Pros For me the ability to access a reliable indicator of project cost early in the design process without spending thousands on a QS adds a huge benefit to myself and my clients who look to architects for reassurance that their project will remain in budget. Producing designs that are too expenive waste everyone's time. If I could convince all the builders I work with to use Buildpartner as it is intended the time saved across the board would be phenomenal. Unfortunately, as it stands half of them still use pen and paper to work out their prices, which is probably just a symptom of the scale of work. Cons I would ideally like to link my NBS specification with my Build Partner schedule. To do this manually would be prohibitively time consuming. Review Source OE Oli E. It’s an excellent platform, and the \[sensitive content hidden\] & staff are constantly striving to make improvements to the functionality. Pros Very user friendly. The platform provides excellent templates for many different types of projects, a comprehensive scope of work, and accurate price estimates. Cons Currently there is nothing I don’t like; it’s an excellent platform. Alternatives considered [Tradify](https://www.capterra.com/p/152413/Tradify/) Reason for choosing Buildpartner The template scope of works’ were excellent and the platform needed very little input from my end, with automatic pricing (which is also adjustable to reflect company/supplier-specific rates if required) available for a vast array of products/materials/labour. Other platforms I looked at needed a lot more input from the user in terms of inputting rates for everything, and the templates were no where near as comprehensive as those of BuildPartner. Cons It takes a lot of time to tweak it to work in a similar way to what I require. It also doesn't allow me to show costs in the way that I would like. It takes less than an hour to measure the drawings, add quants in the software, select shells and rooms and it's done, you have a full cost plan ready for review. It is capable of doing much more but would benefit from some tutorials showing how to use it effectively, and maybe a guide on what build elements are called so they can be found easier in the database. Pros I use it for estimates because I can produce a rough estimate very quickly. The tool is capable of much more than estimating but I for me personally I find the tool difficult to use and get the most out of it. Cons For me I find it difficult to produce an accurate quote. It is very good at producing an estimate and will include what I deem to be an example of how the project can be built. However, all projects are different and when I try to alter the build elements to fit what I'm actually going to be doing I can't find suitable items in the database. Review Source OM Oluwasegun M. It is accessible, user-friendly and gives the practice confidence when providing domestic clients with indicative costings in the early design stages. Cons Buildpartner will sometimes make generic assumptions, particularly with regards to retrofit/refurbishment works, that you need to keep an eye on. In time we hope to fully integrate it in our tendering and contract management stages. Pros We use the software regularly to prepare fee proposals. It is incredibly easy to use and fast. You will have a preliminary cost estimate(stage 1) in one hour and a detailed one (stage 3) in a couple of hours. The people behind it listen to our requests: they have recently added a duplicate button so that we can prepare cost estimates for several options at once. It is quick and easy to build up the costs associated with a project and is so much better than relying on square metre rates. November 7, 2023 5.0 Pros The platform is very easy to use, and it allows me to quickly put together an outline cost plan for a property renovation or extension at a much earlier design stage than I did before. Basically from a floor plan sketch design. This means I can give my clients a realistic idea of build costs at a very early stage before we've invested lots of time and money in fully developing a design. It gives us a 'sense check' we are on the right track before developing the design further. I also like the support I get from the team.
