from the desktop version of Raiser's Edge. Their Wealth analytics are decent but I've found better resources from other groups like Wealth Engine or Donor Search. It has kept our stewardship officers in the field and not on a computer entering actions. Cons If anything, I wish it did everything RE7 does. It's on the way for sure though! Database Manager Civic & Social Organization Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Valuable and versatile database" October 16, 2018 5.0 I'm speaking to RE7, i.e. the database view specifically, which many nonprofits use exclusively but those who purchase the NXT bundle also have access to the full database view as well. I've been using RE7 for 12 years and overall I love it, especially in combination with the NXT web view. Pros There is so much you can do with Raiser's Edge, it's a robust and powerful tool. It works "out of the box" without need for programming or customization per se (other than settings and configuration etc.) so you don't need to be a coder to set up and use. I particularly love queries to pull together lists of donors who meet certain criteria, which can then be used for mailing lists, reports, exports, etc. The acknowledgement letters are incredibly valuable, allowing variable data and personalized language, e.g. when a gift is designated to a particular program we pull in a paragraph about that program without our gift entry staff having to do any manual or extra work. Cons Can be a bit clunky, and not always intuitive (NXT web view is a huge improvement in those areas). The reports aren't pretty (again NXT is astronomically better there) and sometimes there isn't a report that will work for our needs so I have to set up with queries and exports. There is almost always a way to do what I need to do, but I sometimes have to go through some complicated digital acrobatics to get there. Review Source TC Tina C. I would definitely consider moving from RE7 to NXT if you haven't done so already! Pros It is so easy to use in the web view, and it is very easy to read and understand the various charts and graphs that analyse your fundraising. Also, you have the best of both worlds - web view and database view, which is the same view as RE7. Cons My only gripe is that not every function of the database view is available in the web view yet. December 8, 2016 5.0 I've used Raisers Edge for years and it is still the industry standard for larger nonprofits that don't want to create their own software. The most important caveat is how much time a nonprofit spends on implementation. Pros It is built by fundraisers and they continue to improve it. Cons While it is excellent, if you put garbage data in or you don't take the time to implement correctly, it will not help you achieve your fundraising goals. It can be complicated and expensive. Pros The Raiser's Edge software has existed a long time. I first used it around 1990, as it gained popularity. It has excellent capabilities but is a big platform, maybe too big for smaller organizations. Cons The progenitor software, Raiser's Edge, did not have a good user interface or being just way too complicated to use. NXT is better, but it still might be a sledgehammer to kill an ant -- that is, too complicated for use by most small or moderate-sized organizations. Review Source ME Momen E. If there's an area of Raiser's Edge that you'd like to become more proficient at using, you can do so by signing up for a webinar. Once you learn the functionalities of Raiser's Edge and how to use them, any organization would benefit from using the software. Cons Although training is always available to learn more about the software, if you don;t take advantage of it, there are a lot of important and useful functions you won't know how to use. If your organization needs something by a certain deadline and you are not familiar with that aspect of Raiser's Edge, you might face the challenge of needing to know how to use something before you have time to schedule adequate training on it.
