My overall experience with Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Managementhas been positive. I've used it to support core supply chain processes such as inventory management, procurement, warehouse operations, and order fulfillment. I found the platform to be robust and well-integrated, with real-time visibility into operations and reporting that helped improve decision-making. While there was an initial learning curve due to its extensive features, becoming familiar with the system made it much easier to navigate and use effectively. Overall, I appreciate its ability to streamline supply chain operations and integrate with other Microsoft business applications.

Pros

I LOVE THE real-time inventory tracking, demand forecasting, and replenishment planning can help reduce stockouts and excess inventory.

Cons

I love it all, but it is a lot to learn! Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management is a powerful and feature-rich ERP, so it can take time to learn the navigation, workflows, and configuration options. However, with proper training and regular use, it becomes much easier to work with, and the extensive functionality ultimately outweighs the initial complexity

Pros

Key strengths include: Comprehensive manufacturing and planning features including MRP, master planning, production control, BOM/version management, and capacity planning. Strong warehouse and inventory management capabilities with advanced tracking, batch/lot handling, barcode integration, and warehouse automation support. Real-time operational visibility across procurement, production, logistics, and inventory movements. Tight integration with other Microsoft products such as Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft Teams, and the broader Dynamics ecosystem. Highly configurable workflows and business process automation. Strong support for global operations including multi-company, multi-currency, localization, and compliance requirements. Scalable architecture suitable for large enterprises with complex supply chain operations. Embedded analytics and reporting that help improve operational decision-making. Good extensibility model for implementing industry-specific customizations while maintaining upgrade compatibility. For manufacturing and distribution organizations, its planning engine and supply chain traceability capabilities are particularly valuable in managing operational efficiency and demand-driven production processes

Cons

What I liked least about Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management is that its extensive functionality also brings significant complexity in implementation, configuration, and long-term maintenance. Some common challenges include: The learning curve is quite steep for end users and even consultants due to the depth of modules and configuration options. Initial implementation can be time-consuming and expensive, especially for organizations with heavily customized business processes. Performance tuning for large-scale planning runs, warehouse operations, and integrations may require significant technical expertise. Customization and extension development often require experienced developers and strong architecture governance. UI/UX can sometimes feel less intuitive compared to newer cloud-native enterprise applications. Reporting and data extraction for highly specific operational requirements may require additional tools like Microsoft Power BI or data lake integrations. Upgrades and continuous Microsoft release updates can introduce regression risks if solutions are not properly tested. Integration with third-party systems can become complex depending on legacy environments and middleware architecture. Licensing and infrastructure costs can be high for organizations requiring advanced modules and large user volumes. Master planning and warehouse configurations are extremely powerful but also sensitive to incorrect setup, which can lead to operational issues if governance is weak. For enterprise manufacturing projects, success depends heavily on proper solution design, business process standardization, data quality, and experienced implementation teams.

I thoroughly enjoy using the product as it has most of the standard Microsoft setups and works well with Outlook.

Pros

Because it is a Microsoft product, the integration with other Microsoft product's is seamless and very helpful when multitasking.

Cons

There is not a lot of customization options that would be useful to the everyday user of the software.

It's a great and powerful ERP system. I use it daily and love it and highly recommend for large businesses with supply chain.

Pros

Quite a inclusive inventory management and order management. It's a great product and highly recommended. Very easy to use.

Cons

The cost is pretty crazy and high, so implementation costs should be considered carefully and make sure you understand all the costs.

My experience with Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management has been positive overall. It streamlined vendor management, purchase order creation, and approvals, making processes far more efficient compared to manual methods. While there were some limitations with invoicing and receipting that required extra steps, the system still proved to be a valuable tool in improving workflow and visibility across the supply chain. In addition to this, the system required initial user training while making the transition.

Pros

I was part of the implementation team, and after the project was completed, I worked with the Vendor Management feature in Dynamics. Before this, creating, approving, and receipting POs & processing payments was a very manual process. After the implementation, it became a real game changer for the vendor management team across the company.

Cons

I’m not sure if it was due to our settings or the application itself, but whenever we received five invoices from the same vendor for a list of orders, they had to be broken down by each individual order or by percentage to match the invoice amounts. We couldn’t receipt them all together as one.

I use Dynamics every day. It is a critically important management tool in my industry. The details that we can keep within this software makes our day to day move smoother. It simplifies managing projects and has easily become one of my favorite tools.

Pros

As a Project Manager, I use Dynamics 365 every day. What I appreciate most, is that you can make your management as simple or as detailed as you want. Additionally it is so customizable which such a benefit in my opinion. From inventory to invoicing, D365 is a vital tool in our company.

Cons

I wish that we could filter other management portals into D365 without having to manually do so. This is not a deal breaker for us though.
