### "VoiceTyper works like a charm, right out of the box!"

February 19, 2022

5.0

Overall, my experience with VoiceTyper has been excellent. As dictation software, it's working perfectly. I started using it effectively within two minutes of downloading it, so it works immediately. It's worth the monthly price, which is really affordable, so it's great for those on a budget. And my customer service experience with \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] was prompt and enjoyable. I highly recommend VoiceTyper to anyone who works at a computer regularly.

Pros

VoiceTyper is a fantastic software that helps speed up my workflow. As an editor for self-publishing authors and an editing coach, it is often necessary to explain style rules and reasoning, as well as query about things I find confusing or unclear. VoiceTyper helps me stay focused on the text or the concept I'm explaining by giving me the option to speak out my question or comment rather than type it. I type quickly, but each time I use VoiceTyper, I'm surprised by how much more efficiently I can get my message across. This is particularly helpful when my hands are cold or I'm experiencing less flexibility that day, for whatever reason. Another key time I use VoiceTyper to great effect is when I'm using my laptop away from my desk. I use a large, programmable keyboard when I'm at my desk; I often used programmed macros for characters and keystroke combinations that I use constantly but that aren't found on a typical laptop keyboard. VoiceTyper's Automation option helps bring some of the functionality of my full keyboard with me when I'm working in the yard or cozied up in my bed. So nice.

Cons

The main issue I've had is that, as an editor, I say a lot of punctuation words when explaining things, such as "comma" or "period." But, as is typical with dictation software, VoiceTyper outputs the punctuation rather than the word—which, for anyone BESIDES an editor or someone else who works extensively with punctuation words, is not a con in the least! And it is great when I do what it to output that symbol. So it's kind of an odd conundrum that most people wouldn't run into. I actually contacted \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] at VoiceTyper about this, suggesting that it may be nice to have some kind of toggle feature where punctuation symbol output can be turned off and words are outputted instead. He was super kind and helpful and offered a possible solution by using the Automation feature, and for the most part, it worked! I just programmed it to output the word "period" when I say "insert word period." Sometimes it still outputs "insert word." but I totally understand why, and it's not really that big of a deal. I typically end up editing what I say anyway, ha! It is amusing that my "con" is actually a product of the software working exactly as it should!

Thanks for taking the time to leave such a thorough review, Jenna! It's great to hear that you have found VoiceTyper so useful, both outside and inside the house :) We are working on your suggestion to make it even easier to type the literal interpretation of punctuation and we will have that improvement out soon.

### "VoiceTyper is an excellent program if you are disabled."

February 2, 2023

5.0

I have had an excellent experience with voice type or since I began to use it.. I was completely surprised how easy it is to use and how accurate it is able to transcribe my words. After several Strokes my speech is somewhat slurred. So I expected to have to provide heavy edits of my transcription;. However, the result is almost perfect here every time.

Pros

I am a 100% disabled American combat veteran from the Vietnam era and I suffer from parkinsonism due to exposure to agent orange for one year - 1967 to 1968. The parkinsonism has left my left side paralyzed and impossible to use for typing purposes. I tried many different programs to try to dictate my text and without any satisfaction whatsoever. Then I found your VoiceTyper Program and am Overjoyed that you provided this. It works almost flawlessly. It is a joy to use. And I am so thankful to have found it.

Cons

There is nothing that I do not like about this software.

Dragon is a morbid solution to a problem that is vital in life. Dragon is basically a useless system. The use of RAM is so outrageous. It shut my computer down numerous times. With a one terabyte hard drive (Solid State) it somehow managed to fill up the entire hard drive in a few minutes.. I was crying for help. And I found it in VoiceTyper.

### "Deceptive"

March 29, 2023

3.0

My daughter has Cerebral Palsy and relies on STT software. Dragon is too expensive for a person on social insurance (below the poverty line.)Having difficulty pronouncing words, her learning curve is steep. To be drawn into this software using a carnivalesque method is not fair for persons with a communication issue. Worse is that 1) we did not get an answer about what it would cost and secondly to assume we are gullible enough to believe that their money-back guarantee is valid, is an insult to our intelligence. Why upset, because my daughter wasted a month to trial VT.

Pros

Although voicetyper is clear about a free trial, nowhere did I find the cost associated with the software. I requested a price using the chat (bot), with the assurance (published on-site) that they respond rather quickly. I am still waiting. It works, needs some time to learn, but after that, it works pretty well.

Cons

The fact that you have to go through a learning curve not knowing the real cost.

Reason for choosing VoiceTyper

Because it worked.

### "Good, Not Great But Still Worth A Try - VoiceTyper"

June 29, 2022

4.0

It is fine as a back-up as it takes up no space, is never a problem accessing and does what it is designed to do, so I'm happy with it and use it sometimes just to give it some voice-time.

Pros

Simple download, very easy set-up. Instructions are clear and concise and there isn't anything complicated about the dictation process. It's very accurate and inserts punctuation by verbal command.

Cons

It is a copy-and-paste platform so you cannot dictate directly onto the page or into the window your text is being created for. And you need to speak very clearly for it to transcribe at full accuracy, and do not have any other sounds in the vicinity or else VoiceTyper will transcribe those along with your text.

Alternatives considered

[LilySpeech](https://www.capterra.com/p/203131/LilySpeech/)[SpeechTexter](https://www.capterra.com/p/164522/SpeechTexter/)[Otter](https://www.capterra.com/p/202799/Otter/)

Reason for choosing VoiceTyper

I did not, I chose Lily Speech for my daily dictation needs but keep VoiceTyper for those times Lily Speech is frozen or otherwise inoperable.

### "Everything you Want -- Easy, Effective & Efficient"

November 11, 2022

5.0

Overall, I am very happy with VoiceTyper. Dictating patient reports has never been a fun part of my job; but VoiceTyper has made it much easier and faster. I am able to get reports done in a fraction of the time it used to take, freeing me up to focus more time on my patients or other interests.

Pros

VoiceTyper has it all! It is very easy to install and use. VoiceTyper allows me to dictate into any program. It is very fast and accurate, even for medical terminology. The automations make dictating reports even faster and easier. The customer support team at VoiceTyper is EXCELLENT -- very easy to reach and helpful.

Cons

I do not have any criticisms of VoiceTyper. It has met all my needs and has been very easy to use.

### "VoiceTyper is Listening"

July 3, 2023

5.0

I use it to work with collecting cult movies ( I maintain daily over 6,800 movies in my collection of rare cult movies) ancestry apps not just typing data into ancestry.com fields, Microsoft Word where I convert many documents to PDF, I use it for forms and histories about the Civil War.

Pros

Very accurate voice to text conversion with little if any appreciable "lag" time. Another strong feature I enjoyed was how compatible has been with most of my applications I use daily such as ancestry.com, Facebook Messenger, Microsoft Word to PDF, online forms, general PC commands and allows me to make changes on the fly.

Cons

To be honest, there is nothing I can think of. Don't fix it if it's not broke.

### "Got a few UI warts, but overall pretty good"

February 9, 2023

4.0

overall pretty good, but a few UI issues, a concerned that when you're creating automation macros it's not clear that you're creating individual commands but it's a compound set of commands,So I thought I was making a set of automation macros and in fact I was making one big macro that executed those three commands.

Pros

Custom Macros And accuracy. I haven't got really deep into creating the custom macros yet but so far the accuracy has been pretty good. I do like though that the custom macros can actually be compound commands, but it needs to be made more clear in the UI that those are compound commands and not individual commands you're creating in a library of automation commands.

Cons

I don't know who thought some teeny lines of the very top of the screen to let you know that you are dictating was a good idea. Also not being able to minimize the dictating button to be able to actually see that you were in dictation or not was not a good idea either. At present there's only two ways to tell if you're dictating, either you have to have this topmost window that takes up space on my screen with a big annoying settings button, or those two little tiny lines at the top you can barely see depending on your color, contrast and screen brightness.
